Why Oliver is More Dangerous Than You Think
Ted Lasso replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
He's an absolute jet. he's known for winning the ball and his quick hands but he's got serious wheels and he's a beautiful kick and overhead mark. he's a very complete player. the insane thing about Clarry and Trac is they're still 2-3 years off hitting their prime. -
Geez we've got 4-5 blokes who'd be starting for a lot of other sides who can't get near it at the moment. it's a great place to be.
-
Genuinely think we're the best side in it so far this year. Port have been hot and cold. the Dogs looked good at stages but haven't been tested and their backline is a real weakness against better sides. and we've beaten Geelong and RIchmond.
-
I personally would still have a fully fit James Harmes in the best 22 however as you state we're pretty close to best 22 at the moment. I'm not sure who he'd replace. i really rate the role James Jordan is playing and i think Harmes would have to be part of the midfield rotations to be in the team. I think Ben Brown is going to have to get back to his best to hold his spot, T'Mac is playing his role Beautifully as is Jackson. if Brown doesn't play well, i imagine Weid will take his spot very quickly.
-
Can't really see us losing to the Swans, Crows, Blues or North. so backing us to be 10-0 going into a game against the dogs, whom i also think we're better than. I know we shouldn't be getting ahead of ourselves but this does feel a bit more safe than past Melbourne sides
-
Melksham is a goodwin favourite unfortunately.

Jonathan Brown to take Sam Weideman under his wing
Ted Lasso replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
It's such a hard position for the club, Weid is way too good to be in the 2's at the moment, but who do you drop? Jackson offers so much to our set up overall, Tmac has been really strong, so unelss someone changes position he's fighting Ben Brown for his spot. -
So true! couldn't stand him at Norf, now suddenly he seems like a great bloke and excited to see him run out!
-
Z.Merrett is a gun, and would obviously be handy but has huge interest from clubs, if he decided to leave just to get into the conversation we'd have to pay a huge price, and even then Essendon would match (99% sure he's a RFA) and then we'd have to give up a huge amount to get the deal done. if we could pull it off, amazing but this to me screams of stay, or goes to Carlton who try to get him into the PSD as they do with any team that doesn't accept a lowball over.

Quality player. i'd definitely have a good look at it if he was keen. there is no doubt in my mind he'd improve our team.
-
Jones potentially being rested given it's an easier game on paper or us? my guess would be Brown and Harmes if the club thinks he's a walk up start.
-
After years of North beating up on us, it'll be pretty satisfying to give them a pretty big touch up this weeknd. hoping or a 70 plus point win.
-
I'm definitely in the no change camp again, although i understand the temptation to swap Brown and Melksham. T'Mac and Jackson are playing too well, so the only way that Brown or weid get a go is if we significantly alter the game plan that has got us to 6-0 including beating both of last years grand finalists.
-
I'm just a bit worried about Team Balance tbh dazzle, i think our success is coming off the back of forward pressure. i don't think Brown can come in unless a tall goes out. I don't mind Harmes having to earn his spot, just finding it hard to see changes that would actually improve us, other than to say Melksham was ordinary last night
-
Another thing i'd like to note regarding this, our conversion inside 50 has drastically improved, Spargo is a huge part of that. outside Salem i'd say he's the best decision maker at the club, and his passing over 30 meters is elite
-
Only change i'd consider is if Harmes is passed fit to play, i'd swap him for Melksham
-
The idea that this group won't lift for Nathan Jones is insane imo. we're going to smash in, particularly early, imo the game is going to be decided by if our system kicking inside 50 is good enough to create as many shots as we have been having, against the best defensive system in the last 4 years.
-
I reckon we could use another ruckman to be honest, so one of those spots i'd be having a look at some ruck depth. Wouldn't mind GA jr slotting into the side to help our run into finals, won't happen but would be good to watch.

Thrilled with the selections. past MFC teams would have made wholesale changes, jumped on bringing the big guns in and upset the balance. we've opted for 2 genuine upgrades and bought in 2 absolute guns. bring on the Tigers. they'll be bloody hard to beat on the big stage, but i think we're a bloody good side this year, so game on. as other have mentioned. so happy for T'Mac. he's playing his role perfectly and i can't help but feel like a bag is coming. he's getting his hands to a lot and just not quite clunking them, but i reckon it's coming. same with Jackson.
-
I personally think we've won the first 5 rounds without really digging deep or getting out of first gear. if we can play somewhere near our best against the Tigers it should be a cracking game. Honestly just want to see us take it right up to them, even if we lose we have a chance to prove to ourselves we can amtch it with teams like this.

Quality re-signing, one of our most important players. tremendous show of faith in the club to sign up for 5 years given the last couple of seasons.
-
I wouldn't be so sure of that... but we will find out later in the week ;)
-
Not based on what Simon Goodwin said, he might not play, but if he's fit he walks straight back in.
-
My best guess would be. OUT: Petty, Neal-Bullen, Brown IN: May, Weideman, Fritsch Fritsch is too good to miss if fit, but hard to know who he replaces, it's Neal-Bullen, Melksham or Spargo for me, i'd say Spargo has been the best of the three, and Melksham is Goodys best mate and will get looked after

Carlton are going to seriously regret signing Williams and Saad to such big money. it's going to come back and bite them bigtime. they're no better than they were last year, just without the warchest.
