Changes vs Bulldogs
Casey play Williamstown at Williamstown next week. Hibberd played his first game for us at Casey in the opening round against Williamstown last year along with Weideman and Pedersen.

Heart of the Country Game
Was surprised to hear that the ground capacity is as low as 7,000. Not sure it's a long term proposition at such a small ground.

Changes vs Bulldogs
Almost impossible to make a case for a change .... NO Change. Weid and Pedersen back to Williamstown.. almost deja vu save that instead of Hibberd they will have Hunt off the backline. Next week should be a regulation win if we are the team we wish to become.

The 20 metre zone.. GOAL
Went to watch Casey yesterday play Port. One of the things that struck me was that whereas in the past a player would look to kick a goal around the 45 metre mark yesterday the Casey players would look for the handball/kick to a player closer in. Was thinking of making a post last night. To a large extent it didn't work for Casey. ( In fact I criticised Oskar Baker for not backing himself from around the 40 metre mark.) Imagine the surprise when the 7 commentators in the Alice mentioned the accuracy of the Dees and Daisy chimes in to the affect that they were passing off so the kicks were within 20 metres of goal. In a period of AFL football that includes remarkable inaccuracy I think this is a very important part of our game plan

North beating Freo in the west... perhaps it is time I gave them some more respect.

GAMEDAY - Round 10
Simple humidity readings can be misleading. It is a measure of what water content the air will hold at various temperatures. For example in Melbourne at the moment the reading is almost 60%. Being inland the relative winter humidity of Alice would be low We had this discussion last year and yes SWYL it feels a lot more humid where you are. We'll talk about it beofre the Darwin game I am sure

Priority draft picks
The Richmond President mentioned on radio yesterday (3AW) that on some studies it may well be 2032 before the expansion clubs turn a profit. She went on to say that this was significantly later than had first been projected. Queensland is a very difficult market. The Bears/Lions have been there for 30 years.. won three premierships and are still showing a loss. Attendance yesterday 18,000.

Round 10 Non MFC games
Not having much luck in favoured MFC outcomes this weekend... Go Weagles on the assumption we can give them top spot and aim for 2 or 3 ourselves by season's end !! Not sure who to support in the Freo v North battle... tending towards Freo

Port Melbourne v Casey Demons - Round 8
started the season on fire against Coburg.... then a week or two later had a three week absence from VFL. Last few games have been solid ... in top 10... but not at eye catching level. If there was an injury to the extended midfield along with Tyson he would be definitely considered. The place he would be trying to take would be that of Hannan or the like. Certainly at present an excellent depth player and will definitely be offered a contract extension at some point this year. He may of course elect to try for a senior game at another club next year which is a problem we face with two or three of our "depth players">

Port Melbourne v Casey Demons - Round 8
Fritsch was relatively well known after his great year at Casey. He was considered a certainty for a third round pick at the latest. The question was would he last until that time or go in the second round. MFC took the decision not to risk waiting and took him mid second round. Of course being at Casey the club had inside knowledge on his strengths and weaknesses which helped them relative to other clubs to make a decision. If the draft was held today I expect he would go about 4-6 picks higher.. ie early second round.

Round 10 Non MFC games
Not quite on topic but how would you feel if you were one of these Liverpool supporters: "Liverpool fans whose flights to watch their side in the Champions League final in Ukraine were cancelled face bitter disappointment after the city’s mayor said he had been unable to resolve the “utter shambles” in time. More than 700 supporters face missing the game after two operators cancelled a total of three flights to Kiev because landing slots could not be allocated for them." https://www.theguardian.com/football/2018/may/25/liverpool-refund-champions-league-final-tickets-fans-cancelled-flights

I thought Frost played a decent game although I did not like him interacting with the Port supporters... some are not quite your most polite supporters.

Port Melbourne v Casey Demons - Round 8
must confess to the same problem (apologies to Drunk'n) but I am getting to know the Casey numbers a little better these days. Definitely some very strong marks to Declan in defence and a good goal in that last quarter. Good to see Weideman at the ground ... wonder where he will be playing next week? Williamstown by the bay next week ....Willy lost today to Geelong but are sixth on the VFL ladder with Casey third. Just noticed some stats on the Casey site for today's game: FT - CASEY WIN!! Strong game for the boys running out the better by 15 points #PJVFL Casey 15.8 98 - @PortMelbourneFC 10.23 83 Stats Stretch 29, C Wagner 28, Tyson 27, JKH 24 Goals Balic 3, Bugg 2, Tyson 2, JKH 2, Garlett 1, Keilty 1, Munro 1, Quigley 1, Smith 1, C Wagner 1
