  1. Out of those I think Strauss has the greatest potential but he is on thin ice. He showed a bit at the start of the year then got injured. Returned via Casey where he was in the bests for a few weeks in a row but couldn't break into the side. With Grimes, Terlich, Jetta and Clisby he is going to have a tough time getting back into the side. One thing he has on top of those 4 and the rest of our defence is a good kick. Needs to find an aggressive edge and find the ball more at AFL level. Blease - has some upside but also some deficiencies (Defence/decision making/team player) Nicho - I think he is just not up to AFL but then I thought that about Pedo Tappy - At the start of the year I couldn't really see him playing a specific role but after seeing Pedo, Jetta etc. if he can stay on the park he could mould his game on Chappy (like Pedo needs to pull some speed and agility out of nowhere)
  2. 3:20 on AFL website - I would go with that I am also disappointed that a blockbuster (only game on Monday) is being played in the afternoon??? Should be 2:00 start
  3. Frawley down back? I guess it depends on how strong Collingwoods forward line is - I guess we could just change it around in game to confuse Collingwood
  4. Don't forget Watts. I think if you throw in JKH and Kent it adds a bit but Dawes, Frawley and Gawn would probably work better - Not that Pedo isnt doing great its just Frawley is big, quick and agile making the forwad line less "cumbersome" Pedo has shown he can play back - so he can be 4th defender behind Garland, McDonald and Dunn - add Howe, Terlich/Grimes and that should hold the filth at bay Watts Dawes Kent JKH Gawn Frawley Would be a pretty tough forward line to match up on given that Frawley Watts and Dawes are tall, agile and quick. On top of that they need a tall for Gawn,
  5. That was 4 mins of my life I will never get back! Il just add it onto the last 7 years. I am predicting a crowd of 72,000
  6. I think that might defeat the purpose of doing a 3 word player analysis
  7. Strange - I always found that after kicking a goal I played my best footy
  8. Although the next 8 matches look tough at first glance - there are some very winnable games there. A competitive match against Port is all I ask for. Then we have Collingwood (6th), Essendon (11th), Norh (8th) - three teams which are not really playing the brand of footy you would expect from them - all winnable (Looking forward to the Queens birthday match!) Then we play the Bulldogs - which I expect to win. I think it is very reasonable to expect two wins out of those 4 matches. I think a competitive game against Port (<25 pts) and a win against Collingwood could give us great momentum.
  9. We could bring in a couple potential successors and pick the best - or groom Rawlings as a potential back up But otherwise I agree - Ling can't become a senior coach in 1-2 years time. Whoever we choose I hope we will still have Roos behind stage (like Thompson under Hird)
  10. I think the majority of teachers still don't know it exists
  11. That's great for school as well - just have to make sure your boss/teacher is not a die hard demon fan first
  12. A rather good article on potential coaches Biding their time: The next wave of senior coaches http://www.afl.com.au/news/2014-05-24/the-new-crop-of-senior-coaches Hopefully we can hold on to Rawlings
  13. Not if you have your wedding at the G I'm sure he can manage a couple snaps whilst lining up for goal or whilst propped up on someones shoulders ....Congrats
  14. Or instead go for one - a superstar (we don't have one...yet)
  15. Yes Trengove seems like a forgotten player to me - I had almost given up on him till he announced that he had been struggling with injury. I hope he can come back fitter, faster and stronger. The great thing about Roos is how he has shifted the pressure of certain individuals (draftees, Toump, Trenners) - Under Neeld these players would be straight in the side and under the microscope but as a supporter you almost forget about these players. We already have a good core midfield in Jones, Viney, Tyson, Vince - when you add on Tomp, Salem you have a decent midfield not to mention we might find some dimonds in the rough (Michie, Harmes, Hunt etc). Now we need to target a key backman (preferably a good kick) and possibly another good ruck prospect)
  16. Good time to assess our list and direction. Here is what Paul Roos thinks of the list and season so far: Part 1: http://www.melbournefc.com.au/video/2014-05-22/roos-mid-season-review-part-1 Part 2: http://www.melbournefc.com.au/video/2014-05-22/roos-mid-season-review-2-jetta-and-player-improvement I for one am very happy with the direction of the club and would never have thought we would have 3 wins at this point in the season (and against Carlton, Adelaide and Richmond). But this season is not just about wins - it is rebuilding the MFC from the ashes. I think we have already begun to see this through a shift in the culture at the club. I don't think you can underestimate the psychological effect in football. We can clearly see the defensive structures building and once we have a good grasp of that we can begin with the offensive side of the game. As far as the list goes - I think we have a good core group of players (Jones, Viney, Tyson, Vince, Frawley, McDonald, Dunn, Dawes + JKH, Salem, Toumpas etc) but our depth is weak and I expect that will be fixed come draft/trade time. I am looking forward to the rest of the season! How do others see: 1. the direction of the club 2. the current list
  17. Clark - retired Byrnes - has to go Nicho - has to go Strauss/Tappy/Blease - all in same boat (have to perform) McKenzie - could also be added The number of delistings will obviously depend on what there is to bring in. Strauss - I thought he would be the perfect player under Roos but he is make or break this year. He was playing very well don back at Casey then they moved him forward - guess there is some competion with small defenders but we could really use a good kick out of defense.
  18. Household Demon happened
  19. Not quite on the wagon yet,
  20. That's probably a main aspect - people waiting for results but I feel that it wasn't until last round (Tigers) that we showed genuine promise and direction. What are the people on the fence thinking - "Is it worth getting a membership halfway through the season when the majority of games to come are away games". Does anyone know if we offer half-year memberships cause this would really suit those supporters.
  21. I don't know if this has been mentioned but who does Jeff Kennett think he is? Kennett makes Eddie Mcguire and Warwick Capper seem reserved 'Stynes isn't worthy of an MCG statue'http://www.3aw.com.au/blogs/neil-mitchell-blog/stynes-isnt-worthy-of-an-mcg-statue/20140515-38adb.html "I think Tommy Hafey’s connect with society was a lot more profound than Jim Stynes as an example. I was disturbed by the decision-making process that led to Jim Stynes being recognised at the MCG." "I think Tommy Hafey deserves to be recognised... because he lived for community, he was community, he was a man without an ego, he had good values," Kennett said. Stynes wasnt a man of the community? Stynes had an ego? Jeff Kennett has probably never heard of Beyond Blue or the countless other community organisations that Stynes was involved with. He has taken a leaf straight out of Barret's handbook - he probably never even met Stynes What a [censored]! If he thinks Tom Hafey deserves a statue then very well but to go and say someone like Stynes did not deserve one is just plain ignorant.
  22. Lets just wait and see if he can get on the park again before making big calls.
  23. http://www.afl.com.au/video/2014-05-17/bernie-goes-bang-from-outside-50 Was anyone else left wondering how Bernies kick was a goal? Must have seen Tysons leg breaker and decided to go one better
