  1. I've always hated it when people build up a bloke who has never played a game for us, but Jesus, I hope you are right. Remember he has built himself up to match fitness before only to get injured again, but bloody hell his delivery skills would be a godsend for our ****ty inside 50's
  2. Play him. Agree with Dermie about a midfield rotation spot to test the calf rather than starting forward. That sniper rifle on his right foot will be solid gold for Tom McDonald and Jake Melksham.
  3. Agree with those 4. Flower had no right to be as brave as he was with a build like that. Injury probably stopped Schwarz and maybe even Jakovich being up for consideration. Amazing footballers early in their careers.
  4. @ding will burst a blood vessel when he reads that. Not the greatest fan of Coach G.
  5. 1 game only. Retired after the game. A raised middle finger to the radical Islamic fascists who took all of those innocent lives. Remember that time like it was yesterday. God bless the Nth Melbourne footy club for getting him back to a match fitness level that allowed a farewell game. Legend.
  6. Nice post. At least it puts reason behind the action. That's something that makes sense. Thanks.
  7. "late stage capitalism" lol
  8. I dont think they are ok drysdale. I hate the things, but my feelings mean bugger all. They are legal, and us selling them makes zero difference to the numbers which are simply taken up by someone else. If you still think us getting rid of them makes a difference then there is a problem getting thru to some people.
  9. I'd ban cigarettes AND poker machines mate. I cant stand either of them. But...... Our club getting rid of them will not make a jot of difference to the amount of machines the public can access. Therefore it's nothing but virtue signalling. We could have had a steady income stream but chose not to. Makes no sense to me.
  10. Actually, you have zero idea of what i know. I left my first wife because she had a pokie addiction which sent me broke. These things are LEGAL, and an AFL club having them will not change the public benefit or harm one iota. There are a set amount of licences that are sold, and anyone who thinks it makes a difference who holds the licence is beyond reasoning with. ANY move to divest from an AFL club is nothing more than virtue signalling, and I could not g.a.f about being the most virtuous club on death row. I just want the club to survive.
  11. Record low interest rates. Time to borrow some money and buy a swag of poker machines. Was a moronic virtue signal to get rid of them in the first place. But it made some "feelings", so there's that I guess.
  12. Are there 2 Weidemans on our list? Weed has regressed to double grabbing even uncontested marks and really needs to turn things around quickly. Finding a reasonable amount of the ball would be a great start.
  13. Wonder if that jumper Jones is wearing is some sort of clash strip? We are playing Carlton after all....
  14. I want to be excited, but I'm a little bit meh.
  15. My memory is that he was on the ground with his leg tangled with that Essendon Daniher filth, who wrenched his knee deliberately. Could not believe at the time he escaped a report. Would be piz funny if I was mistaken, but I can actually still recall the images.
  16. I just hope that whoever we keep is prepared to work their [censored] off, as there will be many gaps to fill. Would love to see the back of the touchy feely "coaches" but sadly in lockdown, I expect some of our precious petals to fall apart mentally. Mental strength has never been a strong suit at the Dees. Will watch with interest.
  17. Yeah, you'd have been far more insightful. Everyone is awesome Everyone is a star They are all great blokes.
  18. I'm so sorry that the youth of today never got to see this team play. Jesus Christ they were good. Adem Yze I owe you an apology. I always knew you were a champ, but bloody hell you had mad skills, and were much harder at the pill than I remembered. We had stars. Unfortunate that we came up against a team of thugs who would do "whatever it takes" to win a flag. Before I die I want to see us physically maul a side to win a flag.
  19. All teams need good people to help out when youngsters are brought into a club. Mother (and father?) Brayshaw certainly fit that bill. All of their boys seem like genuinely nice fellas, and that is a direct reflection on the parents. It is a very good thing that they have opened their doors to our new generation of players. Thank you Brayshaws....
  20. You'd miss his corporate quotes desperately Can't imagine a game without him lamenting our "connections going forward"
  21. I think we desperately overrate our players and always have. We don't have a single "elite" player on the list, and to even mention Pickett Fritsch and Petracca or even Jackson would make every AFL pundit laugh in embarrassment for us. When you have seen as many people touted as potential elites as we have only to see them fall short time after time, we really should avoid these type of conversations.
  22. Pretty much exactly what I was going to post. Of course a bloke will declare himself ready for a big footy contract. Nope, nope, nope, no way.
  23. Heartbreaking. Lets hope the Hibberd and deSliva families can have people nearby to support them at this horrible time.
  24. You normally come in here to grandstand, but I think this is a solid point that is worth thinking about for the players. I certainly agree about the "parasites" part.
  25. The people who signed up in March and April are legends. Well done people. Every member is solid gold for the survival of the club. (appreciate that many are losing their jobs and can't afford to continue) Very proud of our supporters.
