What teams would be likely to pick him up, if any did?

This might be a little left-field, but I was just thinking...

would you be too surprised to see Robbo at Geelong next year?

As much as I like to malign him, I think he'd instantly be their best forward bar Steve Johnson.

Imagine the things he could do with that delivery..? I wouldn't be surprised to see him win a coleman, such is his kicking and marking ability.

Just throwing it out there - could be wayyy off the mark - it is late, I've had a few beers and I'm doing my best to procrastinate.

Not a ridiculous assessment. Geelong know all too well how he can play down at the cattery too. And I have no doubt that Robbo would love to play there, given how god they are.

I just think the age thing might cause them to question it. They have a bunch of players who kick 40 a year. What they need is a 60 a year forward, and Robbo's probably not going to be that.

It could keep them in the hunt next year, sure. I believe the question would be over price. We promised we'd get him to another club if we could, due to his excellent services, and if we did some silly deal like 6th round selection for him, I wouldn't be disappointed.

Because I question his commitment to doing the team things and the 1%ers.

He'll miss MFC most because of the spotlight it afforded him, yet even he fails to fully realise this.

But this thread was not about bashing him, it was about recognising his incredible talents and how they could really be of use to a team on the brink like Geelong.

Geelong struggles to kick goals from its many opportunities and I think If those opportunities were afforded to Robbo he'd do a sight better than Mooney or Hawkins.

Whether he can conform to their gameplan is another question.

I think age is perfect considering their window and how he is likely to perform.

Imho opinion 60 is not out of his reach, the way the cats midfield manage to get the ball in there.

I know Paul Roos has said Sydney is going youth, but with Mickey O retiring, Barry Hall gone and a developing forward line, would he suit their structure? Would Paul Roos consider bringing another 'experience head' to the harbour town?

Any club looking at Robbo would have a fair idea of what they will get. Barring injury, they're pretty much guaranteed 50+ goals from him - he's not going to have our rancid midfield haphazardly caterpaulting the ball into the forwardline to him. If its extra goals a club is after in a quest to put themselves closer to a flag, then they may have some interest. The CV of a forward has become a lot more diverse of late, and clubs will need to weigh up whether Robbo's 50-odd goals for 1-2 seasons are what they need, or a more versatile forward with a stronger defensive focus.

The Bulldogs have plenty of options Robbo's size, what they lack is a big full forward, which Robbo is not...

I think Carlton is the most likely to pick him up. Sit him next to Fev, we saw what Garlett could do yesterday, add in Betts and a fit Waite, and Robbo would compliment them perfectly in a forward pocket...

Eade would have said that to stop being asked questions about Robbo, it doesn't mean they aren't considering picking him up.

And I wouldnt rule out the Pies! Need a leading forward and a player who can jump into packs. Anthony and Robbo would be good!

Id love to see him play on & do well,except against us haha.Has been a great servant for the club & couldve walked to the Bullies a few years back but stayed loyal.Ok he has weaknesses like diving & playing for frees but thers no doubting he has skill & could kick 50+ ata club with good delivery.Has been asked to do way to much in his time with us for his size etc & played at a key post but has done it well.Pound for pound & considering the side he has played in i would have to say hes the best smallish forward i have seen in my time watching the game.Good luck Robbo & thanx for the highlights

Carlton have always had knockers for not having another forward option other then Fevola so he would add something for them and they'll be pressing for a premiership in the next few years. While St. Kilda who will also press again next year have the 2 talls in Riewoldt and Koschitzke, 2 smalls in Milne and Schneider but no good medium sized forward that demands a spot. Robbo could potentially fill that void. If he were to play on I'd prefer to see him at St. Kilda. Carlton or Geelong would just be far to painful to see!

Won't go to Saints. Carlton doubtful, but they do struggle a bit up forward besides fev and they did take CJ off our hands ( ).

Geelong only because they'd be desperately trying to cling to their closing window, but he doesn't typify the Geelong ethos at all.

They may take a gamble based on ability, but they'll have to teach a dog new tricks (ie. to do the hard things he has never done)

If he was fully fit and near his peak and the key forward in a top side. You would expect it. But any top side he is going to be one of a number of options. There is a good chance he might not get anywhere near that. Then there is the issue of defensive pressure.

I am not sure Robbo will get a gig anywhere but there is no harm in putting your hand up.

I just HATE the idea of Robbo playing in another Jumper.

Pretty tight defensive game wasn't it? If he did not kick a few in that pressureless weekend jolly he would have been worried. I did note he played mostly on a first year player. Ratten gave a kid a chance to get an education and Robbo came through with the lesson.

He is an old-school forward, the type that has never been big on the defensive pressure, and has struggled to adapt to the change. That's a shame, because he could have played on for another 2-3 seasons otherwise, and in the end, he has only himself to blame.

I'd run away from that post as well. Seems a theme running there.
