Watch for the AFL to dust off the Darwin deal and send us back there next year. It will be all stops out for the AFL, and with the poorer clubs cap-in-hand, we won't have a leg to stand on.

The clubs that are financially propped up (the most) by the AFL will surely be in the gun once the smoke clears. GWS Giants and G.C Suns are not self funding and never have been. Yeah yeah, every club takes money from the AFL but those two clubs take a much greater percentage than others, and could anyone see a date in the future when they wont need to be spoon fed by the League? I can't. On another note, let's see how serious the players are about the viability of the comp as opposed to their short term financial interests. Watch for the older players to make the most noise about getting the most they can at the expense of the clubs (Dangerfield, I'm looking at you), while the younger players with years ahead of them lean towards a longer term approach that supports a strengthening of the clubs. Would love to see the back room dealing and player vote when it comes to a re-negotiation of their contracts. Interesting times ahead.

If he is not playing at Freo I doubt he would be playing for us. Sadly the young man has problems. I hope it works out for him, because I genuinely fear for his future. Mystified that we cannot hit targets kicking inside 50, or why we spray easy shots on goal constantly. They are professional footballers for Christ sake yet kick like school kids once the sticks are in front of them. Infuriating.

How is it that a team like West Coast always look like they are kicking into a forward line with 4 people in it, while we seem to have 60 people inside the forward 50? The fact Weideman hasn't come on would be a huge concern to our coaches. We have been overlooking big forwards while recruiting tall backs. SURELY a power forward must be our next free agency target. If you are going to constantly bomb the ball from 70m out, you need a Tom Hawkins etc to knock defenders on their ahss. McDonald is incapable of doing that and cannot take a pack mark to save himself. And when your ability to lead into space is taken away, you have no tools. I'll bet they are now praying for Petty to become what Weideman was supposed to be Great thing that we are constantly winning the inside 50's, even against the best sides, but we still get smashed. Surely we lead the league for shots on goal INaccuracy. It's a bloody embarrassment.

Worst part of the 10 week break is that we have time to build up our hopes again. That allows the team to kill our hopes twice in one season.

No abuse there whatsoever sport. The AFL relies on a certain number of games being played for the T.V money that comes with it. I get your feelings are hurt over the Women not getting their final, but how would the public respond to coming back for 3 finals and nothing else? The mens comp has only had a single round, so it will actually feel like finals once the remainder of the season is played, whereas the Womens comp will be like the start of a new season. The entire code is in trouble here, and the obvious long term benefit of having a Womens comp does not help the AFL NOW. It in fact is an expense that they cannot afford. While I am a fan of AFLW and our girls........ Priorities.

I think the potential economic impacts of this Chinese virus are being grossly underrated on this site. I'm personally very worried about the poor bastards who rely on casual work to pay the bills, as they are the easiest to cast aside when things get quiet. I'm much more worried for the elderly who may very well die from the virus itself, of at least face hardship because they are too scared to leave the house because the infected hoards are ignoring the risk in order to play stacks-on at the local supermarket. As much as i dislike lefty politics, this is not a left v right thing. It's literally survival of the fittest. That breaks my heart.

The Bulldogs were scared of their own shadows tonight. The coaching team will have some horrific footage to sort through post game. Pies were ok. Grundy was a mountain, and others did some ok things but I wan't blown away by them either, as their opponent was abysmal.
