Even worse is tonight's game...Adelaide v Saints when every football follower bar a few Saints supporters wants to watch the big game between GWS and Sydney

Even the Saints were with them goal for goal for a half. North are putrid. Sad indictment of the coaching staff that we lost to them twice last year.

No change would be a strange coaching move but it would not surprise me. Goodwin has never been one to pick a side for the conditions/ opposition so why start now?

You are right of course Deanox and it will soon become obvious that sports betting is the same. No longer is it the days of the walk down to the TAB for a few dollars or the occasional visit to the track for a Saturday afternoon flutter. It is a sophisticated 24 hour a day addiction pumped to vulnerable people by means of their umbilical cord otherwise known as their smartphone. Ask yourself why have football betting when there is plenty of racing to bet on. The answer is that it is another market ie. young people who think that it is easy money. I don't object to race betting. It is an industry that has been around for a few hundred years and is here to stay. It is the insidious proliferation of sports betting into all other sports that worries me. O by the way do you think the Diamonds are a good bet in the Netball this Commonwealth games? Lots of good points but lets remember Tom Mc is possibly out for the next 6 rounds. If Pederson is in he needs to kick 2-3 goals if we are to win those matches. The Weid is the "possible" future. If not round 4 it will be round 5. It is simply a competition between the two. Or is the lesser of two evils at present. Unfortunately Weid showed little last year (one half against Hawthorn at Box Hill... I was there) but against Coburg for example last year he was woeful. Will watch them both closely this weekend as I am sure will the selection brains trust.

Pederson is not exactly setting the world on fire. Goodwin sees Weideman as important (look at last year). In normal circs I would agree that he needs to show some more but the absence of Tom Mac is the perfect opening for Weid IF he puts in solidly this week. Mind you the Weid was not exactly on fire last year in the VFL so it remains a big "IF."

In the absence of Tom McDonald I think both Weideman and Pederson are this weekend playing for a spot in the seniors for rounds 4-6 . Weideman plays for Casey against Coburg. If he kicks 2 or more goals and does a decent job as relief ruck he will be in the running for round 4. Against that if Pederson does the same or better in the seniors he will keep his spot. The only reservation I have is that Coburg are an unaligned side who finished 13th last year with only Nth Ballarat below them. Will be very interesting to see if either seizes the moment.

not comparing the players ability but rather the coaching approach in each instance OD. Goody is a stubborn beast sometimes. Last season most of us could see that the Weid experiment was not working and it may well be that the Lever experiment isn't working either. Logic suggests to me that you settle him in with what he is comfortable at (especially given the importance of a good start to the season ) and then experiment as the year goes on. O well the coach is paid the money and as long as he bears the consequences I don't mind. Just not sure I could stand another 2017
