Delistings/trades at end of the season
Generation dee replied to Northern Summer's topic in Melbourne Demons
G Sorry for the typoday all. This is a very drunken message from bali. But I will tell you what I heard tonight. Ollie wines had his heart set on coming to Melbourne. Todd viney rang him 2 days our from the draft to tell him we were not going to pick him. Basically was told we wanted to pick him but we're not sure if we could let Toumpas slide. Ollie was gutted at the time amd for 18 months after. He won't leave port for anyone now as in his words it turned out for the best for him. I can not answer if it was Todd or neeld who said let him slide, my understanding is it was neeld as Todd called Ollie to tell him prior to the draft. The rumour out of port adelaide is they do not expect Hamish hartlett to play there in 2016. He didn't turn up for the footy trip, apparently we offered a huge deal amd if it isn't us, it is sydney. Ollie knows Jimmy Toumpas from underage level and he said Jimmy will be a seasoned afl player. As much as he initially hated not being picked by us, he understands that politics played there part, but I gathered that he won't leave port adelaide period. To.orrow the melbourne players arrive, Sorry for typo. I'm drunk. But that's all I can give for now -

As for my latest danger field news, have still got nothing. He is keeping it very close to his chest and I would say by the time I get back from Asia, he will already have announced his decision. -

In all honesty, how would you know what is going on? Because you don't pick the Herald sun up and see on the back page "Dees offer treloar 5mil"? Is that what you base it off? -

Should roos and Goodwin go and pick the elite top level talent off the elite top level talent growing tree that grows in the gardens at elite top level talent street, in elite top level talentville? -

Terrific post. You sure can pick them. Where were you last year to critique him after averaging 24 disposals, 11 brownlow votes and averaging 3.4 tackles a game? Muppet. -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHRISTIAN PETRACCA

100%. It would be interesting to hear just what offers the club actually recieved/asked on regards to pick 2 and 3. Had clubs known st kilda was to take McCartin would this have changed. I wonder how unfortunate the club would have been had the current F/S bidding system been in place for Chris Johnson, and what we would have given up. Young Stretch already has the exposed form at sanfl level that matches his work ethic and wiling Ness to improve to suggest he could play a lot of games for the club, but again, we've been burn by that hope too! -

Apologies, I meant it more as we have a face to the name, instead of pick 3. I'm not sure any melbourne supporter could possibly claim a draft pick a win after seasons gone by. I do agree with your point however, and the signs early of Dom Tyson do look encouraging. For his first real season to maintain such a high level most the way through the season was very impressive. If we could get half that input from Petra cc a and brayshaw this year, you would be very positive about the future. -

Would be interesting to see the link between those changing views of Frawley, against his output on field as the year progressed. As it stands, he left to chase his personal dreams of an afl premiership, we were handsomely rewarded and allowed us to take the player titled in this thread, along with Angus brayshaw. Now that we have seen footage of our compensation, it's fair to say this has turned into a win-win situation for club and player. I suspect this, along with the Dom Tyson trade, prove that in the current climate, there can be multiple winners arising from free agency/ trading and perhaps we all need to relax if we face with the same scenario again in seasons coming. Unless it's nathan Jones. A club can not afford to lose a player more so than Jones and Melbourne. However I don't see that being an issue. -
What? Dont you read the vfl review? Harmes had a 30 disposal game only a few weeks ago and has been tracking nicely in the muddy conditions in previous weeks. The club almost certainly got that pick right. Even if we picked templeton, chamces are he wohld be developing in the vfl in the same way as our guys are now. We arent in a situation like st kilda where we have to play first year players. We are in a position where we have reasonable depth but they needed to know how to play. Templeton wasnt the answer last year and i think harmes and hunt have been coming along nicely
-
I always think that about collingwood old dee! Just when you think they are stuffed, Dwyer or Elliot or josh Thomas play out of their skin, and Dane Swan has 67 disposals and Heath shaw blocks everything! Hate them but geez they run deep! Hopefully it's a draw and 85,000 go home frustrated!
-
Exactly right. I'd we wanted quick fix patch up, we would've traded 3,4 and 13 for Dawes, goldsack and Thomas, or something ridiculous like that. We have hogan to come, viney, grimes to return, trengove to get his body right.. Toumpas should be afforded time, patience and allowed to pick his game up naturally. He will be a very good player for Melbourne.
-
Wow. Lets pick on an 18yo in his first season who had a delayed preseason. Damn you jimmy toumpas for our 1-11 start to the season! It's all your fault! Seriously grow up. Ollie wines has had a pretty solid start to his career, but he is surrounded by boak, cassisi, wingard, kornes and Brett ebert. Toumpas has jones, daylight, Rodan, trengove, bail and Sylvia. Throw in first year players viney and Matt jones, as well as grimes being injured. How about we just take a step back and look at the good things he does. Kicks it beautifully, keeps his feet, runs to correct spots and leads. He has some incredible skills. Just give him the time to develop. He isn't a strong tackler yet, but again- 18yo and first 7 games. Add in that he is determined to improve and knows what he has to focus on, and you see the makings of a very good player. Just more of this saviour mentality from understandably frustrated supporters, however just have a deep breath.

What exactly, do you feel, is inaccurate of what mark neeld has said?
-
Several occasions? Used as a scapegoat? That anti-neeld vendetta blinding your judgement again old buddy? What about at the start of the preseason when neeld said jack had all the tools to be one of the most versatile players in the league akin to Brendan Goddard? How about in may last year when he said the previous administration set jack up to fail by claiming he was the poster boy of the future? And again when he said jack's standing as a number one pick didn't matter as he was now on a list, but jack showed all the tools to be a very successful afl player? You just keep posting your sickening propaganda, never with anything constructive, just the same vitriolic spiel.
-
Haha that's my point!

Come on mate. Most reliable? You dropped yesterday you vaguely remember the posting from last year. Most intelligent football experts picked moloney and rivers leaving, and no disrespect to them, they didn't provide the leadership required of experienced footballers.
-
This galah keeps posting the same incoherent jazz day in day out mate. Yesterday it was neelds fault that Stef Martin left for that reason. you remember stef martin, the dominating bigman on our list for several years? Tomorrow I'm thinking David Schwarz's knee injuries will also be neelds fault.
-
Your best mate player manager invite you to that meeting? Did you bring the cupcakes? You remind me of a galah my aunty and uncle used to have. Always saying the same thing over and over everywhere it went.

I think big max is putting his contract talks off due to missing a lot of footy and probably wanting to string some games together. The club aren't going to offer him a big contract on the back of 8 games that he has played, so him waiting til the end of the year is more about increasing his own worth- plenty of players at other clubs have done it recently- Andy Otten and Dave McKay at crows, max bailey at hawthorn among others. As far as jack watts is concerned, I don't think anyone on demonland wishes anything but a prosperous career for him. Obviously we all hope that's at the dees though. Neil Craig and mark neeld said last year the program they were going to put in place wouldn't be for everyone. I'm personally sitting on the fence here. I've always said he will turn into a hard working CHF in the mould of nick riewoldt or drew Petrie. Obviously that hasn't happened as yet.
