Not opposed to Petty being tried in the F50 as I also think we are lacking contested marking in the forward half with TMac missing and the Dogs are weak in the back six IMO. The flipside to that is they now how Naughton, Bruce and JUH in the F50 so we may need to keep Petty back this week Tomlinson played well so not easy for the selectors not to reward his efforts - personally I would prefer him taking the kick outs over May. He generally does that role well at Casey - how that translates to AFL level is anyone's guess though

On this sort of analysis you'd have to say Jack Ginnivan is a champ (JG vs KP) - averages per game in career kicks 7.8 v 6.9 marks 3.2 v 2.1 goals 1.8 v 1.3 I don't think anyone here would do a swap for Ginnivan btw

On recent form that would be a major switch I have a bad feeling about them and what the next game against them may mean fir our top 4 chances - hopefully I’m way off

I don’t think that is fair - he is a pretty talented footballer and has played very very well in many games for Casey Laurie is a different type of small - not as quick but extremely hard to move off the ball and has an excellent football brain which allows him to usually make the right decision in terms of disposal and then generally executes extremely well The knock on him so far from my perspective has been not getting enough of it and questions over his ability to cover enough ground and at sufficient speed to perform at AFL level. His most recent game against Geelong was probably his best to date but I’m still not 100% convinced he is fit enough. He is an interesting one because I sense he could be the type of player that thrives with better players around him in which case he would possibly perform better than most of promoted

I think that was JVRs best game to date - progressing quite nicely Is it time to promote him - I’m still not convinced - this game against Port is an absolute must win so if the selectors think including him represents our very best team and chance to win the game I guess that’s good

Interesting Casey don’t use the May approach

I assume player managers don’t care much about anything other than their hip pocket - I’m sure they get a % of whatever deal is struck and if there is more in it for them to get their cattle to seperate ranches that’s probably what they will promote - these guys sharing the same parasite is not helpful

Tend to agree and please correct me if I’m wrong but to date Luke has not said a single word that would suggest he is staying or going The media are always looking to sensationalise any story even when sometimes none exists Im sure Freo and WC are revving them up at all opportunities hoping that it builds pressure on Luke to think it’s his best option Either way I believe it’s now probably come time to make a decision - for both sides that seems like the sensible way forward - the frenzy around this issue will only escalate and become a bigger distraction

My personal view is that May is actually not that great at hitting a target - his disposal by foot is unpredictable and recently this has resulted in not only turnovers but opposition goals Personally prefer to see Salem take the kick outs and try to hit a target occasionally rather than just the blind bomb towards the left hand wing

If it was a strong case why only "potentially ready" ? Anyway, happy to have a different view that's ok - I think we both would love to see him play very well tonight and give the selectors plenty to think about

For Jackson? - he was comprehensively beaten by Stanley and looked like a man with one foot out the door JVR is not ready if you ask me and I've watched a lot of Casey this year Hunt/Rivers seem to both be serving time at Casey for poor disposal or not playing their role - haven't seem much recently to warrant a recall Laurie is a clever footballer and has quite good skills but doesn't get enough possessions at VFL for the role he plays imo - he is also quite slow so that is going to be a real challenge when/if he steps up to the faster pace at senior level Outs: Spargo is usually dependable to use possessions to our advantage - going nowhere If Oliver is injured he may need to sit out but didn't seem too fussed walking around after the game Hibberb was one a our few decent players last night - he is very safe Bowey has been a bit disappointing but the reasons he has been disappointing are probably the same reasons Hunt and Rivers are at Casey so is a change here any upgrade ?
