actually i just checked my copy and Perosh wasn't on it anyway!

didn't chat to Bruce personally, but he actually went out of his way to talk to a mate of mine who was wearing a Bruce Buffer Silver Star top and said "i've gotta get a photo with anyone wearing that top"

All the fighters loved a chat and some were actually hard to shake off if you can believe that. the ufc have them extremely well educated on how to treat the general public.

That's awesome, Bruce is a legend.

I can't wait until Melbourne gets the go ahead.

Dana has a guy who scouts locations and i believe speaks to people about sanctions, and he was in melbourne during the week.

Apparently the UFC have purchased strikeforce. thats one way to get Fedor.

Looking forward to UFC 128, and i believe we are represented with Nostradeemus so i would expect a full report.

predictions later........not that mine are any good.

Posted

I think Fedor has/is/will be retired. However Overeem in the UFC would be awesome. And someone can finally knock out that Nick Diaz c$#%.

As for 128, I just hope Cro Cop and Shogun win via KO. Jon Jones should win, but geez I want Shogun to KO him badly.

I hadn't heard the big fella was in retirement mode although it's probably fair enough given a couple of losses has taken away the aura a little.

If the UFC plan to take the cream of strikeforce i wouldn't think Diaz would be part of the plan, but then again maybe they want some bad guys.

I'm gonna go for Jones in the main event, but like you, i would love it shogun k.o'd him.

I would like to hear peoples predictions for GSP Vs Shields. I think GSP will win by points with absolutely nothing happening but a couple of punches in the clinch against the cage and maybe a couple of takedowns here and there. GSP is a great defensive fighter who can take away his opponents best asset which makes him a champ but can mean some boring fights.

agree with your take on the gsp/shields fight, i've only seen Shields fight a few times and i must admit i'm a bit surprised he's got a crack at gsp so early. it must have been part of his contract to cross over from strikeforce. i think gsp will dominate but you never know in this sport.

not sure if we've all seen the Diaz vs Daley fight on Strikeforce, but if not, it's well worth a look.....cracking fight.

Posted

Shields is garbage, he's resilient and somehow pulls out wins. A smaller and far less spectacular version of Stefan Struve (who I love).

It has the ingredients of being a boring fight, but for tge first time ever I'll be hoping and cheering for GSP to KO or submit someone. Brutal g'n'p stoppage would be even better.

Strikeforce spoiler below

Watched the Diaz v Semtex fight, nearly burst a blood vessel.

I am/was a big Paul Daley fan, he's lost me. I effin hate Nick Diaz (but by christ he puts on good fights) and wanted him destroyed. Daley is an absolute moron for not taking Diaz's back and choking him to death after he knocked him down into the Islam position.

Kept striking instead, so so dumb. I'm still angry about it and I didn't even put money on it.

Diaz has the best chin in mma... or no brains, probably both.

Usually I try to avoid hanging [censored] on a fighter because they could knock me out in an instant but for daley not to go for the choke on diaz was mind blowing! Tank Abbott would have gone for the choke. I think it proves that a one trick fighter like daley can put on a entertaining fight against a non wrestler but will never make it in the world of MMA.

Posted

agree about the choke, but really if you had have told me this was going to be a stand-up fight i would have said Daley wins easily. not a big fan of either of these guys, but i gotta take my hat off to Diaz. after his time in the ufc i thought he was just an average fighter, but he's better than that. i still think he'll be back in the pack if Strikeforce and ufc merge at some stage, but he'll be part of some big fights.

129 anyone?

What a sick card, apart from GSP failing yet again to finish someone clearly not in his league. Yawn.

The Dragon Machida! Holy crane kick sensei! I mean I thought Anderson Silva's front kick was good, that Machida kick was out of a movie. Classic stuff, classy interview too, Randy is a legend and Machida was very respectful.

I was disappointed Aldo gassed, but what a fight that was, Aldo is brutal, Homminick and him will have many battles I'm guessing. I wonder if Franky Edgar would drop down to fight Aldo, I can't see anyone else giving Aldo the challenge Homminick did, yet if Aldo didn't gas, it would've been very one sided.

What about that haematoma? Massive, looked like the elephant man. Just quietly I wanted to see what would happen if it got split open.

Rory McDonald ragdolling the piece of garbage Nate Diaz was beautiful to watch. Complete domination, reckon Rory will be a champion one day. Hope Diaz falls off the face of the planet.

Scarecrow Garza's flying triangle was crazy, looked like he was leg kicked back down to earth early on, but pulled out a classic submission. Jason MacDonald's submission was equally impressive.

The Janitor's quick KO was nice, he's cool for an old fella.

The audible crack when that little bantam weight on the prelims got his nose broken made me cringe. God damn.

It was a card that had everything, lived up to the promotion, will be hard to top that one.

Loved the card except the main show. Man Jake Shields just looks like a battler. i thought he got rocked a couple of times but it was just his normal stiff stance! GSP does need to finish someone and he also needs to man up when he gets injuries, he seems to get the sulks a bit.

Aldo and Homminick was an awesome fight, Homminick a little stiff not to finish Aldo in the second after Aldo looked in deep trouble. was odd the way he gassed so early, but he came back well as champions do. loved the welt on Homminick's forehead......What Tha!!!!!

The Dragon was great and Randy wasn't. Amazing that even when Randy grabbed him in the clinch he couldn't hold him.......he had nothing. farewell to a legend.

Fantastic they sold out a 56,000 odd stadium.

next card looks the goods too.

Edgar and Maynard both injured.

Hamill v Rampage bumped up to main event.

Spewin.

yuck......makes that card look a whole lot worse.

There are still 6 fights I'm looking forward to, but it's like new years eve without the fireworks.

