Shape up or pay price, warns Melbourne's Dean Bailey

Do ya reckon Vossy would rather have TJ or Jack Grimes on his list?

I agree we made the right decision with the trade, but Grimes still has a hell of a lot to live up to.

It was the right decision regardless of how Grimes goes, IMO.

For mine he started to walk the walk before he had coached a game when he traded the highly payed but inconsistent Travis Johnstone for Pick 14.

If Bailey started to walk then, he must have tripped up when the players actually ran onto the ground for the 1st preseason game.

I agree with the trade too. Shouldn't be any pressure on Grimes with his footy though- or living up to TJ if that's what you mean...

I've always found that arguement a bit faulted. We traded for a draft pick, not for a player. If he's a dud then that reflects badly on the recruitment department, not the committee that traded him...

Judging by all reports on Grimes, i think you can hardly question the rationale behind recruiting him to the club, given his skills and leadership qualities etc.

If he turns out to be a dud, it would reflect badly on the development staff and footy coaches at the club IMO, not the recruitment people.

As such I would list it as a good trade showing good initiative and drive

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
