Bet he will be lucky. He shouldnt be in the team. Its the selectors fault. Especially Greg Chappell.

Seriously all power to him. When Australia needed fortitude in this series he has delivered in spades. Its a pity others bar Haddin have not backed him up.

And is Michael Clarke our next Test Captain? I dont this so. And given his bad back, I cant see Clarke even bending down to pick up the bowling run up marker let alone bowl a ball.

I like Hussey's attitude. I admire him for it. I'll gladly raise my hand and say prior to the Ashes that he was just about on the cusp of missing selection (for he probably was in many people eyes), but what Hussey has is what many don't have. That fighting spirit. Like the way he loads up with 30+ and zinc cream as if he's about to spend a week out there in the middle. He can grind out an innings when things are tough, much like S.Waugh before him. It may not look pretty, but it has teeth. Whereas the more fancied beautiful stroke makers don't seem to grind when in need. And wasn't I glad to see the back of North.

As for Clarke, he'll gladly bend down to pull up a new pair of Bonds. I'll leave it at that.

Victoria beat Sa last night, thats a good distraction and after Mackays bowling vs England, would he be a shot of replacing either Johnson or Siddle if they fail?

What about Quiney's innings ! 100 odd off 60 odd balls or something like that...awesome display. Hodge this morning said it was one of the most memorable innings he had seen.

that was very very impressive effort, hope we can pick up the slack in the Shield, any idea who the import players for Bushrangers in 20 20 are?

Let's not throw the baby out with the bath water just yet WYL. Whilst Hussey is still digging in and England still have to face the music (I hope it's music to our ears.... ). There is two innings to be played too. I'm obviously an optimist. Cricket has always been a funny game delivering peaks and troughs.

PS. Your pick after Rogue in the Draft which is taking place on the other thread.....please take a look.

I admire your optimism HT, but with our bowling attack i cannot see it.

I wonder what Mitchell Johnson will dish up. Will he be switched on or not Bat and ball. Since the stoush with his mum he just hasn't been right.

Whats the go with Tait, is he injured?

Forget his mum. That would be the last thing on he's mind playing for Australia with his career on the line. Or so you'd think, anyway.

He just needs to put his best foot forward. He has been wayward previously, but he can take wickets. All four bowlers are arguably in the same boat.

Whats the go with Tait, is he injured?

I think he's retired from Test cricket and wanted to concentrate on the shorter forms of games.

yeah his bowling seems to really stuff up his shoulder. What about forgotten players Bracken,Jacques,Macdonald?

4 overs from Tait might still help us out at the moment, i think that is all he feels his body can give.

Bracken - I don't think the selectors feel he suits Test matches. Better for the One day/20/20 game.

Jacques - has a good Test average. The forgotten man really. May get a look in... ?

McDonald - Injury cruelled him after some excellent innings with the VICS, still returning to the VICS soon I gather; rehabilitating.

Which is not enough for Test Cricket.

according to the website he is staring with the bat in the Shield with an average of 94 in the matches he has played(macdonald)

I know it's early and it's probably a silly call by me, but just watching Hussey's body language, that fidgiting around like he has ants in his pants. I'm tipping he'll dig deep for us...again.

It's such a pity this post was on the other page for others not to see. Once again the man is digging deep in a crisis and Haddin is by his side...again. Hussey 59 not out.

Told you WYL...never throw the baby out with the bath water.

Hussey gone , can we make at least 250 now?

Short lived. Always the way when you give someone a wrap live....out for 61. Still, he dug deep when in need. Whilst others continue to struggle.

Argh, Hussey just went out. To Swann. And we don't have a spinner.

Smith is not good enough for no. 6 and thus shouldn't be in the side.

Hehehe You spoke to early HT. i threw out the bath water about 2 hours ago, that said the Australian Top order should be ashamed, the way Haddin and Hussey played those boundries the pitch is not to blame.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
