Well, except for Maynard: some fierce tackling to make him earn each and every touch of the footy the 'old school way' will be in order!!! Give him back some of his medicine dispensed on Langdon and Gus.

During the year when I waded through other club(s) fan sites to do the 'What They Are Saying @...) threads, I noticed some referred to 'Demonland' as 'Boomerland'!! I laughed and laughed but thought better of mentioning it in those threads. The last few pages of this thread suggest this is a good place to drop their little pearl...' !!! 😉

Latest changes: Added ND39 from the JJ move to Sydney Added Fullerton to the list Show the list changes identified, yet to be completed (names in blue) Melksham is staying. Yet to decide if it as a senior listed or rookie listed player. It probably won't be decided until time of the draft. It won't affect the list size, just the mix. My guess is he will be a rookie as we may need the senior list to cover all the departures. If that guess is correct the chart would show 3 senior and 1 A rookie list spot, That is a very tidy draft hand we hold!!

I Don't underestimate the fwd role at all nor what JvR did. Happy for the kid but that he got himself suspended when we needed him most devalues his year somewhat. That McVee is ahead of other defenders says he more than held his own without depending on May, Lever etc

Was he? He got only 6 Brownlow votes for the games before injury. Without checking I'm not sure he got many BOG coaches votes prior to injury. The reports about him leaving hospital, going for a run, self tattooing, going to an outside physio aren't examples of a team player. A lot has changed since 2021. Then he adopted for himself the motto 'to be a better teammate'. By various accounts that hasn't been the case in more recent times.

The trading process started late last week with the List Managers/Recruiters annual meeting to discuss their list status and trade posibilities. To flag mfc being 'open to a trade' all it had to do was leave Clarrie off the so called 'untouchables' list. Or there was some other mechanism at that meeting to flag mfc's position. Naturally, clubs started doing their homework. It was only a matter of time before the info reached Twomey and Beveridge. MFC didn't leak a possible Oliver trade - it is part of the trading process. This also answers the question of how other clubs came to know that mfc was open to trading him. It is worth noting that his management made no comment and the club has not denied the story. Clubs don't let Oliver type players go without exceptional reasons. We don't know what they are but shouldn't doubt that being open to trading him is the result of a long and considered process.

This is the best I could do. Couldn't find a suitable wig. Worth noting the collar is a good match!! I nearly put an after-party cocktail frock on Bbo so that he is suitably attired for that event but have run out of time. Probably just as well... From a long way out I thought this was our year. I was so confident we would be in the GF I booked a city hotel for this weekend. To enjoy the festivities, see the city awash with red and blue and make up for missing the fanfare in 2021. I'm still in disbelief that we aren't at the G today. I truly believe we should be there and my confidence wasn't misplaced; there was no way to predict the impact of thuggery and our appalling goal kicking. As it is now not a Coll vs Carl game I will watch it cosseted as it were at the home of Dees supporting friends. Having to barrack for Daniher and Zorko is rather sickening but there is no other way. Go Roy boys!!!!

Agreed. We are truly at the stage of anyone/anywhere. The only ground we haven't conquered is in Adelaide but right now the chances of playing there this year are few. Given our current form I reckon we would conquer that also!

Some of our hardest games are yet to come but: we play Crows and Freo at Casey - big advantage for us. we have beaten Lions at their ground in a GF The other two games are Eagles in Perth and North We may not go undefeated and I prefer we don't take that 'monkey on our back' into finals but it is difficult to see how we don't make top two from here and get Home finals, albeit probably not at Casey.

Not sure why folks are so perturbed about Grundy not playing nor being selected as sub. Last year he was ready to play at about round 18/19. He played several weeks in the VFL and he was ready to go in the seniors. Coll did not select him for the last few rounds nor for their 3 finals. Nor did they select him as sub for any of those games. A similar scenario as this year at mfc. We will never know if he would have helped us win a final. Whatever the reason I don't see any reason to criticise the club/coaches for his non-selection. Maybe we discovered what Coll knew or have similar reasons for not playing him. There is precedent here.

bb You are right we have put ourselves in that situation. I don't mind fair criticism based on even a modicum of analysis or constructive dialogue. It is the cheap shots, sometimes wrong, that the sheep following media jump on give those narratives a life of their own that I don't like.

As a few other posters have mentioned of late it was 17410. A theme picked up in this excellent article: the-enormous-numbers-that-show-why-barassi-belongs-on-footy-s-mount-rushmore. "...Anyone who scored Ron Barassi’s prized signature would remember the accompanying number beneath it – 17410..." So it is interesting that he used 31 as well as 17410 that day. Maybe the 31 is now the better souvenir!
