Looks like careless conduct to me, with low impact but was high. Should equal a fine.

    No doubt won't cos Koz.

He's regularly pretty careless about many aspects of his game.

Which is a pity because he can do  "stuff"

May's Hamstring in the GF was shot to bits couldn't jump, close down space to spoil, he was stationary and only useful in pack situations.

As a defensive unit like tonight relied on his teammates to get him through the game, we have enough quality to cover his absents.

We can do this tonight. 💪

    Yes they can do it.

The test is whether the FD can marshal the structure so they do.

    Same next week.

This is a big test  very early in the season.

They need to win one at least and be in the game in the other at worst

Swift? Pfft … I’d say he’s got the moves like Jagger. 🕺 or Travolta

Only similarity with Swift is the moves come with 30+ others on the stage.

I trust you’ve also sent this condescending message to Ricky Lever. He was the one MOST certain he’d done an ACL.

To be fair Levers legs are a constant worry ,as are Mays for that matter.

Both need mobility and closing speed as part of their excellence package.

Paranoia is also part that package I reckon

Petty went well down back and will have to play there the next 2 games despite training as a forward all summer.

Harry was undervalued as a back in the shadow of May and Lever and may possibly be overvalued up forward given the small sample size. It was a ( desperate) needs based move at the time

Move him back while BBB can still get around.Take the load off TMac.

Time for JVR and Fritta to plant the flag as a regular working duo and for appropriate supply to be upgraded to  "elite".

Clearly honouring BBB's long leads is part of that picture as long as it lasts

    Season defining fortnight imo

Up until just before 3/4 time I think Kozzie thought he was 195cm ,trying to take marks in packs. Stayed on the ground and he would have kicked 5

Someone needs to take him aside and explain reality to him.Maybe an           intervention from the whole leadership group.

Does his highlights package include one high pack  mark?

If you think the FD don't know this and haven't tried to fix the problem you've got rocks in your head.

Every one can bang on about it as much as they want but what is the answer.

You can't make an in contract player just decide to come to us.

The only proven out of contract KPF available over the last few years was BBB and we got him.

Some other contracts have come up but their clubs know their value and have made it near impossible to pry them away.

It's difficult to understand why Hogan and that other guy went West then.

Tip..they didn't want to play for the MFC.

And then there's Grundy and likely Petty

Misguided endeavour with Grundy and bad luck with injuries to Brown, McDonald, and Smith. I wonder if we’ve done enough to search the state leagues? Someone to do what Podsiadly did for Geelong in their era of success.

I think we look the most balanced and potent with Petty and JVR forward. Seems to bring Chandler more into the game too.

Incredibly unfortunate to lose Petty and Melksham late last year. Smith was commendable in the finals and so it’s a great shame that’s he’s probably played his last game for us.

Remind me how many games Petty played forward..

    It's a speculation, not a solution.

Smith won't be an answer and that's not bad luck.

TMac and BBB..they have to suck it up and find alternatives...should have done it 2 seasons ago notwithstanding a few cameos that were never going to last

I love the way critics identify a problem and never offer a solution. Who Derm, and how?

You can only buy what people are selling.

Yeah Dermie is mostly nonsense without completion.

This one is correct.. the need for JVR to learn his position as well as the need for a big body; but how would you " sell" MFC to a big forward  you wanted to lever out of another Club

And what trade price would you ask if it meant Melbourne was going  to be a serious threat to your Club?

It’s just Groundhog Day every time with this team.

It really doesn’t matter how many times you get the ball , you’ve got to be able to do something with it.

We still have the same forward line coach in Stafford, surprise surprise!

Horrible to watch, fumbly and wasteful and zero connection with the forwards.

If Schache gets another game next week I will not be there.

    Ground hog  day..a perfect summary.

Only one thing needs to change and it's name is Goodwin.

All the reasonable observations  the frustrations and theoretical possible fixes are really just blah blah blah.

Still ,its a good movie if you like a  complete lack of authority  and hoping the dice will fall correctly every so often to keep you at the table

Sorry what? Why is it unworthy? He has form and was he not on the record about going out to do some damage?

in any case, that’s hardly a slur, especially relative to some of the other disconnected-from-reality comments and behaviour from their fans. Speaking of deplorables…..

