Kennedy-Harris has 7 or 8 tackles I think which is good but didn’t do much else imo.

Given his vfl form I was expecting more

Not sure if he keeps his spot next week.

I thought he was good, and was involved in some key passages.

He got better as the game went on, which is fair enough given his time away. I'd keep him for sure. Who are you going to drop him for?

    I’m frustrated.

I wanted to gouge my eyes out until Oliver started hitting chests inside 50. Is it that [censored] hard?

Excellent games by Gawn, Oliver, Brayshaw and Hogan.

Opposition were rubbish. I need to see us beat a good team.

People like you bore the crap out of me.

You're team has just won by 50 points. Whinge when we lose, not when we win.

Just freaking enjoy yourself. Who the hell comes on the forum 10 minutes after a solid win and complains that the oppo were rubbish?

The big question for mine is who slots into his position going forward.

Do we do a 'like for like' swap and bring Tyson straight in?

Do we push a flanker (ie Harmes) into the middle long term and go for someone like Bugg (just an example) to play that flank role?

Do we take someone from a back flank like Salem and give him more midfield time?

While it's a big blow to lose him, I think we can be creative in covering for it without losing too much on field.  We did win plenty of games earlier in the season without him and there is no reason why we can't continue to do that.

    Has to be Tyson

We've got team balance just right and has to just be like for like.

Definitely leave Salem where he is - he was fantastic today.

I'd like Bugg back anyway - we are better with him.

I tend to agree Bolton has that mark neeld feel about him, I would be chasing a Roos type coach to right the ship before it sinks

A few weeks ago Roos was on Triple M talking about how AFL has got its coaching structures all wrong, and that clubs should be far more focussed on deeply experienced coaches. He cited NCAA basketball coaches etc who were winning titles in their 60s, 70s and even 80s.

At the time I thought it was a really odd thing for him to be so passionate about, given he had overseen the exact opposite with us. However, coaches like Bolton etc haven't got a hope in hell of lifting a crap team off the bottom. They need an Eade, or Malthouse type, despite their obvious limitations.

At half time, King and Zaharakis pointed out a couple of occasions where Carlton players would turn looking for a handball to a runner that wasn't there, and since then I can't stop seeing it happen to them.  They always look like they've got one less player at the contests than they were expecting or something.  At least these days when we've got the ball, you'd back us in to keep it move it forward.  I'd have a heart attack every time I saw a hot ball if I barracked for this lot.

Let's face it, we've been there/done that for many years. My default position is heart attack when pressure is on.

Bombers injury strife. Stringer out for a month and Ambrose for the year. Players for our finals rivals are dropping like nine pins.  This may be the end of their season.

I did notice this - touch wood, we have players like AVB etc returning, and have a pretty skinny injury list, whilst WCE, Collingwood, Sydney, Essendon and GWS in particular seem to be losing players at a rate of knots.

Garlett may have been a bit quiet, but he has laid 6 tackles this evening.  You can't fault that effort, even if we all wish he had hit the scoreboard a little more.

No, but you can fault his lack of impact.

FFS, we're over 50 points up in Darwin. You'd think we're down by 80 with some of the negative Nancy stuff

I was just about to write - I've done a hell of a lot of whinging for what's going to turn out to be a 10-12 goal win!

I’m so over Jordan Lewis undisciplined play.

Every week he gives the opposition goals on a silver platter.

They always seem to be at really inopportune times as well, and come as part of an oppo run on.

Hard not to be frustrated by that half with the uncapitalised dominance. Probably should have been game over by 1/4 time. This game is almost a replica of the game against Gold Coast earlier in the year. We are on track for a record I50 count.

I noticed Goodwin has moved smith forward in that qtr. Not sure why?

Maybe to check whether he is ineffective all over the ground, or just in defence.

    Turns out it is everywhere.

  11. Have to admit to only watching about 10 minutes of this junk, but my two observations are:

    1. 5.15 always, always comes back to bite you in the bum. 44-13 inside 50s - not like they are going to have 26 for the gam. They will have 45-50 and kill us.

    2. We desperately needed the score board to reflect our dominance and be far enough ahead that we could run around like millionaires in the second half. We didn't need a fight to the death battle in 71% humidity.

It’s what makes it galling, for sure, when you know they’re capable. I think ‘effort’ is a non-binary thing though. The players probably don’t even realise that they’re not working hard enough in the heat of the moment. That’s where good leadership is critical.

I remember Gary Ablett Jr making a comment once that in his first few seasons he always thought he was working his arse off until he one day found another gear and realised he hadn’t been. Obviously there are a number of players yet to find that gear. We can only hope they do.

In my old-man midweek sporting competitions, I can tell when I'm just cruising through a game, or when I've made a conscious choice to run hard and play properly. Surely these blokes can do that by now - it's astonishing.
