Rhino Richards. My condemnation has been backed up by stats..how can you defend his pathetic performances the past 4-5 years? in 80% of his games over his career he has got less than 10 touches. how can you defend that?...Once a year miller plays well and you all come out saying he is good and worth having, but you go missing the other 21 games of the year. Come back in 2 weeks time, i dare you.

Your condemnation has been based on no more than hot air that you have espoused on the guy. If you check the threads I have been a long term critic of Miller performances. However, I have not repeatedly stooped to hyberbolic labelling as the "worst.....". He's got limitations but I acknowledge he has been working very hard in difficult circumstances and the effort he puts in. He shows a truck more leadership than some past and present "star" players. He will never be an A grader.

But credit where crdit is due. Given what the Club has been through in the past 18 months and being 52 points down at half time, his game was very good...for 4 quarters. He is going to have good and bad days and no one on the site has branded him a star. But they seem to recognise the basics that you are blind too.

But the thing is I dont make or break a player on one good/bad game. I recognise where he is at as a player and also acknowledge efforts made to get the most out of himself.

I am happy to address this again in two weeks. Do you reckon you can work out how the P Pick system works by then?

I thought Robbo tried for all four quarters today but the way the ball was coming in meant it was basically landing on top of his head. Two of the three goals we kicked in the first half were directly assisted by him - long kick from outside 50 to Green leading back into the goal square in the first quarter and the handpass to Miller in the second (also credited with a hardball get on the AFL site).

Provided a contest early in the game and kicked important goals.

I don't disagree that he needs to do that every week, but you've got to give credit when due.

For most of the game, Miller played deeper than he usually does. He was starting leads just forward of the goalsquare, rather than closer to CHF. This is where he belongs, but often clashes with the leads of Robbo and Neitz.

Dare I say it, maybe Neita needs to move away from FF as our deep forward line has been functioning better without?

Thoughts?

Sadly the team now performs better without Neitz

Just because you touch the ball less than 10 times doens't mean you don't make an impact.

Melbourne v Carlton, round 4 this year. B. Fevola. 7 kicks, 2 handballs. Total, 9 disposals.

7 goals. Likely to get brownlow votes (check this space in September!)

The argument that getting less than 10 touches makes you a crap player is therefore not lay-down-misere compelling. Sure, Brad will have had games where he's got less than 10 touches and been crap on that day. So will many players. But possessions are not the be all and end all. Just ask Joel Bowden. It's what you do with them and the other little things you do around the ground to back that up. I need to hear more than 'he gets less than 10 touches a game' to justify your criticism.

I'd suggest if you're looking for a game breaker Miller is not your guy. If you're looking for someone who puts in a 100% effort, shows leadership and attack on the ball, Miller should be first picked. It wouldn't surprise me if those criteria are pretty high up on Bailey's list - that's why Bailey would have been very disappointed by his suspension but also why he brought him straight back into the team when he was available.

there were a lot of people who called for it... both players were very important for us in winnig the game today, a game we wouldn't have won if they was dropped like so many people called for...

so, who wanted them out... come forward...

have to say l wanted Miller out but not Robbo, l'm glad to admit l was wrong and eat my words but 1 good game does NOT make a season

Neitz will probably play a couple of games at the end of the season, when we will be playing for draft picks and then retire

I don't believe i was wrong with the priority pick system. i used the herald sun as a reference point so if thats wrong then i guess so am i..but i think it would be more accurate than wikipedia which you used. or someone else. its NOT 16.5 points like someone suggested. 4.5 wins was the base point and i said that.

Robbo does not work hard enough when things are going against him, but he is still by far our best forward. That doesn't mean he shouldn't follow team rules like everyone else, but right now you will be hard-pressed to find a replacement for him.

I think finally getting the game plan and winning the clearances, enabling us to move the ball QUICKLY to our forwards where there's a one-on-one situation, also helped Robbo (and all the other forwards).

As for Miller, I think I've said all there is to say about him. Yesterday's performance proved that he is capable of being a damaging player, as well as a great leader. It's all about confidence and belief.

Wrong again.

you got 2 weeks legend!

You saying on the back of your "research" that 18 points would get you a PP.

Brad Miller played awesome. I've always been a fan of his but he needs to string a few of those performances together. His contested marking is outstanding. Never thought I'd say this, but Neita being out of the team has actually helped him IMO.

Robbo was lucky that McPharlan got injured. Dodd had no idea.

If Miller played Freo every week he would be All Australian too bad there are another 14 teams he can't get a kick against but he was awesome. I never thought I would use awesome and Miller in the same sentence.

Never called for them to be dropped, primarily because we had no other options.

Yeah, all well and good to call for players to be dropped, but you need to replace them with someone better in order to have a positive return...

Posted
Under the current priority pick system, a team only receives a pick before round one of the draft if they have less than 4.5 wins in a season for two-straight years.

http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/sport/afl...3-19742,00.html

this is what i posted before. need i say more

You shouldnt say anything Freak because you asserted that if Richmond with 18pts would get a PP and you shot yourself in the foot with your own research that stated otherwise.

Anyway back on more meaningful discussions...I agree with you bjgc that Miller needs to back his performance against Freo because where he is at he is play for his future each week.
