If you think about it Neeld would be stoked to get the sack - a year and a half paid work ($600,000) for nothing! .......maybe he was tanking as coach? - here comes another investigation!

So todays summary: ......... TBA at a later date http://www.afl.com.au/video/2013-06-03/footy-feed-dee-day-crow-concern-and-more http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/football-world-waits-on-neeld-verdict-20130603-2nlfq.html Melbourne coach Mark Neeld has left the club board meeting at the MCG and returned to AAMI Park accompanied by player development manager Todd Viney and high performance manager Neil Craig. There is no word yet on the outcome of the meeting or Neeld's future at the club. Neeld arrived at the monthly board meeting around 2pm, accompanied by sports performance director Neil Craig and football manager Josh Mahoney. Coaches presentations usually take half an hour to complete, but the presentation on Monday took an hour and a half. Though the meeting was scheduled, it was moved to lunchtime from an evening time slot, with many expecting the case for and against retaining Neeld to be the main point of business. Speaking on SEN radio, former Melbourne player David Schwarz said it would be unfair to Neeld, players and supporters if a decision is not made today. It is believed that if Neeld is given his marching orders, his senior assistant Neil Craig will take over as caretaker coach. The large media contingent, some of whom had been outside the club's training base AAMI Park since 6am, has now moved to the MCG. Demons president Don McLardy declined to talk about Neeld’s future when entering the meeting this morning. "It’s a board meeting, mate, it’s been scheduled all year," he said. "No other expectations." Melbourne lost to Hawthorn on Sunday at the MCG by 95 points, kicking just one goal in the first half in fine conditions. It was the club's seventh loss by 10 goals or more this season, and its average losing margin is 76.6 points. Neeld has coached the Demons 32 times, for five wins, with six losses of over 90 points and an average overall losing margin of over ten goals. Commentators including Tim Watson and Kevin Bartlett this morning felt Neeld's position was in jeopardy. Former Carlton, Fitzroy, Brisbane and Richmond coach Robert Walls also felt Neeld's role was under threat. "If the board feel … (it) is falling away and disenchanted, they (will) probably feel compelled to make a move on Mark Neeld. But if they feel that the sponsors will stick fat, (and) the members say, 'We'll support you to the end of the year,' and the players aren’t dead-set against the coach, they might just say, 'Well, we just battle on for the remaining 12 games,'," Walls told SEN radio. Walls said Melbourne's track record could make it hard for the club to attract a well-known coach if it sacked Neeld. "If they sack Mark Neeld, a prospective coach would look at them and say, 'Well, they've sacked Dean Bailey, they've sacked Mark Neeld, they've sacked (former CEO) Cameron Schwab, they've sacked this one (and) that one; I don’t know if I'd want to go into that environment. Walls said if the club axed Neeld, it should target experienced coaches such as Rodney Eade or Mark Williamsas his replacement.

So all fat greek kids then?
-
I think I let go of the rod also....
-
lol....that would explain our success in the 3rd quarter's this year!
-
Expect an announcement soon saying that some decision will be made at the next board meeting ....... in a months time! Due to running out of time after Neeld tried to explain to the board the idea of KPI's
-
Please don't do that - you almost game me a heart attack

4pm: Still waiting to hear the outcome of the board meeting, if any. Earlier today Damian Barrett told AFL.com.au's 'Access All Areas' that Melbourne's board had already decided Neeld would not coach next season, and his exit was now just a matter of timing. Watch the video here. Barrett also said Demons president Don McLardy may soon be replaced, and that interim CEO Peter Jackson was facing pressure to take the job on a permanent basis. So in summary they are saying that if all this hype is for nothing it is Damian Barretts fault! lol Isn't there someway we can blame this on caroline wilson?
-
I doubt he would ditch his MFC gear - have you noticed how cold it is outside?
-
Did he have a cardboard box with him?
-
Well either Josh Kleine has some serious inside sources or this is false statement because the media would be on to it by now
-
Any chance of bringing Maximilien de Robespierre back from the dead? I bet he could get a few heads rolling!
-
This brings me back to the tom scully days - constantly refreshing for updates! lol
-
I would be very unhappy if Neeld is the only one to fall! How many scapegoats can we have? It is one of the reasons we are in this mess - because we don't make the decisions when they need to be made. I agree with Barrett 1. Neeld has to go - but when ever is best for the club (at seasons end if best for new coach) 2. Mclardy has to go - again has to be when we have a replacement ready (no interim) 3. Jackson becomes full time
-
Josh Kleine? - reliable source?

