Not too many details as yet but looks like some of the internal structures have come down at Etihad.

Doubt tonights game will go on... crumbs what do I do now??

"Early reports were that Etihad Stadium's roof had partially collapsed.

Bill Lane, from Etihad Stadium, said management was "assessing the situation" with AFL on whether tonight's blockbuster NAB Cup game between St Kilda and Fremantle would go ahead."

If the damage limits spectator numbers , hopefully some 50000 spectator games are not transferred to the G and we dont get transferred to the docklands

Yeah, I don't want to repeat that Melbourne V Port Adelaide thing from last year again

Yeah from what I saw on the TV the storm looked massive, I hope no-one here sustained any damage?

And apropos of the stadium......

Flooded Etihad Stadium requires 'major clean-up' after Melbourne storm

Repair work at Etihad Stadium is likely to take several months after a section of roof caved in during the heavy storm that lashed Melbourne on Saturday.

The entertainment area at the southern end of the stadium was declared off limits after the roofing fell in,

which forced the start of Saturday night's NAB Cup semi-final between St Kilda and Fremantle to be delayed by 20 minutes.

However the damage is not expected to disrupt any coming events, including next weekend's pre-season final between Western Bulldogs and St Kilda.

Yes, it was massive. No damage, just a slight hang-over.

I attended the Australian Cup at Flemington. Fortunately I was lucky enough to be in the members, so I remained dry & safe. But let me tell you, whilst I and my colleagues were quite, quite safe quenching a thirst or two, there were many that weren't that were caught outside on the front lawn.

Races were abandoned and postponed to next week as hail (decent size I might add); heavy rain & wind lashed the course and most of Melbourne itself. Forcing train cancellations from Flemington; no-one was going home in a hurry. They asked patrons not to leave Flemington due to the flash floods and were organising buses for later. Which suited us to a tee, because the bar was doing a good job of holding us up. :)

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
