It's going to be a great day on the couch..

Too right. Makes me not so disappointed about missing my first MFC game in Victoria for the season.

As an aside, I really hope Casey smash the Zebs and return the favour for the drubbing they received in Round 1. Should definitely be a spiteful encounter.

Adding further fuel to the flame, the past comments made publicly by Zebra senior players in the pre-season, namely captain Peter Summers, regarding the split in alignment of MFC/Sandy, could be described as rather 'unsavory', unprofessional and a real backhander. The Zeb's would have felt well happy with themselves after the round 1 result seemingly justifying earlier said comments, so i hope we can serve it right back now.

And now that Casey are in form and Sandy seem to have lost their way, they're a big chance to shove the comments right down Summers' throat in front of their home crowd.

Carn' the Scorps!

Aren't we playing Collingwood Doggo?

This match has been moved for a while. I remember it coming up some time ago because I remember thinking "why are we playing Collingwood at TBO" so I wrote on that thread "why are we playing Collingwood at TBO?"

Same.

And it's going to be a great way to keep myself from finding out the results early and attempt to watch the match 'live'.

Watts followed by Jurrah and Grimes. Awesome!

Not again this H & A season I don't think.

Bugger. The way Sandy have been going lately, wouldn't surprise me if they missed finals this year too. Casey definitely look finals-bound at this stage.

Oh well, we'll just have to wait and see.

Might end up facing off in a spiteful and bloody final later in the year!

That so called "phone call" was a hoax...so you have your facts wrong!

And if there was any supposed "ill feeling" from the Melbourne players, then they didn't show it when quite a few of them turned up to a practice match at sandy at the same time Casey were playing a practice match at Casey Fields...

I look forward to playing Casey again...the way sandy are going it won't be in the finals this year..

good to see Mcnamara, Spencer and Buckley named in the Casey twos. Hopefully they can all break into the Melbourne seniors before the season is out. I would especially like to see McNamara get a game or 2 at the end of the year if he is up to it.

I really appreciated the alignment between Sandy and MFC, used to love going down to TBO. At the time when i heard about the "phone call", i was less than pleased. I'm glad to know that it was indeed a hoax.

I really rated Summers, still do, but had lost a lot of respect for him, so very glad it was a hoax! Sandy are a great club. No hard feelings on this end... Thanks Zebraman.

Likewise Doggo...I have no hard feelings towards Melbourne...we had some fantastic times...but we now have new partners...I actually approached Peter Summers about that call and he said that he got woken up by a mate of his who rang him to tell him that someone was on the radio using his name...

It's a strange draw when we play Casey in the 1st game then don't play them again this season...

I'm doing the scoreboard tomorrow at Sandy for the game so I'll certainly be hoping that Casey [censored] the pies

Pardon my ignorance Zeb, but how come the game is being played at TBO?

Collingwood's home ground this year is Visy Park...go figure...Collingwood playing home games at Carlton!

Lot of work going on there and they aren't able to play there this week...they approached Sandy a few weeks ago asking to play at Trevor Barker Oval...we get gate receipts, food sales and bar taking in the social club...we just have to provide Scoreboard, gate attendants etc...

I'm happy to do it as Sandy have a bye

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player w

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo
