True Believer 1 Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 Alot of the Richmond boys will be playing for their careers in the second half of the season (Richo, Brown, bowden etc) and you would think that rawlings wouldn't be trying to lose , time will tell absolutely horrid game... wasn't sure who was tanking more.... started off I thought West Coast... but then thought Tigers were doing a pretty good job at tanking too. It was soooo slow and boring. I know we played [censored] last week, but I hope we don't look like that !!!! ... atleast we look like we are trying.
Freak 100 Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 why is everyone so shocked? its a good plan by the eagles and they have done well. I think they could even steal pick 1 off us if we're not careful. we should be tanking too. round 14 against the eagles is a massive game. i'm calling it the scully cup now.
Goodvibes 3,596 Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 I only saw the second half but they were 3 goals down and had Lecras playing on the ball and Selwood deep forward..................... Lecras wasn't getting near it and Selwood helped create some much needed forward pressure. Can't a team just be crap anymore.
titan_uranus 25,376 Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 Even if West Coast tries to win the rest of their matches they'll struggle to do so. I think we're a good chance to get picks 1 and 3, with the Eagles getting picks 2 and 4.
Its Miller time 6 Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 I dont care how much and how badly West Coast are tanking you would have to rate them a good chance to win against Freo, Richmond and North all at Subiaco. They will win at least 1 of those and i dont see Melbourne winning 3 more.
deeflog 679 Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 I believe the signing of Worsfold to a contract extension is bad news for Melbourne. This lets Worsfold field a team he knows is not good enough to win games but does not put his position in question, thus the eagles can make a real "run" for the priority pick. <_< It looks more likely that Melbourne will end up with picks 1 and 3, which i think puts us in a better position for Trengrove at pick 3 as i think the Eagles will take Butcher at 2
sylvinator 96 Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 WCE play Richmond, Freo and Melbourne in the coming rounds... whether these teams like it or not, someone has to win these games. imo WCE, Richmond AND Freo will all win 5 games this season. Especially considering they all play eachother in the coming rounds.

Key game that for them in the tanking landscape. Toigs and Superhero-Cape Wharfies have coaches who are looking to prove something and under the pump respectively. That, a Subi stadium chock full of cash (ie long term financial security), and (IMO) a never in doubt contract extension, provides a clear path to a priority pick.
