Gold Coast v Casey

Featured Replies

Definitely a goal to Jack Watts in the last quarter. He did it tough in the first half when he struggled and messed up a couple of kicks which should have been goals but he came back well when he showed some great composure kicking a vital goal and also having a hand in another. Late in the quarter when pressed up against the boundary line on the wing he didn't panic but took his time and gave off a nice goal.

My pick for best player was Kyle Cheney who was rock solid in defence. Brad Miller was played down back early and was moved up forward where he really worked his way into the game and was a major factor in the end. Jordan Gysberts is a classy user of the ball and PJ and T Mac were both good. Macreadie and McGough were good players for the Scorps and acting captain James Wall was steady.

Kyle Matthews is still undergoing rehab and might not get back on the field until next year.

KC's post has been amended to include official best players and the correct goalkickers.

It was hard to pick up player numbers and that was made worse by virtue of the fact that the Footy Record never made it up to the Gold Coast. Still, I worked out that Nathan Ablett is going to struggle to play AFL again and David Swallow and Brandon Matera are footballers of the future.

Finally, it was great to catch up with a few of the Queensland Demons and some Victorians up here like Redleg and KC (along with his folks Barry & Mavis who have migrated up here). I'm tempted to come up here later in the year when the Dees play Brizvegas. Now to watch the replay of the Melbourne game ...

Thanks for the updates guys.

Great to hear the boys had a win!

Good to see... did anyone catch the game? Is Wonna a chance for Casey 1's next week?

Thanks for the reports KC, WJ and Vagg.

Does anyone think if Gysberts will be close v Dogs ?

I had a chat to him on Saturday at Etihad, seems to think he will be on the G playing against the eagles, so you would hope he played Casey 1's next week

I'd very much doubt it.

I'd very much doubt it.

I'm thinking that if it wasn't for Scully, Trengove, McKenzie and Bail playing so games this year then Gysberts would be pushing hard. He's been an emergency a couple of times so the FD obviously rate him and going by reports from Casey he's been performing well.

Just a matter of time

It’s been a season of grit, growth, and glimpses of brilliance—mixed with a few tough interstate lessons. Now, with finals looming, the Dees head to Kardinia Park for one last tune-up before the real stuff begins.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
