Is he anti Melbourne? Perhaps just anti Gary Lyon. Spends every week day morning with him. The two constantly giving each other s h i t
-
Yeah he is no ordinary tackler. He didn't stick with some today but his pressure around the ball was excellent especially in the first half, the same half where he made a few mistakes and many on here seem to think he was terrible. I thought he and Oliver were BOG

whose kick was that out of the middle to out wide? perfection

They are getting very easy fwd 50 entries

Hawkins little brush of the hand will be a major talking point along with score review but there always has to be a team the media has to focus on that is down and out/done/discraceful/need to have a long good hard look at themselves etc. You are right we are definitely right there ready to be the whipping boys for another week if we lose. If we win I reckon it might be Freo looking like a huge loss along with all their other drama at the moment.

Match Preview and Team Selection - Round 7
Young Blood replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Will be interested to see the level of strapping Trac has on the finger and how it affects his disposal. -
Wait so our ruckman is Lynch? He's had something like 82 hitouts for his whole career. Max will probably break Goldsteins record and get 83 in one season!
-
Would obviously love him at the club. But I think Lucifer is right in that we would need to give up something pretty substantial to get him. In the end we really had to give up a fair bit for Lever. This guy would be top 10 outside mids in the comp in his prime at 25.

I was talking about this website for posting such arousing videos!

I hope we can get to the point with good depth where we can take on players who have deficiencies but with high upside. I've seen him really dominate games. He's 27 so not super young though. Still if we can gain the luxury of getting cheaper players like him to turn them around for depth/upgrades, why not? On a side note who the f is the guy in the photo who comes up when you google him? some fat white guy.

What a wonderful site

I think we're in a good position. I think Spargo could potentially play ANB's role but off the back of only one game I'm not sure. ANB puts a lot of pressure on the opposition and works hard at positioning off the ball. I don't think he's going to be dropped. I agree with some of the whacks on Tyson here but again don't think he will be dropped. Not until Brayshaw takes the next step and we have a healthy Viney. There's just not someone else I would put in right at this moment that would play a different or similar role to trump him.
-
Don't know where he says he unequivocally does NOT want to play VFL, but I am sure that is the case and fair enough. Will probably still play VFL i reckon
-
His positioning still needs work but when he is in the right position he contests really well. He works really hard with his running for his size and the skills will get better over time. People forget that Rance while being great over head in his first few years, he was really fumbly and turned the ball over often.
-
So is this roughly your team when fully fit and healthy? Who comes in that you think he better to play a role then Tyson and ANB? Jetta Omac Hibberd Hunt Lever Salem Lewis Brayshaw Harmes Trac Tmac Hannan Fritsch Hogan Melksham Oliver Jones Gawn Int: Vince, Viney, ???, ???

Just listened to Buckley answer these sorts of questions on SEN. He articulated some similar view points on here perfectly. He went through different periods of game style and how teams adjusted. E.g. Geelongs run and carry in waves after 07/09 was combated by St. Kilda and Collingwoods manic pressure across oppositions half forward. Hawthorn then changed it up by possessing the ball and kicking over the high press. I just think the game will adapt once again and we need to let it do that. We've seen similar game styles (Richmond/Bulldogs) of high numbers around contests, manic full ground pressure and getting the ball forward at any cost. I'ts working at the moment and Melbourne have started to show they can do it as well. I look forward to the next change in style to beat it though. Also as Bucks mentioned lowering the interchange is going to break players. They're running faster and more km's then ever, the game is still just as physical. We're going to see more injuries and less intense football. I don't think interchange is the answer. Again let be for a while and comeback once more time and research has been put in.

Hope that is the case for Viney also.....

I also noticed he looked uncomfortable most of the game. Had both boots off in a huddle I think it was quarter time so I can see them being careful with him. The fact he played out the game was a good sign. Hopefully he can be light on it this week but I also hope the club is cautious.

This one stings. He has played some really consistent football. He was asked to be more inside mid the first few rounds which he did OK with and had great tackling and second efforts. I thought even though he made mistakes on the weekend he played off half back and looked more comfortable and was key with his ball use in space. He and Hibberd really steady us across half back and allows Lewis to play more wing for better forward entry. This is a worse out then Trac for us structurally. I image Wagner will come back in.

I think our style of play on the night against Richmond certainly didn't look as pretty as Collingwoods. They moved the ball more daringly. We were going back to basics of kicking the ball long and relying on bringing to ground to win at the contest to go inside 50. We didn't look as good but just as effective.
-
I think the only way he gets squeezed out from playing predominantly mid is if Angus takes the next step in being a consistent inside mid. I think Gus certainly took some steps toward on the weekend especially in the second half. I still think Tyson is best 22 when all fit, he wins his own ball and generally makes the right decisions under pressure, unlike some of out mids he has a bit more time and patience in the tackle to wait for the right handball, kicking still needs some work. But it is an interesting question. What hurts him is he doesn't play other positions either end of the ground. Gus, Trac, Jones, Salem, Harmes, ANB and Lewis are all more versitile (not better necessarily at this point) but it does put pressure on Dom to play at a high level as a mid moving forward. A good thing I guess.
-
Regarding playing with more structure offensively. You could see last week that they wanted to get back to very basic football of moving the ball forward at any cost (compared to the lack thereof against the hawks). In some ways the frantic style of play seemed to startle Richmond at times. We kicked the ball long and relied on pressure to out work them around the ball to get scoring chances. It was good to see this as there will be more wet weather games ahead where that style of play will be important. But today I hope to see some switching of the ball and more daring movement through the corridor.

Some of the work he was doing on the wings last night was very impressive. His spacial awareness and decision making is pretty quick for someone his size.

There's no way they drop Garlett unless he's sore or injured this week. He is far too dangerous on a fast dry surface. I'm sure Spargo is tracking in the right direction and Garlett has had two very poor games by his standards but I just can't see it happening this week.