Yer nothing in it http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/melbourne-coach-mark-neeld-says-his-job-is-safe/story-fni5f91a-1226655470508

Seems to be mixed opinions of this board meeting: 7am: Here we are at a decisive Monday for the Melbourne Football Club. Coach Mark Neeld is set to face his board at 2pm Melbourne time after yesterday's 95-point shellacking at the hands of Hawthorn. After the loss, Neeld again said his job was not in jeopardy but the external pressure continues to build. Demons president Don McLardy yesterday said that significant change was coming to the club but did not go into specifics. Neeld has just a 15.62 winning percentage as coach since taking over at the start of last year, but the coach is adamant the club is on the right path under his tutelage and the results were to be expected. While not good reading for Neeld, here's some further stats which may be brought up at today's board meeting: - 32 games coached for 5 wins, 27 losses - Only teams beaten are GWS (three times), Gold Coast and Essendon (six points) - Lost 13 games by more than 60 points (and 16 by more than 50) - Lost three games by more than 100 (and six by more than 90) Average losing margin in 2012: 50.7 Average losing margin in 2013: 76.6 Average losing margin under Neeld: 63.65 points 7.30am: AFL.com.au's Peter Ryan has identified the five key questions the Melbourne board must consider:1) Have Neeld's changes been good for the club? 2) Is the Demons' recruiting in good hands? 3) Does the board share Neeld's belief that the club's long-term goals are on track? 4) Is Neeld the man for the job? 5) Can the club weather the fallout if Neeld is retained? 8am: AFL great Robert Walls has weighed into the Neeld debate on SEN Radio "If the board feel … (it) is falling away and disenchanted, they (will) probably feel compelled to make a move on Mark Neeld. But if they feel that the sponsors will stick fat, (and) the members say, 'We'll support you to the end of the year,' and the players aren’t dead-set against the coach, they might just say, 'Well, we just battle on for the remaining 12 games.' "If they sack Mark Neeld, a prospective coach would look at them and say, 'Well, they've sacked Dean Bailey, they've sacked Mark Neeld, they've sacked (former CEO) Cameron Schwab, they've sacked this one (and) that one; I don’t know if I'd want to go into that environment. "I think if they did go for another coach, why wouldn’t you look at Rodney Eade or (Mark) 'Choco' Williams? Because I think they need to have someone who’s got some credits, who's been there and done it … and are still in the game, still at the workface, and Eade and Williams tick that off." 8.15am: AFL.com.au's Matt Thompson is at Demons headquarters and says a media contingent has been covering multiple entrances to AAMI Park since before sunrise. 8.30am: Football manager Josh Mahoney has arrived at AAMI Park, when asked by reporters whether Neeld would survive he said it was a case of 'wait and see'. 9am: Mark Neeld has arrived in club gear at Melbourne's AAMI Park headquarters. He drove through a boom gate and entered via a back door. Venue security prevented media from getting close enough for him to answer questions. 10am: Demons president Don McLardy has arrived at AAMI Park, but has declined to comment on whether the coach's fate would be decided at today's board meeting. "It's a board meeting, mate; it's been scheduled all year," he told AFL.com.au reporter Matt Thompson. "No other expectations." 11am: Potential caretaker coach Neil Craig has just arrived at AAMI Park and was swamped by news crews, reports AFL.com.au's Matt Thompson. He politely declined questions, referring reporters to the club's media manager. Nick Butler @NickButler10 A young Demon just confirmed that the players have no Idea if Mark Neeld will still be coaching at the end of the day. Midday: The board meeting is due to start now at the MCG. Neeld scheduled to front the meeting at 2pm. Mark Conway@AFL_MarkConway If the Dogs had lost their past two games Brendan McCartney's coaching record would be identical to Neeld's (5-26) #AFL Tom Mendelsohn@Igroki The weak decision today would be to sack coach Mark Neeld. Would be a choice to placate a few members. Nothing more. #melbfc #afl Vanessa Hughes@audreylwritingf Footy starts and ends in the middle. Melbourne have no midfielders. No coach can win games worth no midfielders. What is Neeld to do?

Wow this is now a serious media event: updates http://www.afl.com.au/news/2013-06-03/dees-meet-rolling-coverage http://www.afl.com.au/video/2013-06-03/the-demons-what-will-happen-what-went-wrong
-
Yer well Schwab was in no apparent danger one day and then fired the next
-
So if we get rid of Neeld I guess we will have to pay off the rest of his contract? Thats going to be 1.5 years - like $500,000? So that doubles our tanking investigation fine. Any chance of the AFL helping us out with getting a new coach (an early Christmas present?)
-
And so he should! pisses me off to see Neeld so calm and say things like "the effort was great..."
-
I have been thinking about this meeting today but dont' know if its even worth thinking about because I doubt anything major will happen today and if it does then of course we won't be told about it until ... 7 months or whatever. I think the main thing that Demon fans want are answers and the truth - I hope they do tell us today and don't take months to make a decision! I am sick of being left in the dark whilst my club deteriorates
-
Not much to say really .. but looking forward to what ever unfolds on monday One thing I couldn't stand today was the kicking ino the foward line - shesh! We continue to kick it to the pockets and it gets punched out of bounds - kick it to the hot spot!
-
I thought Taggerts biggest weakness was his fitness? - wasn't he one of the slowest on the track over preseason? - maybe that was due to injuries
-
