DRAFT 2008

Featured Replies

i don't want cornelius..he is not tall enough to play key position at only 192cm. He is a clone of brad fisher, and while he aint bad I would rather take a stab on someone that could be better. Cornelius has also pubilcly stated that he isnt tall enough for a key position and consequently has worked on being more of an opportunistic goal scorer.

As for suban, i like your thinking sylvinator.

And i dont think melbourne are in a position to take a risk on injured players(i.e Swift). We need as much help we can get from this draft..not the time to be making any risks. just my opinion.

In my humble opinion, I think we should consider these players for our first 3 picks, & also we should trade for another pick around 20 - 28 for another midfielder.

1. Watts

17. Blease

19. Shoenmaker - http://au.youtube.com/results?search_query..._type=&aq=f

20. - 28. Rhyce O'keefe, / Zaharakis, / T Lynch, / Broadbent

35. (ruckman)

Throw in:

Warrick Capper, Andrew Walker, Stuart Maxfield, Sam Newman, Brett Deledio, Brendan Goddard, Duncan Kellaway, Tim Callan, Lauchlan Henderson, Stewart Loewe, Brett Voss, Jarred Moore, Andrew Thompson, Andrew Gowers, Luke Penny, Chris Scott, Brad Scott, Josh Mahoney, Andrew Schauble, Stephen Powell.

Stewart Loewe went to an AGS school not an APS

Considering our picks positioning i have selected who i think we should and will take in the draft .

1. Watts

17. Mitch Brown

19. Ash Smith

Watts - We all know him

Mitch Brown - Mitch Brown is a different one from the Eagle…he is a Mentone Grammar boy who has grown from 174 to 193+ is 12 months. Kicked 7,7,6,8,7 in 5 games for mentone before 8 in the APS/AGS game. Dragons recruited him mid-season and he played the last 5 games. Diamond in the rough…I want him.

Ash smith - Ash Smith is a Haileybury boy who has had a bit of OP but seems to be alright now. At his peak he would be one of the quickest in the comp with an amazing penetrating kick.

Hasn’t played a heap this year, but will be a jet.

Thats my view and thats what i want.....Brett O'farrel is a bad example he was always pooz

Mitch Brown for mine. He went to my old school so he MUST be GOOD!

mitch brown is a gun wc think he plays similair to glen jackovich

I'm of the same opinion, dee-luded. Would be happy with Tom Lynch.

edit: like the look of Shoenmaker too as a KPP option. I like these selections!!

Made my final decision on what I'd like to see from Melbourne come trade week and the draft. Trade Caroll and pick 51 to Hawthorn for pick 50, Wonna and pick 35 to brisbane for pick 25.

DRAFT:

1. J. Watts

17. S. Blease

19. J. Roughead

25. J. Lile

50. A. Lee

PSD:

1. Prismall

I won't even go into the suggestion of Hawthorn taking Carroll.

You value Wona as lowly as a 10 pick upgrade? I know he's from the rookie draft, but i think that's selling his value a little short

And i assume you mean Jordan Lisle at pick 25?

i just want connolly or bailey or someone to come out and say.. yes we will be trying to land another top 20 draft pick.

Thanks for picking me up on that, yeah I meant Jordan Lisle. Also although my mock trade of Wonna and pick 35 to pick 25 is only a ten pick upgrade I think it'd be worth it. I do like Wonna but just think he's limited in his ability just as a small forward. Also we still have Davey and Maric around so I think trading him for an upgrade of ten now could be worth it, otherwise in a couple of years time he may be playing with Casey with no trade value.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.
