Roos is making an example of Salem to show how young players should be developed, i'd be surprised if Kelly wasn't being treated the same, not because it's right or wrong but to change the way the club views young talent
-
Dunn, Garland and Jones could all do it, Grimes needs to worry about being a good players first.
-
I still think Dom Tyson is as impressive as Kelly, he is an inside player with great run and outside skills, just what we needed, and alot of good judges rate Salem just as highly as Kelly anyway, we need to wait until Chrisitan fires a shot but i reckon over the next 10 years both sides will feel they won this trade.
-
Carlton are going to come hard today, they know what a loss to us will mean for them, but i seriously think we can win
-
the thing for me that's different about him is with Boyd and Hogan they threw kids around like rag dolls with their massive frames, this kid has another dimension to his game, he is quick on a lead, a good set shot he doesn't rely on his contested marking, reminds me alot of Nick Rewoldt in that way, and he is also a very capable young ruckman

Match Preview and Team Selection - Round 4

That's pretty shocking isn't it, simply we become more effective inside the forward 50 and we are suddenly capable of matching most sides -
Match Preview and Team Selection - Round 4

i'm tipping Billings to get this week against Adelaide -
Nah that's fine, i get your point, it's very much needs based, but i get the idea our list is so far sub standard it's scary.
-
the original question was who on our list would get a game in a top 4 side, in my opinion he would.
-
on the other hand he's admitted he's enjoying coaching, has Roosy in his ear every week, who couldn't use the pay packet we'd offer him.. optimistic?
-
I get he has played no games Jazza, but freo desperate for a second forward target would play him if he was on their list, as would Hawthorn as a second tall forward behind Roughead.
-
Trengove and Scully were the obvious choices at 1 and 2 that year, just because we lost one and the other hasn't developed is totally irrelevant, we can't time travel forward and then go back and make a different call because Martin is probably the best of the three Fyfe is the best player from his draft and he was pick 20 or something.
-
I reckon Trengove moving on is the best thing for all parties, i can't see us getting much more out of him
-
But that's not what your point was, you said we have less than 2 players on our list that would get a game at a top side, a fully fit clark would get a game at Hawthorn or Fremantle, as would Hogan as would Howe, if he was the third or fourth forward in a side he'd be very dangerous. but okay take Clark out and put Vince in, on current form, well besides last week but the rest of the season to date he's been very good
-
It's abit like Boyd last year, if GWS had only pick 1 they wouldn't have bothered with anyone else, he was the obvious choice, Scully and Trengove were that for us, it's a shame they aren't doing brilliantly but at the time it was the obvious choice
-
That's not what i said at all, but i reckon we nearly have that as it is and it doesn't get us far, Jones, Garland, Frawley, Clark, Howe, and Hogan i reckon would all get a run at any other club. Gold coast have been team Gary ablett for a while, now Swallow, Martin, Prestia, O'meara and co have developed watching first hand one of the greats of the games training habbits, picking their brain and so on, that's what we haven't had probably for the best part of 10 years, a genuine superstar
-
I'm not really interested in the AFL ratings of players, i reckon we have 10-12 AFL standard players and a few strong VFL performers who plug gaps, not surprising we go how we do, Roos will have a massive cleanout at the end of the year and get some better types in

Port Adelaide passes 50,000 members

an absolute genius leading their fitness department has helped, but their development of guys like Wingard and Wines to get them as good as they are so quickly is what's the most impressive. -
Very true, probably unfair to compare Ablett to any of the current players, which is scary in itself, personally think he is going to go down as the best player of all time by the time he retires, maybe 3-4 brownlows, 350-400 games, few premierships really puts our side into perspective when you consider our better players over the last 10 years would be stretching to be a quarter of as good as the bloke.
-
Where can i get myself a terrible investment like that? and 400k to invest in the first place would also be helpful

Match Preview and Team Selection - Round 4
Ted Lasso replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
To be totally honest i don't reckon it would be that surprising, Carlton have been very average and i reckon they are stupid if they aren't very nervous about this game -
We need a genuine superstar, Cross and jones are good but we need a gary ablett type player like other sides have that the young players can watch train and pick up what's required to become a genuine quality AFL player.
-
i have nothing but respect for Kevin but still feel it's hard to predict what young players are going to do, i have heard alot of different people rate Salem as neck in neck with Kelly as the best mid in the draft, and we got Dom Tyson as well so i don't think either side is going to be too worried about that deal. He's spot on about Carlton, they have had 2 cracks at the draft under Malthouse and not recruited one key position player despite that being the huge hole in their side.

Ted Lasso replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
If we beat Carlton Mick Malthouse could kill one of the journo's in the presser I reckon we are in with a chance, we need to get back to the sorta footy we played in the NAB cup against Richmond and Geelong -

if players were drafted based on the team they support the Dees would be a bloody good side, Franklin, judd, Gaff, Prestia, Mayes,
