  1. the venom that some supporters have for players who leave their clubs astounds me. Many here still begrudge Scully any form of success. Time to move on.
  2. wow ... sounds like old style football which we are continually told does not work anymore. The usual reason is that it leaves you one man down in the defensive press.
  3. With this quick turnaround and extended squads plus players being "dropped" at Casey I have lost track of the injuries. Is there an official updated list since the April 10/11 posted above. Thanks
  4. so with Flip and King out who is the ruck? Could this be a new game plan?

  6. they were discussing that on SEN today. The suggestion by KB and co was that Clarkson had pressured the umps into rewarding the tackler. Has gone way too far in their mind and watching tonight they are so right
  7. will be interesting to see if he plays tomorrow night at Casey (short rest) as the following weekend is a bye for Casey
  8. Pies and kangas being talked up for the weekend ......... what fun
  9. yep... what a fizzer ... talk about calling a presser for a no news event
  10. I suppose it was that they were hopeless most of the Anzac day game against a mid level at best team while we only sucked for around half a game against the premiers. I admit it's a hard choice but you have to find some positives in what at present is a dismal MFC world.
  11. not quite that bad Chook this is an old thread and I believe Tom is still right to go this weekend and Jack V in a couple of weeks.
  12. makes sense but channel 7 would have to forego its much vaunted news service (haven't watched TV news myself for the last ten years unless there is something absolutely breaking and if so it's one of the continuous news stations)
  13. there was a year that was after daylight saving had kicked in.... made for a real early start in the West
  14. but if so why not go the full hog and do a night game...
  15. Will be an interesting tussle. Both teams will have a lot of fresh faces which does not always bode well from a performance viewpoint. Neither team is playing well but you can mount an argument that Melbourne is not playing as badly as Essendon. Whoever loses can almost write off their season ( yes... mathematically possible but would take a big turnaround). Between the coaches I will leave it to readers to guess who will have the edge tactics wise. Of course while a loss will be devastating a win will only provide a small filip to the winner. Go Dees ... never felt so flat before a game
  16. Gil is announcing at 5:10pm the result of the discussion around a new start time for the GF. My guess is 4:10 pm allows for game and celebration before 7:30 pm news Half time "fiasco" then in the dark around 5:45pm Any other guesses?
  17. NFL

Boy.... 4 odd hours and they only managed the first round .. sounds worse than the Brownlow count ! Was watching a newspaper live update... it seems that a lot of clubs know exactly who they are going to pick but drag it out so they can get a free plug for their club. As if the Browns really needed to think about who they would take as the first pick. O well can't blame em for a little theatre... the boys at AFL house are I am sure taking close notes.
  18. so true but even worse as some have gone backwards. That's what makes so mad about Petracca missing ... time for him to take on a game and really star. Cameos are fine but he needs to influence a whole game. Hogan is the bright star of a pretty dismal start. Sure it has impacted our scoring but at CHF he is a potential elite of the game.
  19. IIRC kicked around 1:5 against us last year. Game would have been over at half time if he had kicked straight.
  20. Any reasons for the outs KC ?
  21. If it was treated... fine ... say so... otherwise the football public and the media is just left looking at another unprofessional example of a struggling football club. "Perception always shapes reality"
  22. Naming Tom Mac on the extended bench smacks of mind games. Good luck but I hope it works out .. with our luck who knows

Just thought I would get in early on the big one tomorrow night. That's right Carlton on the national prime time stage playing the Dogs.. (at least the Bulldogs deserve the spot.) Bulldogs by 65... Tom Boyd to have a rare great game with appropriate commentary from Bruce.
  24. I believe you are suggesting he played at a less than optimum level... something shared by a number of players who are still included in the team was the gist of my post.
  25. seven ins just blows my mind ... sorry will have to wait until they pare the side down tomorrow. Stretch was definitely unlucky by comparison to many of those left in the side. Good luck to Spargo. He does have good ball sense.
