  1. Different player. Have time to be an extraordinarily damaging which he doesn’t have now.
  2. If you go to the contracts thread you get a gist of where everyone is at. Players such as Melksham, Hibberd, Jones, Gawn, May, Tmac and Lever (although only 25) have either had or coming to the end of their payday. I’m guessing Ben Brown would be on good money without being extravagant, Oliver and Petracca are about to have theirs. I would not hesitate giving Oliver 3.2 million over 4 and Petracca 4 million over 4. I think there’s still plenty for Salem and Weid both who need to show more.
  3. Look at Richmond, you would have Martin, Cotchin, Riewoldt and Lynch then the rest, more than one model works.
  4. Clearly not everyone is in agreement with the side selected, really looking for similar intensity and pressure to that of the first two games. Anything less is unacceptable.
  5. Thanks for that mate, I’m a Sydney based Redlegs member. We (my fiancé and I) try and get down for 3-4 games a year, I normally buy her a guest pass. Having said that I’m watching the 9 morning show and I’m sure it just said that the MCG will be at 75% capacity shortly, hopefully when that happens guest passes and offered again.
  6. If the predicted crowd numbers are true, is anyone that has a premium membership aware if guest passes were available?
  7. $50 on tigers, lions, cats, port $50 on tigers, lions, cats, port, Dees, Eagles 8 x $5 multis taking the above 6 games plus pies v dogs hawks v bombers saints v giants All each way. Good luck to any fellow punters.
  8. Congratulations, exciting times ahead.
  9. With Viney to return in coming weeks I think Harmes may miss.
  10. I just read the first post on the link, if that’s how Freo line up and we lose Choco can coach from round two onwards
  11. When I get a minute I want to look at our starting 22 for the two losses against Freo and Sydney last season compared to our starting 22 for the Geelong and Hawthorn finals in 2018. May only joined us at the end of 2018, Lever missed through injury (from memory) Petracca only started dominating last season. In short our talent has improved but our culture hasn’t. Whats behind the Saints rapid rise? 2018 Saints 16th, Dee’s win 2 finals Ratten appointed Saints coach. 2019 Saints 14th, Dees 17th End of 2019 Saints trade in Hill, Howard, Ryder, Jones and Butler. 2020 Saints 6th win a final, Dees 9th Ive used the Saints as an example because they have managed to turn it around in two seasons. They have some talented players but I wouldn’t say they’re an overly skilled side. Ratten has brought a culture and gameplan that their players have seemingly bought into. I just looked at the Saints best 22 for this year, I personally think if both lists are fit, player for player we have the better list.
  12. In 2020 did we have enough skill to win the premiership? no we didn’t. But did we have enough skill to beat Freo and Sydney, yes we did. When the Hawks threepeated they came to play for the big games but on a few occasions when playing a weaker side they would get jumped early and even be down at qtr time only to get a spray from their coach, then their leaders would step up and they’d go on to win by over ten goals. We get jumped by a weaker side and go on to lose, our leaders went missing last year when everyone knew what needed to happen in order to play finals. We may have been bundled straight out but it still would have been a great experience for some of our players.
  13. Respectfully couldn’t disagree more Sue, case in point GWS.
  14. I would argue the Swans had a fair go of disproving that. They weren’t unskilled but they definitely weren’t the most talented either.
  15. So was it skill or culture for the back to back losses that ultimately cost us finals last year?
  16. When Geelong won three flags in five years there were lots of player interviews at the time where players talked about capping their potential earnings in order to keep the core group together, for some reason 500k comes to mind. I don’t remember reading/hearing anything about the Hawks. Richmond seems to have Riewoldt, Lynch, Cotchin and Dusty on big coin then daylight second. They also had Rance who reportedly signed a massive deal before walking away from the game. Both models work in terms of list management whilst in the mist of a dynasty. Do we honestly think Oliver and Petracca will sign four to five year deals for 500k when they are both worth so much more. After the contract to Brown, Viney, Gawn and Lever who do we you think is going to miss out? We need to remember that also coming out of contract this year is Jetta and Hibberd with TMac and Melksham in 2022. There’s a lot of money tied up in those four that is going to be freed up.
  17. I think this year we will see the best of Lever. We know he’s not a key defender so I’m not sure why you referenced that? We may have initially payed overs for him to get him here but I’d like to think his new contract is more modest. The role he plays has it’s place and if played right can be quite effective. Out of interest which key defenders across the league have elite disposal?
  18. Is that what the Richmond model looks like?
  19. Have tomorrow off so was already up and about then this, very excited and looking forward to Gawn dominating from round one.
