  1. What a strange season it is, I was thinking the same thing myself except for the part about Melbourne winning next week.
  2. McLean is third? Didn't expect that.
  3. If he could learn to break a tackle he'd be far better. For someone of his size and strength it's one area that he needs to improve on.
  4. At his peak he could have walked into any side but never received the notoriety that he deserved. Well done Wrecker.
  5. What worries me the most about McLean is just how slow he is. His running technique looks really awkward and I can only assume he is still injured because he was beaten on the lead a few times by the defender who started behind him.
  6. 6. Jetta 5. Jamar 4. Robertson 3. Sylvia 2. Davey 1. Bate EDIT: Unlucky: McDonald, Frawley and Valenti (his alleged poor kicking skills really are a Forumulated Opinion).
  7. If Bate is in the top 50 then Jurrah must be in the top ten.
  8. Agreed. People can't seem to get their heads around the fact that not all aboriginal players are the same and that their talents aren't there simply because they are aboriginal but because they are talented individuals.
  9. Liam Jurrah = Michael Jordan + Gary Ablett
  10. Robbo has provided us with more than his share of highlights and memorable moments and he will be missed. Well done Robbo.
  11. How many games will have Jurrah played by next season (assuming he plays the next two weeks)?
  12. You forgot Gerard Whateley, the best of the lot and one of the best callers of the game.
  13. I've seen it a lot and it was even mentioned in the "Valenti takes his chance" article.
  14. Another one: - Valenti will by a Sam Mitchell type player
  15. First of all most people on this thread have taken the whole thing way too seriously. Forumulated Opinion is a play on words, a bit of a joke and stems back to the "Ryan O'Keefe type player" who "bleeds red and blue" that was once blurted out in every second post. Unfortunately the subtlety has gone over the head of many such as HT and you Bob. The Valenti debate did inspire the thread as I am sick of the same lines of "Valenti is really slow" and "Valenti is a bad kick" being blurted out, without much substance to them as if the poster has just looked at what others have written and copied it because it has now somehow become fact. He isn't quick, and he isn't the best kick in the team, but some have made him out to be Godfrey II. Nasher's Brad Green example is a perfect case of this. I wasn't getting annoyed at all by the "no forward line structure" comment, but merely pointing out that it wasn't a Forumulated Opinion, mainly because others don't agree with it and thus don't repeat it.
  16. That opinion has come from watching games live, not from reading forums.
  17. And the reason they become gospel is because people keep blindly repeating them.
  18. Let me just clarify for those who have trouble understanding. Forumulated Opinions refers to those opinions that seem to just flow from what others read, without much substance or backing by the person giving the opinion. It doesn't just refer to opinions that you have that others don't agree with.
  19. That's it. Although I do agree with some of those points, however that is not the point.
  20. Don't hold back, add it to the list.
  21. Forumulated Opinions is a term I've come up with to describe opinions that posters come to based on what others have written. It often leads to a vicious cycle whereby these so-called opinions quickly become accepted as fact as more and more posters repeat them. Here are a few examples: - Valenti is really slow - Valenti is a bad kick - Melbourne need a Ryan O'Keefe type player - Melbourne need a player who bleeds red and blue Feel free to add your own. EDIT: Highlighted key point