Yves Edwards, you poor bastard! Sam Stout finally shows that he does have hands of stone. That was one of the most brutal knock outs I've ever seen. I had Yves in a multibet, cost me.

JDS - Class bloke, class boxing skills, I'm backing him against Cain. Just think he's a good chance to tag him early and put him away. I like both Dos Santos and Velasquez though, will be a ripper fight whatever happens.

Carwin - his heart is massive, the beating he took overshadowed that fact that he held back that whole fight, what was he doing? Was like a heavywheight version of Penn v Edgar. JDS dominated, Carwin showed heart, decent main event, but was hoping for something more epic.

KenFlo, glad he won, I like Kenny but I love Aldo. Aldo will be an animal against KenFlo, as opposed to if he'd have to fight his training partner, so we all win. Well maybe not Kenny, he'll be in a world of pain.

Herman v Einimo - Comedy in a cage. Entertaining fight, but it was also hilariously bad.

Demian Maia looked real good, spewing he lost.

The judges, what a farce. Absolutely hopeless. Umigawa should sue.

Couldn't agree more. JDS is a great guy and I did really like Cain but I will be going for Junior. Carwin was really rusty and Junior was throwing some crisp punches and kept his distance really well. If Carwin could have connected a couple of times it would have been a different story.

Been a bit slack on u.f.c of late......but agree with pretty much all that about 131. i have a real soft spot for Yves Edwards, he was definately my favourite fighter in the early days of the sport and i really hope the guy gets a break cos that K.O was horrible. scary thing is, he hit Stout with a pretty good shot just as his lights went out. hats off to Stout.

i like Kenny, good to see him win, but you're right about him not being in the same class as Aldo.

Next heavyweight fight should be a beauty, and i'm looking forward to seeing Wandy fight again soon.

Haven't seen Kongo and Barry, will definately check it out.

Just watched Anderson Silva defend his title on 1HD .

Dropped him with a front kick to the chin at about 2:30 in the 1st .

They did nothing for the 1st 2mins .

He is off the hook Awesome .

Great fights, rubbish results! :(

Firstly I'll get the judges out of the way, Handsome Matt says hello and get f...

George Sotiropoulos, any title shot is now a long gone dream, slightly unluckly, glass jaw methinks.

Melvin Guillard - Boy this kid has come a long way, why was he on the prelims? Anyway, would LOVE to see Melvin vs Franky. Speed vs Speed, Melvin could take it with power, hits like a LHW. Looks like it's Siver next though, will be too fast for the German ball of muscle (who did NOT beat Wiman)

Speaking of LHW, Tito.... I bloody knew he'd fluke a win, I just knew it. Of course he's "so healthy" right now, didn't see that coming. Now he's comparing himself to Bones Jones, delusional egomaniac. Come on Dana, this is primed for the biggest MMA money maker of all time, get Chuck out of the office and into the octagon.

Wandy :( Like Chuck, can't take a punch any more. This fight killed me, but I saw it coming. Probably should retire, but it'd be a shyte way to go out... but then again it always is.

Carlos Condit, killer. Would love to see him V Nick Diaz, would be a sick fight and I reckon Carlos could KHTFO. So I guess I'll be going for Diaz against GSP then take a long shower.

Loved the title fight, was going for Faber, but he didn't do enough. Would like to see Aldo drop down and smack Cruz around a bit, although Faber may hear this and drop down to flyweight!

Njokuani looked brilliant, one to watch in the future for sure.

Best card of the year IMO.

Siver was very, very lucky, but it was a close fight.

Tito shits me, Bader should have owned him but now has a black cross beside his name after losing to that [censored].

Condit was sensational, he doesn't look much but damn he's got some skills.

Wandy is fininshed IMO, taking a look at the first shot he took it wasn't even flush, more of a glancing blow. love the guy, but his time has come.

No sure about the glass jaw call on Sots, it was a massive shot that dropped him and even though the ref correctly stopped the fight, he recovered fairly quickly i thought. he took Siver's shots pretty well in the fight before too so it might be a wait and see on Sots. He will have dropped off in the rankings though and does need to work on his stand-up.

the main fight was great, didn't really have a preference, i like both guys and they put on a very good show. correct decision.

Great card.....more of these please.

Was a big shot, and only just reached him (Sots) unfortunately. However it seems any time he gets tagged his legs turn to soup. He was KTFO on TUF, they say you're never the same after a big one.

I actually don't think his stand up is that bad, I'd take his striking over many other BJJ black belts. Obviously his boxing is a little slow and he doesn't get out the way in time though!

I think his biggest flaw is his flimsy takedowns (read attempts). When your stand up is not better than the other guys, and you've got zero wrestling, being one of the best BJJ guys in the world is rendered useless. No one is on the back foot against him worrying about being taken down, so they can stand and trade with confidence, then it becomes about luck. If he had takedowns he'd have beaten Siver (although Siver's takedown defense is excellent) no question. And had he got Dos Anjos to the mat it would have been some BJJ spectacle.

Did you see the Kongo vs Barry card?

fair points, particularly the wrestling part which is probably what Sots needs most of all oddly enough. would help his takedowns no end. i guess his striking is ok, he just doesn't look dangerous on his feet to me, maybe just a lack of power, but then again not everyone is Anderson Silva. i still have a little faith in his chin though, unlike a Wandy or Chuck.

i haven't seen the whole Kongo V Barry card but i have seen the main fight.....MAD! never seen anything like it. Barry's head will be a mess after that fight and not just from the K.O. After the Crocop fight when he backed off and should have finished him, he did the opposite in this fight (and fair enough since Kongo was in a world of hurt) and still got K.O'd!!! poor bastard.
