Trying to support our sponsor Kaspersky... BUT ....

Featured Replies

I have just attempted to purchase the antivirus package from our Sponsor - Kasperzky. I followed the banner add on the club web page which takes to a page that no longer exists. A call to the Kaspersky help-desk provides a new web address to make the discount purchase. If anyone is interested, the new page is at : https://www.kasperskyanz.com.au/demons

However, the new page is asking for a "personal voucher code" . I assumed this was the MFC membership card number but it isn't !!

It is making the whole process of supporting our sponsor quite difficult -- not to mention frustrating.

Has anyone gone through the process recently .. since they changed to the new registration page???

Buy a Mac. Problem solved with Viruses!

But then I can't run any decent games muliplayer or run any of the software I use. iPhone is great though!

I think the page has changed as that page is for the free six month trials that were handed out recently. I'm guessing you are after the 20% member discount, if so that's a different page but I'm not sure how to get to that.

I ended up calling Kaspersky again and this time I spoke to someone who knew what was happening with the MFC discount deal. The link from the MFC web page is obsolete and hadn't been updated "in a long time" - according to the friendly and knowledgeable customer support guy.

Ended up paying over the phone and getting an activation code immediately.

Every post with those words is a step closer to the funniest moment ever when somebody finds a way to wreck Macs en masse.

1) Windows still has a huge market share.

2) Security is already becoming a more pressing concern for Mac users (refer the latest Macworld mag cover story).

Windows software is almost obsolete if an article i read last week is correct. The Japanese have rolled it.

Gates is very concerned.

I will chase up that mac world issue, thanks.

I notice that Kaspersky have internet protection for Mac's now. I'm not sure if it is needed but it is something that I will look into.

Thanks CB i would appreciate that.

...what?

How can "Windows software" be obsolete? Are you talking about the Windows operating system, or the (very very large) suite of software developed on the Windows platform?

Windows and Microsoft are a long, long way from disappearing. Gates may be concerned, but his concerns won't be borne out for decades yet. Home users are presented with a much better choice than yesteryear, but many businesses that have invested heavily in custom built software are utterly (and happily) bound to Microsoft and can't, and probably don't want to change that. The organisation I work for (as a custom software developer) is one of millions of examples of this.

As part of the effort to trim the runtime of the regular podcast, we’ve been looking at which segments could be reshaped without losing what makes them valuable. One segment that naturally came into focus was Binman’s Stats Files. Not because it isn’t important; quite the opposite. It’s become such a substantial and much-loved part of the show that it deserves a little room to breathe.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
