true but there needs to be some honest reflection on how far we've come and the valid reasons for not quite getting over the line. its not realistic to expect the side to be playing 4 solid qtrs against the no1 side at this stage. had they not put in effort then yes we should be gutted but for rd 10, a 3 1/2 qtr effort over the top side is very good . we shall demand more but lets not ignore the realities of the teams potential at this stage

If we get to add Treloar in there..................

Exactly, i was just thinking, most of our opponents end up getting pretty beaten up and either play out a man down or some decent niggles. like my U16s coach always said, go harder than the other guy and you wont get hurt

You guys notice that every team we play lately is considered to be a bit flat and not playing their best? When does that stop being a coincidence and start being due to our pressure, strong defensive cohesion and contested ball. . Im disappointed as everyone but that will burn the boys. Look out Collingwood

An idea for the living allowance which would make it fairer is that the Swans are given the same salary cap as everyone else. Once they have their list, say in november, the AFL then distributes that extra million by dividing it between the 45 players, which would then give each player an extra 20k. at the moment the whole point of COLA is lost if that extra mill is used on one player. Im pretty sure Derrikx is not seeing too much of the COLA. My idea means that the COLA is used for what the acronym says its used for.

Extenuating circumstances at play but imagine slotting Clark in to that fwd line and ruck contests. It couldve been a ripper of a fwd line but not to be.

The Mighty Demons, not the "Dees"

Chook, that would be a hell of an interesting line of merchandise -
The Mighty Demons, not the "Dees"

Well this thread is like a poll without running a poll and the overwhelming response seems to be that 'Dees" is well accepted by our own. Perhaps one poster was correct in saying that once we start plying and winning like Demons, Dees will take on a whole different connotation. -
The Mighty Demons, not the "Dees"
Fitz Fitzpatrick replied to Fitz Fitzpatrick's topic in Melbourne Demons
Most definitely on the lower end of the list of issues the club is dealing with but really is a pretty limp nickname for a footy club. not as bad as fuschias, gee that was a shocker. -
Id love to start to see supporters and the football public move away from referring the Club as the "Dees". Yes its a nice nickname but thats the issue I have with it. Its too soft. What is a 'Dee' by the way? They are the Demons and now that they are slowly beginning to play like Demons I feel they should be referred to as such. Dees, which sounds quite effeminate and most certainly not an aggressive name, is used by the media and the footy public far more than "Demons" . Id like to see that discouraged. Nothing sounds more puncy in the stands than someone yelling out "Go Dees"! Would love to hear some opinions on this

This post is Bang on. Situation summarised. The side not rolling over is a massive improvement on last year and advice worth heeding - savour the journey. there will be some hidings no doubt but enjoy the new found respect for the MFC as the journey continues

We've got a 6foot 5 bloke with exquisite skills and speed. he should be an answer to our fwd line issues yet the fact not one poster even considers it as an option is a blight on his performance and career to this date. He should at least be able to plug a gap yet up fwd yet in reality would only be a liability as the footy was run back out of the opponents back line. a shocking indictment on him

AD was the clubs biggest Ally. Something I tried to tell people on here last year. He was adamant Melbourne needed to remain in the comp. Should Gillon Mc take the top job then the club is in a bit of strife. He believes in relocating and feels that MFC and its past holds no weight on the future. Now with the addition of Evans who is also keen on removing one club from the Melbourne marketplace , the club is in all sorts of bother. Remember also, the 18 team TV rights agreement is only applicable till the end of this TV rights deal. Negotiations for the next deal are in preliminary stages. MFC is in the firing line and unless something remarkable happens, theres an even money chance we are witnessing the last 40 or games of the Melbourne Football Club as we know it.

He would have Tonnes of respect in the AFL community. no doubt about it. Just because hacks like Barret and Robbo dont talk about him doesnt mean opposition players and coaches arent. He would be well recognised by those that matter. Do not make the mistake of confusing media hacks with the "AFL community "

Hows this for a beaut. "A stiff tackle from Jack Watts" - Tim Lane

Do people not comprehend the state of the Melbourne situation. Carlton is only near us on the ladder because you cant put a 12inch gap between 17th and 18th positions when you print the ladder in the paper. MFC is not in the same LEAGUE as Carlton or anyone else for that matter. Stop kidding yourself. If Melbourne loses by less than 10 goals Ill be suprised. MFC list is VFL standard.

proteins and amino acids are the building blocks of muscle webber. grimes is built like a rookie. the falafels and chick pea salads arent doing it for him. and to make it clear i never sais bulk equates to strength. but bulk is bulk and in todays AFL youre going to need some of that

Remember the journo who said MFC didnt stand for anything.? Well he was wrong They do stand for a lot. MFC is a charity organisation subsidised by a decreasing number of gullible patrons who's core goals are to provide long term financial assistance to men who have no co-ordination or skill , yet harbour a desire to play Australian Football. In other words the MFC is a charity for Spuds
-
siddle doesnt play a contact sport in a position that requires strength and tackling
-
just read on another thread that grimes dosent eat meat. no wonder he looks like an Aus-Kicker and gets man handled so easily. drop him backto casey until he learns to eat properly and stops letting his team mates down. FFS.

thats what i keep telling the Wife
-
its an absolute disgrace that grimes is still captain. im sure hes a gentleman however

why do people keep insisting on including jamar in their list of key players missing??!!, FMD, you guys have short memories! can you not remember his string of 0 and 1 posession games last year with 20 hitouts to nobody. the guy is a dud who fluked 1 good season FOUR years ago! jesus christ guys!! also, why is grimes not copping flack in this thread? he was deplorable saturday night. countless occasions of poor skill errors adn selling teammates in to trouble. the biggest liability of a captain in the league. is VFL standard and am sick of seeing him listed to play. Get Clisby in there and get some experience in to him. That [censored] handball to frawley at CHF that resulted in a turnover and goal to the saints sums up grimes for me. should not be captain and should def not be an automatic inclusion.
