  1. Peter Jackson is clearly a magician! Only problem is what happens when Roos wakes up from his trance?
  2. All of us are on the edge - clearly dee-luded is a devoted demon. If you want to find your 'sunny-day demon supporters' you won't find any here.
  3. How about instead of being the "last day of a dismal demon era" it is the "first day of a deestructive demon dynasty" Just saying.... I still want to win this game!
  4. Something like - what was Rodans number when he played for Melbourne or how many goals did he kick for Melbourne....... I can't answer either of those
  5. I don't really have much to say but our scatter gun approach failed. I wish him all the best in the future and hope the youngsters got something out of him. Knee injury forces Rodan to retire
  6. I meant coaches that have been fired - not all coaches are fired - some need a break and some move clubs (Lyon, Malthouse, Bomber Thompson etc.) I just can't see us poaching a coach like Carlton or Fremantle - we are always left with the scraps because a. we don't have balls and b. no serious non washed up coach (successful current or previous coach - Roos) wants to join us.
  7. True - you can see it that way if you want. I just don' see Paul Roos as that kind of bloke. Whats the point of "waxing lyrical"? why would he do that?
  8. Meaning not in the near future (next year). He does not want to rule himself out of coaching in 3 to 5 years time.
  9. There is nothing to make transparent! He said he is not interested in coaching next year. Paul Roos, has told both clubs he is "definitively not interested" http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/paul-roos-tells-brisbane-lions-and-melbourne-hes-not-interested-in-either-coaching-job/story-fni5f22o-1226698787702
  10. If Paul Roos was coach next year I would send the MFC my pocket money but we all know thats not going to happen. Instead we will get a washed out coach like Eade, Craig or Williams and I will tell myself that they bring us hope but will most likely be experiencing deja vu again in 3 years time. Yes it will be great to get a coach with experience but why are the only possible coaches the ex-coaches? The AFL coaching system is a joke - you fire one coach and replace them with another fired coach. Having finished my rant - I don't know which coach is best but I expect the MFC to get the best one possible. I would have thought that a coach/assistant structure would be a good idea for us. (Essendon - Hird/Thompson). Maybe a Willams/Eade with Ratten as assistant? (I don't know) We need to fix our club structure once and for all and if that requires getting people like Bomber Thompson then so be it (he was shocked when he arrived at Essendon and if he could even inject a tenth of Geelong into Melbourne it would be worth it). Pun intended. Time to start poaching high profile Geelong staff members (may as well do the channel 7 make up team a favor and get Ling as well). The way I see it this is our last chance of a rebuild - we may be restricted by the amount of on field changes but there is nothing stopping us making of field changes - get the best facilities, the best staff etc. Our last board seemed to be so worried about money that they forgot about the football - money will follow with results. We need to be aggressive - being conservative will not bring in results and therefore nor money. The coach is the puppet master but without good puppets the show will be a bust. Get the best puppet master then get him the best freaking puppets he has ever seen!
  11. I am hoping the club has volunteered to chip in but then again we are in a bit of a pickle.
  12. Thanks WJ that was a fascinating interview - I couldn't pull myself away from it even though I was running late for something... I stupidly found myself believing Mark Thompson. I thought it was very interesting when he said that the Essendon football club was very poorly structured when he got there and that it was his job to fix that. We need someone just like him (from a culture/club like Geelong) - it would be tempting to offer him a job to help build our club with Geelong like foundations. He would like to step out of the spot light but I don't think he will walk on Essendon and we won't get him in any capacity anyway. But the point is we should really be targeting high profile Geelong staff who know what makes a good football club and culture. Ling is not a staff member but would be a good start.
