Similar Players

After being forced by the AFL to sit through another Friday night match involving Colling%^&* I have come to notice a strange similarity between one of their players and one of ours....

A few years ago I only rated the Filth player as a once every 6 week freak, but now he is a solid little play maker with exquisite skills by foot...

Both players are looked for by their backmen to get the ball moving forward and in the hands of a team mate....

The kicks may only travel 20-25m, but each time they are perfect and straight on the other players [censored]....

They both travel forward and can kick the goals that spark their team.... Whether it be running flat out into the forward 50 or crumbing around the goals....

If you have not guessed already, I am comparing Aaron Davey to Leon Davis....

It makes me sick to find similarities between a beloved Dee and a filthy, commission flat Pie.....

But no $hit, they are fast becoming twins....

Just something I noticed last night that kept me from changing the channel

You're not alone KJ. I would have said Neon's a little more sturdy around the hips, but other than that there are similarities with brilliance, flair around the goals. I like Aaron for his ability to evade a little more unpredictably, Neon, I suspect has a little more weight to shift...

Not a classic comparison, but one of the things I like is that I think everyone thought of Aaron as a flash-in-the-pan (excuse the pun) but like Leon he's showing the ability this year to bring consistency into his game. Likewise both players' abilities to become legitimate midfielders, despite many peoples' doubts...

Very true DD....

Neon is definately more solid in the hip area and I would say he is a touch slower than Flash around the ground..... But both players (as you said) are proving a lot of people wrong.... Very important play makers for their respective teams, and both have obviously been working hard on their game over the last few years....

Yup. Neon is one of the few Pies I actually fear n terms of matchups... And coming from a demons supporter, that's saying something.

IF they can both stay injury free they are easily Top 2 in respective B&F's.....

Davey to be challenged by Moloney

Neon to be challenged by Pendlebury

Funny, last night I was thinking about how Dane Swan is Brock McLean in a better team. For now.

Davis to me is a little slower (not much) and a little stronger overhead. But swap Davis for Davey and there wouldn't be much of a difference at all.

Sylvia should be a Medhurst at minimum or even better. Right now he is not.

What's that got to do with the price of fish in China?!?!?!

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.
