Complaint about security on sunday

Featured Replies

I'm looking for a way to complain about the behaviour of the security guards on the top level of the ponsford stand last sunday. Anybody have any ideas.

I would try at the MCC tickets booths at gate 2. they at least should direct you.

Call the MCC, hopefully they can direct you to right department. If not, ask to speak to the events department.

Hope you can remember the security guards numbers.

If they were bad, I'd suggest sending an email to all of the Mcc, MFC, att Jim Stynes, (as he's our rep to the AFL & other bodies) & also THE AGE, att Caroline Wilson, as she is the type to follow up these things.

why not try the AFL Andrew Demetriou as well as above suggestions !!!

Was there fighting on the top level ponsford stand? I think what happened with the security last Sunday is that they were all at the Punt Rd end, between the Richmond Cheer Squad and the Grog squad, where they need high numbers.

No there wasn't, don't know what the problem is but we were under scoreboad, peaceful as anything we had a row of Toigs supporters in front of us, so we made sure we made a lot of noise....didn't hear or see any problems

It wasn't the end of the world, really, but is sure annoyed me, and more importantly, my wife, here's an excerpt of my email

Anyway on Sunday the two security guards posted in this section would not allow anybody to stand behind the black barrier and watch the game. In fact they weren't even allowing people to stand there and make a phone call to meet up with friends, or for one distressing group, allow tourists who were obviously from another country to stand there for a couple of minutes and take a photo of the ground while the action was taking place. My wife was told to sit down or move, while watching the children who were walking around the unused bar area. There behaviour was quite abrupt and in my opinion and others in the area way over the top. It was actually distressing some people.

Cool got it now, had similar myself in the past, called 'Jobsworth", "sorry mate you can't do that more than my jobs worth", it is an unfortunate by product of the times we live in that we have to have security everywhere.......they only know heavy handed, because polite does not work with drunken idiots.......although that is no excuse for their rudeness in different situations

The very best you'd get from the AFL boss is "I'll forward this on to the appropriate department", but I suspect you'd just get no answer. It's not his job to deal with any and every gripe people have. There's a chain of command for a reason.

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.
