Was tongue in cheek
Lol, I wondered after I posted that if you were taking the [censored]
For what it's worth with the way the numbers look atm, I think they've got no chance of making the 35k either.

looks like we might reach our ambitious target of 30,000 by round 1 !!
over 29,000 now.
Wasn't it our ambitious plan to reach 35k by round 1?

at this stage i have no reason to believe the "pain-killer" story
may be true, may be not
athletes who get caught in testing always come up with a similar excuse
There is a lot still to play out in this story. At the moment we're just hearing Freo spin.

.Heard on SEN this morning the comment that he was suffering a back complaint for a fair bit of last season.
The spin doctors are hard at work OD.
-
Painkillers, sure whatever. Pure spin.

A heavy sentence will compromise our national game. The issue is bigger than one undeserving club. Everyone involved knows this. ASADA and WADA may bleat but a deal with the devil will be done. The script writers are already at work to fabricate the illusion of justice being served.
Haha, they've been at work for the past two years.

Here is an update on Club plans. Finals and other goals repeated. From Patrick Smith http://www.theaustralian.com.au/news/demons-plot-a-path-to-finals-footy-by-2016/story-e6frg6n6-1227260519589
My favourite part: "Jackson also confirmed he would head the club’s administration until at least the end of 2016 — tying in with senior coach Paul Roos’ tenure — and a year longer than he is contracted for."
This certainly puts to bed the faux story a month ago about Bartlett going after Brian Cook etc etc. PJ gives a bit more stability and confidence to the club for a few more years!
Couldn't be happier!!
This may be a silly question, but how do I read the article without subscribing or buying the fish and chip paper?

C Salem to sign contract extension for another 3 years. Should be announced before Friday.
Good get Ash!

What about Brayshaw?
Yep, did full session when I was there. Must admit though, he looks to be a while off being up to standard as he made a few errors, but may have been an off day.

All eyes possibly on Hogan , though id be content with a "good solid year" as opposed the heroic saviour scenario. Its actually Dawes im thinking might be due a really good season.
Great reporting btw..cheers
On the Hogan topic, there was a priceless moment at the end of one of the drills where Hoges happened to have the ball on the 50. Watts and the few of the boys started to get into him saying the sirens gone and we're 5 points down....
He nailed it easily!

The other thing from today which I thought was quite bizarre, I saw Saty on the sidelines on other side of the field taking photos then he walked off and hid behind a tree ...
Don't know and don't want to know what was going on there.

Here is my first ever training report....I only stayed for a hour so I'll just comment on what I saw and my opinion...
- It was windy so disposals by all were average at times, BUT yes the usual butchers were at it again.
- I love H's intensity.
- Gartlett, Frost and H are great pickups, we look more dangerous with them in our team.
- I know this may offend, but on what I've seen to date with Hogan he is not our superstar this year. He is just a kid still learning. He will bring a contest and another option up forward but will not star, for this year at least.
- Dawes looked good today, took clean marks and looks very fit.
- Someone may be able to clarify but it appeared Vince was involved in the sessions early, then went off to do his rehab training.
- It looked like Howe was in the golf cart for the whole time, I hope everything is ok.
- McCartney was running a few drills when squad split up into 3 and was providing great instructions and feedback. He'll be perfect for the development of the younger guys.

Hogan is training and looks fine.

I recall as a teenager my local club paid a king's ransom to recruit a former AFL-listed key forward who had routinely led the league in goal kicking, to be the key piece to push us into premiership favouritism.
In a marking contest at training during preseason I stepped on his foot in a rather innocuous fashion.
He missed a couple of games, which turned into a handful of games, which turned into a season and he never did anything of note on a footy field ever again.
The moral of the story? Make sure I don't step on your foot.
He'll be fine.
Or he won't.
Wow, you would have been popular at the club.

He didn't pull up sore - he was given a couple of days to stay behind and see family in Perth.
AFL site saying different. Someone stood on his foot and was sent for scans. Supposedly the scans were ok, Thanks Fluck!

Did anyone catch the alleged good news?
I heard Andy Maher on SEN mentioning the supposed 'good news' and to stay tuned, but unfortunately I wasn't near a radio for much longer after that.
-
Been told we have another extension, they didn't say who but expect an announcement within 2 days
SEN mentioned some good breaking news to come out shortly, stay tuned.

Can't wait, first training session ever and bringing the kids. Glad the club moved the start time to 12, it would have been too hard to get the kids to the normal 9:00.

It's funny you mention that though - prior to going back he had a pretty lacklustre year up forward, and for his development Roos saw fit to send him back and as the season progressed he got better and better. It's a courageous man to argue a decision Roos would make in a players development, but it would be pretty poor if that was the reason.
Unless Danger didn't want to come to us in the first place. The bloke is Geelong bound IMO. Plenty of ties to the area and they can probably just offer him enough coin to entice him over.
I agree that it was great for the team for him to be sent back as he couldn't get in the game when playing forward, and i don't think he'd argue the point with Roos either.
But, if a team approached him with the right $ amount and the promise of remaining up forward I think he'd want to take it.
-
I honestly believe a major factor in his decision will be whether we play him forward or back. I'm certainly no body language expert but I think he didn't enjoy playing down back last year.

Vandenberg is a unit. Felt like a real noob when he came on and I went, "uhh, who's the tall in 37?". Not sure if it was just the TV effect, but he looks big.
I tried to buy rpfc's softly softly approach, but he looked like he belonged out there to me.
That is so funny, because I did exactly the same thing.

Oh my God, how the eff does Matt Jones get a game. Every disposal a clanger & all his tackles were sloppy & poor. Turnover merchant to boot.
I really don't know. His only attribute is that he has great speed, but he cannot kick, tackle or dispose without a turnover.

Vandenburg a lock IMO, he is a big unit.