    *ducks for cover*

Mate if he played for Melbourne we would be saying something altogether different such as his regret for the accident, how he's devastated at what he has caused and that he accepts his aggression has to tempered in the future.

In reality he may be genuinely remorseful..you don't know and  neither do I  .

Put a sock in it and go for the AFL and their two faced self serving  response to most everthing.

Maynard should have got 3 weeks minimum ( however they work it out) and the rules clarified.

I imagine MFC will get very little joy from the system and trust that Gus will be around the Club in some shape or form while he moves on with his new career.

Ongoing best medical oversight is the least the AFL should provide

A lot of cobwebs dusted off there.

    No injuries.

    Young players getting a run.

    Could have been worse.

I wouldn't be writing anyone off on this performance but not many players excelled either.

Skills and ball movement will improve... surely

    One would hope so eventually

It’s not that simple. It’s overwhelmingly in the best interests of the AFL to have Carlton or Collingwood in the GF, with the ultimate dream… both of them. That’s the ‘Why’ and as for the ‘How’ think of all the serendipitous happenings at the pointy end of last season.

    No problem with that truth.

It wasn't what I responded to though

Well they came close to it last year!

Those two teams played well...the Blues when it mattered

    The Lions as well.

Melbourne had injuries and underperformed in various ways

    Which bit was the AFL?

I think you're confusing them with the commentariat...which is a little hard to do, although both are generally unappealing.

ps Maynard ,although he'd be a useful  addition to the Dee's, isn't good enough to  count in your argument

The media love for Collingwood is sickening. I also feel we are all being softened up for a Pies Blues GF this year. #sportsentertainment

The Pies are great viewing...unusually so.

Carlton altogether just another team on the up who have guys who can actually mark the ball.

Can you explain how the AFL are organising the teams to play the Grand Final please?

    Thankyou in advance

T.Mac is cooked, almost cremated AND was training with defence where he just looked O.K. It must be Shache's time now surely!

Defence ,running in a straight line is Tom's only chance..and he's probably depth down back anyway.

One of the things things that has struck me about watching EPL and NFL, two sports i know bugger all about, is how insightful the commentary and general coverage is. And how much it helps me understand the game and adds to my enjoyment as a viewer.

They are obviously generally speaking to fans who know the sports super well, but their way of discussing the game as they commentate is so illuminating.

EPL has few breaks in the flow of the game, but they effortlessly weave really interesting info in about the teams, tactics, records etc -all while doing a great job of calling the game and not allowing their comments to destroy their flow.

The games nver have more than two callers, and when they do have two, one is the clear special comments expert who doesn't bang on about irrelevant rubbish, bang on about their pet topics or interrupt the caller.

And in the NFL, with all its breaks, the graphics and analysis is simply amazing. I have learnt so much about different tactics and what the game is all about js from watching the coverage. the NFL also has a great balance between journalist/professional callers and ex players providing legitimately interesting and useful special comments.

I have also been watching the Aus v West Indies and India v England tests, and the coverage is uniformly excellent.

Test cricket is a sport i DO know a lot about, yet i am constantly learning new info and deepening my knowledge about tactics, the game I'm watching and the history of the game.

On the above, this is one of the best things I've ever seen in the coverage of any sport. Just awesome: intelligent, insightful and i learnt new information that as someone who played a lot of cricket a player and lifelong lover of cricket really surprised me (for example Lara taking about premediating shots - not when slogging or chasing runs, but as part of his technique - breaking one of the immutable rules of good batting technique that was drummed into me growing up):

You are being very kind to the cheer squad of Australian Test Cricket  "commentators "

You mean the side that we belted up there in the last round last year with a makeshift forward line?

Grundy won't make that much difference and their captain Mills is out.

    There's reasons to be positive.

You've got one objection to the post you are replying to.

    Hardly a comprehensive take down.

I think Grundy might be " huge" at Sydney.

    Or not

I see us as the next Geelong. Every year people will be predicting our demise but we will annoy everyone hanging around year after year.

As I recall the scorn on here for the Cats over last decade I assume yours is not a happy prognostication

I suspect it may be correct though, but then  I have always thought that being in the "conversation " year after year was a good thing for supporters, while  "bookending" Flags was  better than half a century droughts
