Juice Newton needs to..

Featured Replies

He also needs a few things called "commitment" and "dedication" and "urgency". I'd focus on them before body weight.

Me too. Newton's shown he can leap (tried 2 different MOTY contenders on the weekend), but he's yet to show me he's committed and dedicated.

He showed me that in the first quarter yesterday. His pressure in that quarter was really very good for a big guy. Four tackes from Juice in the first quarter was great to see.

Kick 5 in a game and then I'll start to take him seriously. Until then he doesn't deserve the "air" time he gets (pardon the pun).

This kid is a confidence player. I've bagged him relentlessly from what I've seen at Sandy and his few games in the seniors however...

I was pleasantly surprised at what I saw on the weekend but he's still unsure of himself. As most AFL players think in their early days, 'Do I fit in? Have I got what it takes? Do I feel like I'm a real member of this team?' Not as yet....

But as the team grows and develops he could blossom. Or not. It's up to Juice. But he's shown something to hang your hat on for the time being.

I'd be surprised if DB didn't play him deep into next year.
