  1. Interested in Goodwin's assessment of Hogan: "...we’re looking forward to continuing to build Jesse as a forward and midfielder as we move into the season." Always liked it when Jesse was moved into the midfield...things just "happened..."
  2. Interesting excerpt from the aforementioned Australian article: "While getting a ride home from training the following week (after dislocating his shoulder), he again dislocated the shoulder as he was resting his arm on the car window. Subsequent surgery ruled him out for the rest of his junior career but a new operational technique has all but guaranteed he will never suffer a similar problem again with that shoulder, no matter how hard he tackles. Maybe all footballers should have this operation, shoulder injury or not....
  3. I think Ben Dixon on League Teams this week showed the most damning footage (from the Lions game) of the Demons general laziness when the opposition has the ball. It's not our skill level that's killing us, just our lack of work ethic - he correctly picked the Pies to win, whereas Roos, Dermie and Johnno picked Melbourne...
  4. Goody's presser revealed that Wagner dislocated his fibula. Apparently it went straight back in, but remains a bit sore. Never known of that injury before...
  5. From my experience coaching juniors, training on the non-preferred foot seems to automatically improve your kicking on the preferred side. Stuffed if I know why!
  6. Has anyone mentioned that Petracca looks and plays like Darren Jarman?
  7. I still can't get over Heppel's statement on 360 last night that those who call them drug cheats are "uneducated on the situation". Does that mean he is "educated" and the rest of us aren't? If so, that would indicate he is fully conversant with the WADA code...and the fact that professional athletes are totally responsible for what goes into their bodies. You can't keep blaming everyone else Dyson, particularly when you infer that you are so "educated"....
  8. There's a picture on the MFC website (Day 2 training photos) of Mr. Hulett (I think). I call him Mister, because I would genuinely run the other way if I met him in a darkened alley.... And I can't believe he's only 18 years old and put on 4KG's since being drafted....
  9. Uh-Oh chongo, the game is up - definitely NOT good news for the Dons (or Milkshake I'm afraid).. WADA likens Essendon to BALCO case In fact, I'd go so far as to suggest Hulett and Wagner were drafted just in case Melksham got suspended.
  10. vandenBerg recently said in an interview “I’ve certainly played with some very good players who I’ve thought ‘I don’t see how I’m a better player than they are and I’m on an AFL list and they’re not.’ I have no doubt Jason Taylor had a few words with Aaron regarding his thoughts on who we should draft from the NEAFL
  11. Don't get me wrong, I think Hogan will be our best player since Robbie. But he has one minor weakness....can't kick further than 45-50 meters (accurately that is)!
  12. Good to see White, Neal-Bullen and Michie getting a lot of touches...(13, 12 and 10 respectively)
  13. This appointment alone tells me WADA are deadly serious about this case...I'd try to do a deal if I was the players.... no wait...
  14. I have a sneaking suspicion that, if he plays well again this afternoon, Aidan Riley might well be in the mix...
  15. Makes sense - who knows how long it would take for the AFL to convene an appeals tribunal...anything from 4 to 6 months would be my guess. By then the season would be over and Essendon get their way yet again.
  16. This! Agree 100% with these players...and Fitzy a bit of a surprise for mine...as for Grimes, still and iffy kick and decision making awful. Matt Jones the same. Perhaps Bail only marginally better...
  17. Watching the live stream, I'm pretty impressed with Michie's game since half time. Disposal OK and gets a lot of hard balls...
  18. Spencer and Gawn should be doing well (in the ruck) as their opponent is absolutely hopeless. Spencer did have a shot on goal from 15 meters out more or less right in front and barely scored a point!
  19. Half time: Casey 6.11 Frankston 1.4 Pederson and Riley 2 goals each
  20. Honestly - Bennell might as well be wearing a Carlton jumper. Matt Jones, Grimes and Bail are superstars compared to him...
  21. Vanders is probably a little jittery because he didn't get usual 30+ possessions that he gets in the NEAFL - he is not used to getting only 17 possessions. But he doesn't waste a single possession! And as everyone has pointed out, his 1%'s are invaluable to the team. One further point: I reckon every member of the team should take lessons from Vanders on how to weight a kick - sublime....
  22. When you get knocked over going for the ball, don't just lie on the ground pretending to be stunned and hoping like hell for a free kick! As it was, the Gold Coast player just handballed over a prone Jetta for an easy goal...a moment or two later, he got up looking a little sheepish...
  23. Don't care how well he played, I'd drop Jetta for that atrocious act in the last quarter - simply put, it's just not on. Even the commentators went a bit quiet on it. And it probably cost us a goal...
  24. According to Footywire, he never played a senior game. Probably thought he would if did what he was told!
  25. Jack Grimes may have had 100% DE, but the number of times he handballs to team mates under the hammer is ridiculous. It's as though the footy is a hot potato and he thinks he has 0.0001 seconds to get rid of it...
