  1. For those wanting trades done, locked away and sealed early on in the piece, you may very well be disappointed. Free agency ends on the 19th of October, therefore compensation picks won't be dished out until such time for the AFL to assess the net gains and losses of players. These compensation picks are sure to be used to secure deals. But as I write this, I have just thought of another issue that to my knowledge has not been addressed. For example, say next week we do a deal with the Suns for a straight swap with pick 13 (I said it’s just an example, settle down). We sign off, they sign off... everyone is happy. October 19th comes around and St Kilda has not gained any free agents, the AFL settles their compensation as a 1st round pick to be taken immediately after their pick 12 (thats pick 13 for those playing at home). Does that then push the now Suns pick back to 14 even though they had signed off to receive pick 13? I guess it must because I don't see any other way around it. Just another interesting thing to factor in. Another reason I guess that we will most likely see deals done in the final weeks so everyone knows where they stand and what is actually on offer.
  2. But but... Jace Bode, and Dan Hughes.
  3. I always had time for the ginger ninja... I wonder what Chris Johnson is up to these day, ha. Perhaps we could get a reunion happening.
  4. I wanted to play... but now I just feel dirty.
  5. If GC bid for Viney then we should propose a juicy, yet fictitious trade for Caddy that will have the Suns salivating. Drag the negotiations out essendon style until the end of the trade period, then take him for free in the PSD (assuming GWS don't stand in the way of his wish to return to Victoria). Wishful thinking I known, but would be nice to finally get one up on another team... even if it is only a franchise club.
  6. Or perhaps our club embodies Hugh Hefner more, we have a large number of younger bodies at our house but they are largely for show as nothing works like it did in the 50's.
  7. Goddard now a signed Essendon player... St Kilda not matching the offer. Goddard Joins Essendon Will be interesting to see when and what compensation St Kilda will receive and if they chase any FAs. Right now one would have to assume our pick 13 just became pick 14.
  8. They can't, f/s bidding happens next Monday in which GC will still be in posession of pick 2. Viney can only go to Melbourne, GWS or GC.
  9. Only we won't be able to "steal" him until after f/s bidding next monday.
  10. I would expect that at the very best, we would receive an "end of first round" compensation pick (# 24) if we lost all three without adding any FA's. I would much rather add the experience of Byrnes and Lynch who know how hard you have to work to achieve finals success, than add a 5th/6th 18yr old that don't know how hard you have to work to be on an AFL list. Thats just my opinion. But really, who knows how the AFL are going to grade net losses of FA's.
  11. Nice delivery that went straight through to the keeper
  12. Perhaps he didn't want to get Port Adelaide pregnant. They have enough issues to worry about. Good guy Brett Ratten is.
  13. Words cannot express how much I like this post.
  14. I nearly had a 3-way once... All I needed was 2 more people.
  15. In a thread about key position forwards, why do I keep seeing Wellingham's name pop up??? Also, Wellingham = hipster....... obviously he is failing at life and can g&gf on every single level. So please no more Wellingham suggestions, I don't want to have to actively despise a Melbourne player... unbearable frustration is all I can handle.
  16. I figured it was something like that. My guess was "he who fornicated us an*lly" But that didn't seem logical considering he has done us a favour, so I propose a new name... HWRALASKWWPABMWBGAAIBTHPPITGFSTWRITT100PASFHTPFTGUAGKOTDWAA2PDPTWFOTCHCERTU,OAINLHAAHHSH. He who ran away like a spoilt kid who was promised a BMW but got an Audi instead, becoming the highest paid player in the game for someone that wouldn't register in the top 100 players and simultaneously forgot how to play football therefore giving us a goodbye kiss on the dick with an additional 2 prime draft picks that will far outweigh the contribution he could ever return to us, oh and I never liked him anyway and he has stupid hair. Far catchier I think.
  17. Pretty much every article I've read involving GWS and Gold Coast have had their moniker's spelt in capitals... no idea why and it's absolutely annoying to read.
  18. Lol at the typo in the topic heading. Congrats to Couch, Panozza, Tynan and Lovett for their individual accolades. While I'm here would like to extend my thanks to you KC for keeping us updated on all things Scorpions and in particular the match day updates and summaries. Really appreciate the time and input you give. I'll be watching the VFL finals with interest, go Scorps.
  19. I keep seeing this written yet have no idea what it stands for???
  20. A deal which cannot be officially agreed upon. My point was that we try and get Viney through to the 2nd round with a "promise" of pick 3. So say we have now locked Viney in with our 2nd rounder with neither GWS or GC bidding. Now we hold the upper hand. We could keep to our word and give them pick 3, or we could play hardball and say it's now pick 4 or nothing.
  21. And right there is where we can be ruthless pricks. Offer GWS pick 3 in exchange for MD2 (if everything else falls into place), then hopefully get Viney through to the 2nd round in the f/s bidding. Come trade time, we could just say pick 3 is now off the table and you can take or leave pick 4. Also, would it not seem really suss to give GWS the higher of our 2 picks. From the outside persepective its going to look like melbourne have done a deal i.e. "draft tampering", or that we are a nice (read soft) club that doesn't mind giving another club an extra advantage in the draft.
  22. Bit of symmetry for Josh Tynan playing the first and last game of the year. Gysberts is interesting, would have thought he had done enough to deserve a call up. Hopefully Neeld is just putting high demands on him to lift in certain areas as I would hate to see him traded. Big preseason for him coming up.
