  1. we gave up a couple of later picks to move down to 10 to 7, so one would assume that they have a player or two they are after who is unlikely to be there at 10. hmm I truly hope they get their men.
  2. our football department will be crawling over video and reports for all of the top 20 looking for the players we want which may or may not reconcile to what everyone else thinks, They have done a pretty good job so far with not much to trade with so happy to sit back and enjoy. And we all know that whoever we do not take this year when we have a chance will be our next oli wines thread next year.
  3. the problem we faced with Howe was that he was uncontracted that left us no leverage over him at all. If he had been under contract we could have told him he was staying, that may have pushed up his price. the only threat we had was to send him to the psd which would have been cutting off our nose to spite our face. we got what we got, lets start to look forward to the inclusion of some harder and faster players.
  4. I think a couple more will go, we will be casting an eye over the delisted players and PSD to see if there are any little gems left, we know the bench mark that any such players need to met to surpass the 2 or 3 other unluckly players likely to go.
  5. hopefully by next year we will be a club that Prestia and others really want to come to, I am sure the FD can work out a deal somehow, maybe giving away late round picks etc again so they can get points to again go after academy players.
  6. Article on the MFC website said he played as a junior and did very well, but moved to basketball. Now wants back into football. Sounds like a great prospect as he obviously has played competitive sport. Has played football so knows the basic and is coming off an excellent base and has a great pedigree. I look forward to hearing more about his progress.
  7. fantastic story, hopefully he will have a long and fruitful career with the Dees.
  8. I thought he was on Hawthorns list but had real problems with injuries. They ditched him we recruited him, we ditched him they recruited him.
  9. Interesting we picked him up from the Hawks in the first place, so they have taken him back. They must see something in him.
  10. He is probably looking at himself in the mirror trying to remind himself of how good he is.
  11. I wont miss his awful kicks after a mark, looking forward to the pies fans seeing that too... How embarrassed must he be, passing himself off as a $600k player and settling for just over half that. All that coasting he did with us this year really helped to lower his value..
  12. Its almost a done deal, the club has extracted what it could so that it can get on with what ever deals it can still do, better than having this play out all week. Both Howe and Jimmy were not seen to be the type of players we want. Anyone coming in to replace them would not need to do a lot to beat their stats, admittedly howe would do an occasional great thing, but it was occasional and you could not rely on him. time to move on to the next deal, maybe we can throw the kitchen sink and the toilet seat at Treloar to try to push up his asking price and to [censored] Collingwood off.
  13. I think we have more chance of getting reasonable value from Collingwood for Howe as part of a mega deal as a multiple clubs will be involved and they all need to be satisfied or they all fall through.
  14. I wonder if the GWS and GCS's give any weight to who they are trading with, i.e. trading good players or early draft picks to top clubs just makes them stronger. As for the players being able to veto player trades we need to have a better system in place or some other compensating control to stop clubs being shafted. it looks like a points system is being used, so what about where we have two clubs looking at a player i.e. howe that you give an appropriate point weighting to the trade for instance if GCS is prepared to give up a 1st round pick that Collingwood would need to match that number of points, if they failed the player had the option to go to gold coast, or if the club chose to keep him under the same money he was prepared to accept, or stand out of football..
  15. lol then thoroughly disappoint your teams members by kicking it directly to the opposition for a goal. Melbourne offered what We thought he was worth not what his managers inflated opinion was of his value. I think the market has spoken loud and clear on his value, a few sides as usual prepared to pay overs to help their premiership hopes, otherwise his salary would be a bit less. He is going where his ego can get a good stroking from his loving coach, well that was the sales pitch anyway. It will be interested to see how he goes with Elliott and cloak, etc up forward or is it running around all day on the wing? I hope he also remembers there are a lot of Collingwood fans who will be mighty [censored] if he does not deliver and they are not afraid of telling him so every day of his Collingwood life.
  16. Collingwood could very well chuck in jesse white into a howe = white / kennedy deal, just so they can loosen their salary cap a little, and obviously offload deadweight in the cheapest possible way by having us pick up his contract. .
  17. you can only play hard ball if you are prepared to let him go into the draft. bluffing is not enough
  18. I think it has more to do with playing in prime time ón the big stage' so he can show off, his a show poney. only issue is will he make the team often enough to show off on the big stage. he will have a lot harder competition at Collingwood for a spot and they will not tolerate this laziness or turnovers they way we have.
  19. I think we should do a deal with the Suns swap picks as planned with no howe on the proviso that we let howe through to the psd. that is the theat to howe so that he could end up at carlton or the suns at less money since he has signed for less at Collingwood. lets then hope that carlton passes on him because of his price and the suns pick him up in the psd. The aim is to put some power back into the clubs hands because all of us bottom feeders are having players tell them where they want to go and use the psd and getting nothing for them if they go into the psd as the threat someone has to stand up, the suns and us can start to try to do that.
  20. I cannot see Howe looking to get the best deal for Melbourne, he has shown his loyalty is to the $$
  21. If we did hypothetically get pick 3 there is nothing to stop us trading that to GWS for a player and a later pick, the gws is after all pretty greedy in trying to bank as many early picks as they can.
  22. Howe can veto any deal, so hopefully the deal that's best for him is also the one that's best for the club.
  23. the more bidding for him the merrier. will only increase his value way beyond what he is truly worth.
  24. it could take a little while then for all the clubs to put in their best offer, the question is then whether howe will go there as some trades will be better for mfc others maybe better for howe.
  25. at least he realises that his next season will have a significant impact on his football future, a lot smarter than some of those who played for us this year.
