5 Day Break Could Cost Us Dearly

AFL Fixture with a 5 Day break coming back from Fremantle could cost us dearly.

Why do they (the AFL) keep doing it to us?

I know this next sentence may not be popular around here. However, it needs to be said.

Sadly think we only have ourselves to blame.

Tigers can draw a crowd of 6500 to Yea ... yet we can only get 3000 to Visy Park.

We need to take a good long hard look at ourselves as a supporter base.

5 day breaks have to be taken as a good learning curve for our young kids to learn how to prepare and recover

cant understand your idea that Rich v Geelong game gets 6000 or so against our 3000, firstly the reigning premiers were playing in a provincial town so i dare say alot of the crowd would be locals secondly visy park is a dump of a venue and ran out of food at half time along with crap parking and shite entrances what more can you say.

I know the membership tent ran out of scarfes so i doubt it was that bad of a turn out even the essendon fans didnt show up in numbers just aother practice match for me

Nothing wrong with a five day break in the pre-season.

Would have had 10,000 if MFC had played Essendon at Casey Fields.

Crowds for past NAB Challenge matches have been:

2007 - Essendon v Hawthorn - 10,000

2008 - MFC v North Melbourne - 6,000

2009 - MFC v Western Bulldogs - 5,000

The added interest from Casey residents in MFC, the normal MFC supporters (are there any normal ones?) and a strong Essendon following would undoubtedly have provided a strong crowd. The word is there's no MFC game at Casey Fields in the 2010 pre-season - absolutely ridiculous!!

It was raining sideways that day against the Bulldogs too.

It will be a massive shame if there isn't a game at Casey Fields this year.

The door has opened slightly it seems - common sense may yet carry the day and it may happen. Fingers crossed.

No matter who had played in Yea, the crowd would have been 10k. It's a country town, with an AFL game being played on a country ground. If it was Freo vs. Port there would have been 10k there.

I can't see why we wouldn't be playing there. I assumed the Casey game was scheduled in Week 4 to increase the likelihood that we would be in the NAB Challenge.

Any idea on what day the Casey game will be played, casey scorp?

Saturday 13th @ 2:00pm (same timeslot as previous years - 2pm on the day of the NAB GF)

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
