Keep in mind, for all our bad seasons we have had some success. We have played in Grand Finals twice in the last 20 years or so and obviously had some successful seasons surrounding those appearances where we played in finals series and had some good wins. And even though many would say otherwise we have had some superstars, Jimmy for one. For some people, that's all it takes to catch their eye. As for me, my family are longtime supporters of this club, so there was no other choice. The MFC is part of my identity.

I said something very similar to this to a friend. All other clubs can wither and die for the greater glory of the Melbourne Football Club. Well... I was a lot younger then and said a lot of things. He still quotes it back to me every now and then.

As long he isn't handing out advice to players on their personal lives and sticks to football related matters... Could be of benefit to us. It will be interesting to see the opinion on here as to whether he has solved his issues.

I was on the train home from the Boxing Day Test this year with a bunch of teen boys. Most were wearing KFC buckets on their heads and Australian flags draped over their shoulders. (I'm sure you can see where this is going already) To entertain themselves they sang a series of call and response ditties referring to how they like to treat ladies. eg: http://theblokeyshed.com/forums/showthread.php?4089-I-wish-that-all-the-ladies&p=61669#post61669 This went on continously for about 30-40 minutes of the train ride despite a few of us older heads telling them to put a lid on it including one sage lady who informed them the would never get "laid" behaving like that. For good measure, they threw in a verse of Advance Australia Fair and We Are Australian. If these kids are the future then I don't hold out much hope. They were an embarrasment to themselves and this country.

Geez that does explain a lot. Put him and Gieschen on the next mission to Mars.

I'm pretty relieved that my opinion of Luke Darcy seems to be shared by a few people here. A few of my mates were thinking I had a vendetta against him. I swear his opinions don't even fall into the "half-baked" category.

In other news, I sat in the same restaurant as Chris Connolly today. He drinks tea. I resisted the urge to tell him what I think. I assume he probably knows.
