  1. You’re probably right with regards to injury opening the door for Pedo, I just feel Weideman’s year in terms of development v output needs to be managed.
  2. I think the Weed will be a player for us in the future but for where we are right now I think Pedo would have more of an impact when we come up against more hardened opposition. Crashing packs and creating contests is what happens when you’re not marking and converting the footy. Yes Weideman is competing, ( the contested marks against the Bombers/Saints were great) and he also has good 2nd efforts in his tackling. But for mine if he at times is struggling against weaker opposition the club needs to weigh up our opponent when selecting him, hence a balanced approach.
  3. I mentioned last week that Jeffy mat come in to give Spargo a rest.
  4. Whilst I understand what the club is doing with the Weed there’s needs a balanced approach. Currently playing 3 talks up forward gives us a lot of flexibility, so after the Carlton game Pedo should come in for the Weed. Against the Crows we can’t afford any passengers, there will be opportunities later in the year for him to get more games but as it stands he’s not in our best 22.
  5. Yes we could swap Weed for TMac but not for Hogan. I like what Hogan brings to the team but I don’t see him as the deepest forward, Hogan doesn’t take the big pack marks and his goal kicking lets him down at times. Using him in his current role is far more damaging. Getting to my original point by playing Weed as the deepest forward for the next two games (against weaker opposition) removes any confusion (at times 2 forwards going for the same mark) and let’s him focus solely on one role. He should be told regardless of goals/marks etc that is his role for rounds 8 & 9.
  6. When Jeffy is on he’s on and yes we are all aware of his down time. But we need to remember at some stage Spargo/Fritsch will need to be managed as not to burn them out.
  7. I’m not an expert but.... I’d like to see the Weed play out of the square and I think we should bring Jeffy back in and play him at his feet. Then have Hogan and TMac rotating between pushing up the ground and TMac swapping with Gawn in the ruck. I’d instruct our mids to try and hit him up on the lead rather than bomb in it to him. We know he can take a high mark but we shouldn’t be relying on it. The next weeks gives us the perfect opportunity to try this.
  8. So far we’ve beaten North currently in 7th, 4 wins Bombers in 15th, 2 wins Saints in 16th, 1 win and 1 draw Lions in 17th, 0 wins 6th - 11th are all on 16 points. All things considered I think we have quite a good draw, all teams cop interstate travel and so far this year Sydney, Adelaide, West Coast and Geelong have all copped home losses.
  9. Fair call, I hope that’s all it was and it’s discussed when they review the game. TMac makes all the difference doesn’t he, as I said in my earlier post for our next two games I’d like to see the Weed start out of the square and see if we can start hitting him up on the lead. We know he can take a pack mark and he is a reasonable shot on goal. Will also be interesting to see when the coaching panel decide to rest either Fritsch or Spargo. Although Jeffy has been down would love to see him at the feet of the Weed if the above scenario was to play out.
  10. Anyone....one day when it counts a missed shot like that could be the difference.
  11. A disappointing win for me. - Failed again to put a side away. - Tackling needs work for some of our players. - So many wasted entries inside 50 - We did however have a good spread of goalkickers again which is important. - Were any of our talls hit up on a lead inside 50? (I didn’t see the first qtr) - Our forward pressure was good when Saints tried to kick early out of their defensive 50, we were able to pick them off. When they unloaded a series of quick handballs they could navigate their way out quite easily. Then were able to move the ball quite easily at times. - Hogan or anyone who attempts a snap from a set shot from directly in front and misses should be dragged. - The Gawn mark on 50 then handball to Hibberd who sprays was disappointing. I liked the idea but we need to execute better. - Oscar and Lever continue to improve but on occasions (and yes this will happen) our defensive unit was caught out on the rebound. We won, obviously we’ll take it. We are such a better side for having TMac back in it. Spargo and Fritsch continue to impress. For the next two games would love to see the Weed playing out of the goal square the whole time with Jeffy at his feet. Watched 3/4 of the game on my phone in a hotel room, looking forward to getting home and watching the replay on the big screen.
  12. We are using the corridor a lot more which is good to see. Getting a lot of repeat entries into fwd 50 but still very wasteful, because it’s tge Saints we’re getting away with it.
  13. When playing Richmond.... Play man on man, make them accountable. When they take a mark inside fwd 50 they will always look to centre the ball to a teammate in a better position.
  14. For whatever reason I’ve watched a lot of Bulldogs games this year. The commentators at some point will reference their drop off since winning the flag. I know we joke it about but we can’t even put in a 4 qtr effort let alone string 3-4 consecutive games togethers of quality football.
  15. Once again it comes down to mindset, we need to put them away early.
  16. Don’t feel too bad, I had a small multi containing the bulldogs, I cashed it out losing a qtr of my initial wager fearing I could lose the lot.
  17. Bulldogs v Suns ??‍♂️, was the Bont rested thinking the game was already won?
  18. Not so sure about that, their back 6 go alright, so does Parker. With Buddy being out it makes them unpredictable. North are just a bit all over the shop.
  19. Anyone give North a chance against the Swans or am I thinking too much about this?
  20. Crushing wins should be a given, it what comes after that matters, a point that needs to be reinforced to the players. After round 3 some people were advertising the fact we were 3rd on the ladder and we all know what happened after that. Saints Etihad Suns Gabba Blues MCG Crows Traeger Park Dogs Etihad Pies MCG Bye Get to the bye undefeated and then maybe some trust will be regained. There is no more honourable losses for this club.
  21. Giants need to play Patton as a deep forward, he can mark and kick, they need a target down there. Have to back their mids in to win it.
  22. I think the game is at Traeger Park.
