Melbourne Football Club - Draft Event

Featured Replies

Do you really think the club would publicize its intellectual property?

To what gain?

For it's members ?

Keeping the draft night function smaller works, for both fans and the club. Those who can attend will have an intimate setting to hear about our new recruits while the club can get press exposure from the function and communicate directly to supporters in attendance. It also will be an opportunity to show sponsors and financial contributors the club and some of it's members, as it is likely the last major bit of positive press we will receive until February. Like it or not, economics matters on such occasions, especially to a club still in massive debt.

This should be a good night, with some funds flowing to the club on an occasion where MFC is front and centre in the AFL public eye, with 4 top 18 picks including picks 1 & 2. It has some similarity to the Demonland/Demonology player sponsorship events that have been held over recent years, with Craig Cameron and Barry Prendergast, and is a bit cheaper (although without a specific player contact event as well).

Get behind it.

Sure beats not having anything on the night!

For it's members ?

I don't see any reason members should be privy to these details.

I doubt it will ever happen.

  • PREVIEW: Brisbane

They really had me fooled when I picked them with great confidence to beat the Bombers at Gather Round last week. I should have recognised that nothing is more quintessentially Melbourne than defeating the undefeated early premiership favourite one week and losing to a winless cellar dweller on its way to establishing a record losing streak the next.
