1. Melbourne - Jack Watts - Cant see the club overlooking a talented KPF prospect.

2. West Coast - Daniel Rich - The best midfielder. Will boost the Eagles ageing midfield.

3. Fremantle - Nicholas Naitnui - Freak athlete and always improving. Experienced at Senior level.

4. Port Adelaide - Hamish Hartlett - Showed his class at the Nationals. Midfielder with polish.

5. Essendon - Michael Hurley - With Michael retiring and Fletcher on his last legs. The Bombers will boost their defensive stocks with Hurley.

6. Carlton - Jack Ziebell - Couldnt overlook Ziebell at Selection 7. Pacy midfielder with good skills.

7. Brisbane Lions - Nick Suban - Gutsy midfield/winger. Will add depth to the Lions midfield.

8. Richmond - Tyrone Vickery - The Tigers will be ecstatic to get Vickery with Pick 8.

9. Collingwood - Steele Sidebottom - A versatile utility. Will play alot of senior football in 2009.

10. North Melbourne - Lewis Johnston - With Nathan Thompson looking likely to retire, NMFC should take Johnston.

11. Sydney - Mitch Robinson - A great pick for the Swans. Ready made midfielder.

12. Adelaide - Aaron Cornelius - Best available Forward prospect. Will need to time to develop.

13. St.Kilda - Neville Jetta - Smoky of the draft. The Saints need to inject some pace to their forward line.

14. Western Bulldogs - Ayce Cordy - Father/Son rule. Seems one of the most sure picks of the draft.

15. Hawthorn - Sam Blease - Quick outside running player. Versatile through the midfield and down back.

16. Geelong - Shaun McKernan - Next best KPP.

17. Melbourne - Chris Yarran - Talented but missing a few ingrediants. Will be a fantastic pickup at 17.

18. West Coast - Tom Swift - Suits the Eagles needs for a strong running player. WA boy and does the business in the WAFL.

19. Melbourne - David Zaharakis - Dynamic midfielder. Ball magnet who can kick goals. At times inconsistent.

I think Clancee Pearce, Ryan Shoenmakers, Matt De Boer & Steve Hill could all go top 19 too.

we've already got davey, and woenamirri- we won't draft yarran

If he's the best available they will

If Yarran hasn't been picked up by our pick 17 I would be surprised if we didn't read out his name. I know earlier on in the year we were thinking he could be a top 3 candidate.

Port will get Vickery

Yeah! That would'nt surprise me. We need to take him at No.1!

Not a bad effort mate, you need to tidy the order up a bit though, the 9-12 picks are mixed up. I doubt Suban will go as high as 7. If you swap Suban and Yarran youre looking a bit better.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
