Slowly getting over the devastation of missing the finals by a whisker. I want to give a shout out to Jake Melksham, who was magnificent for the Dees , especially once Goody moved him to a new role half way through the season. He kicked at least one goal in his last 12 matches, a streak he will take into next season. He kicked 21 goals from the last 12 games. He kicked some clutch goals at crucial stages. He makes it look easy kicking goals from outside 50. A powerful kick of the footy. And while the goals were raining down, he was also shutting down his direct opponent more often than not. There was a lot of angst when we gave up a 2nd rounder for him , especially after he was rubbed out for a season, but he showed he was worth it. If he can continue to excel in his new role it will be huge for the team .

I have no idea how old he is but I've never been more excited about a potential Demon. Its the Wizs son for christs sake, and his name is Kobe. He's destined for greatness. ps. Anyone know how old he is and what club hes playing for?

First thing I thought too when Frosty re-signed. Now perhaps theres no correlation, but youd think that if something was cooking with Lever we would leave Frost as a trade option at trade week. Hes not moving now. The thick plottens.

Another thing I love about Lever is that he has all the tools to be a superstar key forward. With Hogan there and Weid coming through, that may never eventuate though at least not permanently.

A hypotheical - If Jake has already committed to us verbally behind the scenes, can he change his mind? Is anything legally binding if no contract has been signed?

The Draft and Trading board is going to be great this year. Great players possibly on the move (Lever, Kelly), we are a destination club finally and we own our 1st rounder unlike last season. But whats even greater is that it isnt open yet! And hopefully isnt until our last game is finished (ie. the Grand Final)

Jake Melksham showed his worth, tightening his control on Dayne Zorko after the Lion was prolific in the opening term. Zorko finished with 26 disposals and a goal but his influence was limited after the first change, while Melksham had an impact himself as he picked up 29 disposals, a goal and 472m gained.
