  1. The fox footy boys going after how poor it looked and there’s nothing Stewart can do but fall on his sword. Trial by media done. Minimum 3 weeks.
  2. You’re right. Just saw it and it was a shoulder braced to hit him flush in the head. It’s really, really bad.
  3. Agree. He’s a great, and usually fair, player - but that was everything we’ve been told the AFL wants to get out of the game.
  4. Has to be four week. Prestia out this week and next week, elbow to the head. Was knocked out on the ground by an elbow after the ball went well by. Didn’t need to do anything. If the AFL is serious you have to rub him out for twice what he cost the guy playing the ball.
  5. Stewart deserves four weeks for that! Horrific
  6. I’m not. I’m hoping they beat Geelong - and then fall in a hole.
  7. I thought the umpires did a good job on Thursday night. They stayed out of the game, and only paid what was there (except the Daniher frees which I wasn’t sold on). The issue is that umpires are the public face of the administration of a game that’s become far too complicated. They are there so people will go them in the absence of any alternative. I understand the AFL’s need to want to protect the umpires, but the reality is the problem sits with the AFL itself. The umps are doing there job, but often the job requirements don’t make sense, or aren’t clearly communicated to stakeholders. If the AFL wants to fix the problem of umpire respect they need to simplify the game, and it’s communication.
  8. Freo loading? Carlton’s second halves have been terrible all year yet not today. Freo looked well off it against hawthorn at home 2 weeks ago too.
  9. Carlton’s game style looks to be built off the back of manic turnaround running and intensity. The problem is they can’t do it for 4 quarters - and it’s physically crushing over the course of a 22 game season. Be interesting if they develop a different gear. Every game I’ve seen them play all year they fade a lot after half time.
  10. It’s interesting watching Mac Andrews given his history. Played on ball in his underage games but isn’t anywhere near big enough for it against adults. He might end up being a not quite player for a few years until he finds his position.
  11. Somehow Richmond get to play an ‘away’ game today at their own home ground against a team with a publicly funded stadium 50 minutes away? Why is Chris Scott not whinging about this like he does every year about finals? This is why I hate Geelong. They constantly get it both ways, and complain about it only when it doesn’t suit them.
  12. Roaming Brian is an embarrassment. It’s like watching a drunk uncle work the room at a wedding he wasn’t invited to.
  13. Perhaps there are ramifications for the AFL and it’s integrity from a gambling perspective? It certainly seems like, in a media industry obsessed with every minute detail, no one is going near this with a 10 foot pole. Maybe Scott was told to put a dampener on it.
  14. I find the Scott comments fascinating. Selwood went out of his way to mention it. He’s a very experienced player. There’s just no way this got on the agenda by accident. I think they wanted other clubs to know, arguably because they’ve been late to the party. It never had to be mentioned in any way, but it was - by their long term captain whose spent 15 years toeing the line with the media. Maybe I’m cynical but it’s out there for a reason.
  15. There was excellent banter at the ground last night. A die hard Bears supporter started giving it to us early in the second saying we weren’t ‘who we were last year’. I very loudly reminded her ‘at least we’re still who we were 100 years ago’. But the winner was the bloke in front of me who yelled out to Joe ‘You’re not even in my top 5 favourite Danihers’. I love going to the footy.
  16. I legitimately thought the cheer squad did a fantastic job all game, and really lifted in the second half and brought it home magnificently. Kudos to all. Made me proud.
  17. Ya think? I read that game like an absolute page turner and was very happy with the plot.
  18. The cheer squad was ordinary, but otherwise the game was great. @WalkingCivilWar 🫣👋🤣
  19. He was sensational. If he stays then fantastic, and if he leaves he’s going to leave on an astronomical contract offer that will mean we get a LOT in return. Imagine if we took Lachie Ash or Dylan Stephens and Jackson went somewhere else? We would be furious.
  20. I’m going to write a longer post about that game when I get on the train… but if that performance didn’t make you love your footy team a little bit more than you thought was possible I feel sorry for you.
  21. Petracca can’t play in the midfield when he’s not fit. He looks moles off it. He was absolutely spent at the 20 minute mark of that quarter. Something is very clearly wrong with him.
  22. I’ll be there on my lonesome (which I’m assuming is a measure of how the side is travelling, and has nothing to do with my personality).
  23. Disco a bit stiff with the injury. ‘Fractured Face’ sounds like something I’d call my mate.
  24. Weid, May Bedford In Turner, Gawn, M Brown, Chandler out From afl site
  25. Oh god I hope so! Can you imagine the meeting with De Goey where they had to explain the concept of the financial year as opposed to the Gregorian calendar? I’d pay to watch that.
