Oscar played well, and i have been a critic. Credit where credit is due. Best part was his decision making. Went for marks when they were appropriate. Went the spoil when appropriate. One of the highlights of the game was in the MFC package - where he made a spoil in a contested marking situation and it went straight down to the two mids who pounced and ran forwards together. Great to see.

Apologies to my man Bennell - I definitely noticed those ones too! I knew i left somebody out..

I noticed a marked increase in the amount of protection awarded to the ball carrier/designated player around the contests and in general play. This is an area of the game I’ve seen missing for some time, and I’m that guy you hear at the game regularly screaming out ‘Help your mate out FFS’ and ‘where’s the shepherd???’ when everybody handballs around in a circle to 1on1 contests. - That 1-2 seconds difference can make such a difference vs pure ChaosBall delivery up the ground. A few stood out once I started paying attention (Harmes, Hannan, Viney and Pickett). I really hope the review points these out and focuses on them - from memory the subsequent disposals were either short kicks to free targets who could then take their time and frame up the next move, or handballs to advantage that pushed us deeper into attack towards players that had managed to distance theirselves from their direct opponents.

Harley getting back to Senior AFL is a great football story and here’s some slime taking the moment away from him. We need these kind of good news stories right now.