  13. Where are our wealthy die hard demon supporters with private jets? The team can't afford to do that and if they did it would throw a spanner into Neelds heat training (Darwin)
  14. I found this quite funny - Paul Little heads already so far up his ass he still thinks they are innocent. http://www.afl.com.au/video/2013-08-27/essendon-reacts-to-supplements-penalties The admissions relate to governance and people management not the administration of prohibited or harmful substances. Importantly there is no allegation of drug cheating. As per the deed of settlement the AFL acknowledge that neither the Essendon football club nor any of the individuals charged set out to implement a supplements program that would result in players being administered prohibited or potentially harmful substances Our first priority has been the welfare of our players, this will always be paramount for the Essendon football club. That all explains why they are excepting a 2 million dollar fine, no finals, no draft picks etc. Seriously Paul Little go tell someone who cares or even harder someone who believes it (Hird would love to hear it and would enjoy the company in his cell).
  15. Yer sorry I new that - just a brain fade (all this Essendon stuff)
  16. That was one of the best introductions to a thread! - despite all that that has happened we will always have our humor. Surely the MFC has had enough time to hide the syringes and delete some txts. Seriously ever heard of a secret second phone and an alias?....... (Heisenberg for example) Don't txt someone asking for injections on your own phone and don't use real names! As for Trengove he would never knowingly use anything illegal (the guy plays puzzles in his free time and from memory protects bears or something...)
  17. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BSpIL1_CIAAU8YM.jpg:large I thought that was worth sharing.
  18. Our improvement will come from droppng duds like Sellar, Gilles, Rodan, Nicholson etc. and replacing them with good onfield leaders from the draft. Once we have a culture/team that is willing to bust their balls at training and gameday then we will start to see improvement across the board. I think right now our players aren't playing for anything (they know they won't win and know they can't make finals so whats the point). We need to get 2 good mids (trade) who can come in and have an immediate impact - when we begin to win a few games our tails will begin to wag and they might start putting their bodies on the line. The biggest improvement could come from the 22-25 year olds (like the improvement in Garland and Jones) - Trengove, Watts etc.
  19. Of course culture is important - just look at Geelong they have achieved prolonged success through a rich winning culture. This culture has not only enabled success but also enabled them to develop youth at a very high standard. Culture effects everything - training standards, game day results, development (mental/physical) etc. We seem to be the only club without a decent culture and it is all a result of previous mistakes (tanking). We need to get some real leaders into the club (and get Clark and Dawes on the field). There is no quick fix - like Craig has said we are used to losing and losing is easy. MFC The rest of AFL
  20. I think its 50% a physical problem and 50% a mental one - even against GWS and GC we lose in this area. Jack Watts seems to always be out of reach when it comes to a tackle - as if he deliberately puts distance between him and his tackler. Most of Jack Watts tackles end with no more than a couple fingers on the jumper - arms fully stretched. I think he can do better than half hated attempts - I long to see a bone crunching tackle from Watts.
  21. Let the posters vent some steam - thats really the only thing we have left to do. If we were a good side I would agree with you but we are not. No one is suggesting we lost the game because of the umpires. We all know why we lost the game. Discord between umpires and fans is just part of our game - whether your educated or not.
  22. Can you count? You are a Collinwood supporter trolling demonland aren't you!
  23. That will come with confidence - look at Kent, Fitzy or Spencer. A handful of good games and a good preseason and he will feel as if he deserves to be out there. (both Fitzy and Spencer said they played better/more confidently when they thought they had earned their spot in the team)
  24. It totally depends on what is available - No point dropping Tynan for a pick like 100. Taggert is a MUST KEEP - has not had a full preseason yet due to injuries, has a good build, is a tall midfielder, can kick goals (and we desperately need mids) - Like a better version of Evans 2 years ago! This is who I would delist in rough order - could keep one of Davis, Jetta and Tynan for depth/depends whats available. (e.g. Now that Davey has retired Byrnes is really our only small forward which could save Jetta - he has potential - depends on draft/trade table). Delist: Macdonald and Davey (retired), Nicholson, Sellar, Gilles, Rodan, Jetta, Davis and Tynan (depending on whats available) Rookies: delist: Magner and Couch (replace with youth - potential)
  25. .....I don't know is that legal? Sounds like something a good team would do. We don't want to play with the rules of the game - lets just keep handballing it to still players just to be safe.
