He was going very well, then did his hammy at the start of the third quarter. At least he'll have a long preseason to recover.

yeah. l was down on the wing and l reckon he was doing okay till he did his hammy

I thought Petterd was excellent til injury. His work ethic was great and found lots of the footy.

Many positives, just got to get his body right now.

something must be wrong with pettrd only 3 games this year and looks out of sorts again, what is the problem with him?

Bit harsh I think. Struggled with injury all year and as you say has only played 2 or 3 games this year. Was a good idea to give him a run today just to get a taste again and I doubt too much was expected of him. Full pre season will do him good. Must admit he looks like he has put on a few kg`s which is good and will put 3 or 4 more on over summer!

Yet again another spray from some illiterate asking what the problem is.

He is a kid who nearly died playing for your football club and who in 2008 has overcome injury to press for selection.

He made it, as he will in the long run. Go bark elsewhere 'juice.

Lung injury, barely no preseason = low base of fitness.

Then why the f**k play him? There was no need to play two kids (Grimes) who have had injury interrupted seasons today. Why risk them?

The experience will be helpful come Round 1, 2009. Mainly in the case of Grimes.

Experience? What if Grimes had of aggravated his back today, in a 'who cares' last game of the season? I'm sorry if no one agrees with me, but ONE game at the end of a miserable winter, does not constitute experience IMO.

If there was a chance of aggrivation then he wouldnt of played.

Does it really matter that Grimes played his first game. Would you of rathered seeing Weetra out there?

No, Bate, Dunn, Martin. I just think players should earn their spot as well. Just cos they were taken highly in the draft, doesn't mean they should automatically be played. I think DB may have been trying to appease supporters. I'd prefer to have seen him Rd. 1 next season, thats all.

He was one of Sandringhams best last week...

Over how many weeks?

One, with 2-3 solid senior performances before that. Not to forget some excellent form in the reserves.

OK, his selection probably wasnt form warranted. It will be valuable though. He's had a taste of the AFL, and the level it commands. His debut will be a big confidence boost too.

And so you should.

Grimes worked his butt off to recover from injury, complete his own version of a pre-season and he earnt a senior game because of it. He deserves to be rewarded for effort, plus giving him a taste now means he can get that nervous first game out of the way and concentrate really hard on what he now knows he needs to improve on.

There was nothing pointless about giving Grimes a game today. There are a handful of other players who were far less deserving of a game and who haven't worked nearly as hard as Grimes has to just make it onto the field this year.

Oh by the way. Re Draft Molan is a joke amongst a few of my mates who are also Dees supporters. We found it bewildering/amusing, the club 're-drafted' Luke after delisting him. Perhaps they thought he had improved in the 2 months he was not at the club. It's nothing personal against Luke, maybe a dig at the Footy dept. for wasting 2 draft picks.

    TRAINING: Monday 20th January 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov
