Bayley Fritsch cleared of striking
I'm certainly not the legal mind of some other demonlanders but think the case for this being reduced to a fine is strong. 1. the action was classified as reckless, it wasn't, he was clearly protecting his hand, 2. the North player while shocked at the time was fine, and able to continue 3. other players have done similar or worse actions and avoided suspension. so i think personally it's incidental contact due to protecting his hand, low impact and Fritsch with a good record over a few seasons should get away with a fine.

Do we lack midfield depth?
No way. our midfield depth is fine. taking into account injuries our likely midfield rotations for this week would be Oliver, Petracca, Jordan, Jones, Brayshaw, Langdon, Salem, Kozzie, and then the two rucks.

CHANGES: Rd 08 vs Sydney
The thing about Tmac on the wing that i really like is it will give him the capacity to run back and help the backline, which is something Gus has been doing, just Tmac would obviously be much more impactful in the air in that regard, and i'd say we're not losing a whole lot running wise, just potentially a bit of a dip in skills.

CHANGES: Rd 08 vs Sydney
I agree, if the ball is marked, or likely would have been and then an action consistent with a free kick (High contact) is committed then it should be instantly 50.

CHANGES: Rd 08 vs Sydney
This is a really interesting point and something i hope the umpires start calling. against Richmond Lynch and Reiwoldt were taking every opportunity to make Gawn "Earn it" when he dropped in the hole, with a deliberate punch to the head.

CHANGES: Rd 08 vs Sydney
The Swans also well and truely have the quality to match us in the middle. we need Gawn and Jackson to run Hickey off his feet. i'd almost favor Gawn working on getting back and helping the defence as much as possible rather than getting forward. Rampe is a good player but with Fritsch out i'm not sure we have a great match up for him, he probably doesn't have the height for Brown or McDonald, or the wheels for Kozzie.

CHANGES: Rd 08 vs Sydney
Given no Viney i'd be keen to see the inside midfield minutes split between Jones and Jordan (Nathan Jones staying in) and Brayshaw staying on the wing. with Fritsch out i'd probably err towards replacing him with a small, given we've already got McDonald, Jackson, Brown. so Chandler, Sparrow, Harmes or Bedford to play a forward role. for me the replacement for Tommlinson can only be Petty or Weideman, and the only way Weideman can come in, is if McDonald goes back.

CHANGES: Rd 08 vs Sydney
Completely agree, and if Brown isn't in the side i don't think Fritsch kicks six. it's the flow on impact that we will really see. Tom McDonald, Jackson, Fritsch and so on getting lesser match ups because teams are worried about Ben Brown. if he manages to kick a couple of goals and allows others to play well, brings it to ground he's had a good day. i don't recall him getting outmarked at all which is a good measure of a key forward in my opinion. In terms of the midfield, i think Gus is playing well on the wing, and wouldn't mind seeing James Jordan backed in with some more time in there due to Vineys absence. he's got a beautiful blend of inside and outside and a great work rate. really rate him

Jason Taylor
Getting way ahead of yourself. rapt to have Rivers at the Dees but Hayden Young is going to be an absolute jet.

AFL Mid Season Draft 2021
In terms of key backs i reckon we're okay. we've got Petty, and worst case Tommy mac. we could use another inside mid to add depth if JV's injury is worse than first thought, and Nathan Freeman has definite quality, former top 10 draft pick who's finally got his body right. could not only add depth now but potential upside long term. Maybe we could get on the phone to a recently retired key back and see if we could start them training right away, wonder if Harry Taylor or someone like that might wanna have one last crack at a flag?

POSTGAME: Rd 07 vs North Melbourne
Today or tomorrow, but as others have mentioned, ACL's can be diagnosed by some basic tests at the time fairly accurately, the moment a club says "suspected AFL" it'd be a miracle if it was something else.

VOTES: Rd 07 vs North Melbourne
6: Luke Jackson (thought he changed the game) 5. Steven May. 14 marks. kept us in the game 4. Bailey Fritsch 6 goals, got some lucky ones, his day. 3. Christian Salem, just doesn't waste a possession 2. Tom McDonald. was terrific when he went down back, helped turn the game 1. Kozzie Pickett. gun.

CHANGES: Rd 08 vs Sydney
I don't think this is what will happen but if it were up to me the changes would be OUT: Tommlinson, Baker iN: Harmes, Weideman. McDonald goes back. we maintain 3 key talls up forward. Brayshaw stays in Vineys role on the inside, Harmes out on the wing.

Does McDonald go back?
Happy to see Petty get a crack in that role. Think Tmac has been too good in that CHF role

POSTGAME: Rd 07 vs North Melbourne
i think this is one of our more significant wins in recent memory, mostly because it's a classic MFC game to drop. North were all over us, but one things we've done really well this year is not panic, and we finish games so strongly we can run over teams like this. Ben Brown looked a little bit rusty i thought, but he will get better, would have to think if Tmac is going to stay back now, that Weid comes and teams up with Brown and Jackson up forward

TEAMS: Rd 07 vs North Melbourne
I reckon they'd love to squeeze Sparrow in somewhere, but not sure where it'll be at this stage. he's one of a few that's probably too good for VFL but suffering under playing at the best side in the comp at the moment.

NON MFC: Rd 07 2021
Watching the Swans play tonight, i'm super confident we will beat them at the G. if we bring our pressure, their game plan won't hold up. it'll be a comfy win.

Why Oliver is More Dangerous Than You Think
He's an absolute jet. he's known for winning the ball and his quick hands but he's got serious wheels and he's a beautiful kick and overhead mark. he's a very complete player. the insane thing about Clarry and Trac is they're still 2-3 years off hitting their prime.

TEAMS: Rd 07 vs North Melbourne
Geez we've got 4-5 blokes who'd be starting for a lot of other sides who can't get near it at the moment. it's a great place to be.

NON MFC: Rd 07 2021
Genuinely think we're the best side in it so far this year. Port have been hot and cold. the Dogs looked good at stages but haven't been tested and their backline is a real weakness against better sides. and we've beaten Geelong and RIchmond.

TEAMS: Rd 07 vs North Melbourne
I personally would still have a fully fit James Harmes in the best 22 however as you state we're pretty close to best 22 at the moment. I'm not sure who he'd replace. i really rate the role James Jordan is playing and i think Harmes would have to be part of the midfield rotations to be in the team. I think Ben Brown is going to have to get back to his best to hold his spot, T'Mac is playing his role Beautifully as is Jackson. if Brown doesn't play well, i imagine Weid will take his spot very quickly.

Top of the Ladder?
Can't really see us losing to the Swans, Crows, Blues or North. so backing us to be 10-0 going into a game against the dogs, whom i also think we're better than. I know we shouldn't be getting ahead of ourselves but this does feel a bit more safe than past Melbourne sides
