  1. Your final line sums it up for me Jack - "start winning games". For the last several years we have been easybeats, a joke. FFS, I was once at a game where a Hawthorn supporter "felt sorry" for Melbourne. We must win games and regain credibility as a football club. We must be seen as a serious football club. For all that I hate Collingwood they have a swagger and street cred that at the moment we can only dream about. Win games, become arrogant bas tards!

I'm sick of being 'felt sorry for'. The can shove their sorrow where the sun doesn't shine, as we're a comin (I hope)!!

  2. AFL won't act decisively until ASADA win their case. It is wise for them to keep their powder dry, and let the EFC dig their own hole deeper (and deeper).

If/when the players get a year+ ban, plus further club sanctions, they will leave it to EFC to decide if they will field a team in 2015, if not, the AFL will act to rejig the fixture, and move on with the season, while the EFC appeals... and appeals... gets sued by players, etc.

Gill will be standing well clear when this hits the fan, and wisely too.

The AFL are doing everything in their power to ensure that the players get nothing more than a slap across their wrist

  3. its a movie worm, nothing more. if it makes you any happier it horrified me when I saw the movie.

Haha, I have to say I've never seen it. But growing up in the bush I know a number of locals who could fit comfortably in the movie :)

  4. Who knows if PJ wanted to extend beyond 2015. The only public comments I have read from him since he started indicated his view was he was going to be short term. I thought it was a relief we got him for this year. Maybe that was his choice and GB is looking at his successor. This would be a storm in a tea cup if that's the case and he's sounding out Cook because PJ doesn't want to stay long term. PJ has certainly talked about a succession plan for the CEO.

How dare you talk sense here....totally unnecessary :)

  5. Don't think there's much here guys. Queried a mate who's a board member today and he knew nothing of it. Hasn't led me astray in the past so take from that what you like.

I don't believe it has got any truth to it either. Especially given our mistakes of the past.

Out of curiosity, can you ask your mate if there was an offer to, or why PJ wouldn't sign on past this year?

  6. Wow this is a long preseason.

Welcome to Demonland where we have a bunch of supporters who have a great common interest in the MFC. But instead of this site having healthy debates and conversation about the club, we have these warriors attacking each other constantly. Most threads on this site start of well, but come page 2 they generally are derailed by the same posters every time. Even the people who go out of their way to go to training, post reports and even upload photos for everyone to share aren't spared the attacks.

Seriously people we are all adults, by now you know who's posts you do and do not like reading - for everyone's sanity, if you don't like reading what they have to say put them on ignore.

  7. Really gotta feel for the kid. With everything he has gone through, I hope he can get back to playing some good footy.

I know I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that he'll make it back and run out for us again.

  8. Something in the turn this thread has taken alongside your thumbnail suggested that maybe Vyvyan kicking his own head along the rail lines is an archetypal image of the current condition of the Melbourne supporter.

    (1:48 onwards)

Haha, great find and soooo funny.
  9. Getting better and better, it meant the supposedly poor kicks, you know the usual suspects the hair shirt wearing lemon suckers pick on here, Tommy Mc did not miss a target today, neither did Matt Jones, only one who badly fluffed a kick was Dean Terlich who got a real ear bashing from Nathan Jones for not taking the simple option, his next kick was down the throat

Just out of curiosity and it may be a silly question - but can you please explain your definition of a "hair shirt wearing lemon sucker" person looks like. I'm picturing a person wearing a shirt covered in hair sucking on lemons!

  10. The process now will be fairly much as predicted. Hird will be fired by the Dons almost immediately. He will sue them. The players will strike (what else can they do?) and the AFL will come to a negotiated settlement to allow their preseason tournament to continue and within the next month or so the 34 will hear their fate from the AFL Tribunal (will be nothing more than a wet lettuce penalty) and the players will be able to continue to play. What they don't seem to realise is that penalties eventually handed out by WADA are likely to be backdated to the time they last played, thereby forfeiting the advantage of the offseason.

I feel sorry for the players - they have been seriously mislead by Hird and Essendon, but their fate awaits them and it will be very ugly. The train has now left the station, the wreckage is coming!

FWIW Essendon has already sought counsel a while ago on Hird's threat of Contempt of court if he was to be sacked (around same time of Caro's article).

  11. He works very hard which is evident in his training and is a credit to him (and makes him stand out at training). I just don't see that hard work transitioning to damaging football.

I can understand your concerns, but give the kid some time.

Think about his first couple of years with his hip injury, appendicitis and our coaching stuff ups, it's no wonder he has not grown as an AFL player.

  12. I haven't been able to get to a training, but watching his recent interview on the club's website it looks like the Toump has put on some serious size.

I hope he can prove himself this year and show some of that class he had pre hip injury.

  13. This all started with getting Roos, getting the culture right and getting the players excited about the clubs future and direction....

    Take a bow Peter Jackson.

Having PJ is probably the best thing that has happened to the club in the last 20 years. IMO he should be on the banner.

  14. So in his 7th preseason Jack Watts finally gets an overuse injury. How nice. That will teach him for trying.

I have to admit I was suprised that he's already played 95 games as mentioned in the article.

I'm hoping he'll do a Dunn, play around 100 average games then turn it around and become one of our most important players.

  15. Thanks Clint, just a one liner like that posted will lead to two or three pages of Watts being out for the whole season, I explained to Dave Misson that it would be better to get the truth out first, gives me a quick rundown at each training I am at, which is really cool of him

Is that why we haven't seen the segment of Misso's report on the club website for a couple of weeks, they just figured to tell you instead?
