C'mon dc , when's the last time anybody ate a turnip ? Disguised as a "roast potato" , I was never fooled . I'm with you on the Brussel Sprout though , putrid items that they are !

Well it's Macca vs 'GTG' in the 1st series . Bring it on ! My mate who's a Penguins fan is on Nashville in the 2nd series (cos they never win anything , apart from Country music awards!) NY vs Washington should go to 7 . Rangers just . Devils to get thru ! It's on the "Cards" Not sure if Dappa Dan is all things Philadelphia . Cheers
-
Ottowa out ! You'll be hoppin' into the top shelf over that result Grimesy ! Toronto partying ? Devils win 3 - 2 and go through to the 2nd round . Wonder if "Puddy" was there with his mates . Oh , hang on , that's just in the tv show . Be funny if he actually was there all "painted up" . Anyways .......the one who started the comedy thread "Cards13" will be happy . Who matches up with who now ?

So true . I find it ridiculous and totally childish when fellow posters "urge" others to do more on this site . If they feel so strongly about it they should go down to the club and volunteer their services . There's always room for volunteers at any club . I often think these "preacher types" probably do very little themselves . Nothing if the truth be known . I doubt if they even go to games . Just want to take anonymous potshots . Weak individuals . And tiresome . And I'm not taking aim at you 'Gonzo' . I got the joke ! And I'm sure you are genuine . Reminds me of a coach I had once had who went off his head about the low numbers at training one Tuesday night . We had to do extra laps etc etc but the players who weren't there got off scott free ! Go figure . He only coached for one year .

Well , now that Phoenix are out of the running I'm hoping for the Spurs to win the whole thing . I tipped Miami to win the Championship but I don't want them to win . I'd like 'em to go out in the 1st round to be perfectly honest!(apologies to any Heat fans) So it's Tim Duncan , Manu Ginobili , Tony Parker and of course our own Patty Mills to hopefully get over the line . Hope I haven't mozzed 'em as I'm not having a lot of luck with my other sporting teams of late !

I sometimes have a listen to the "Tony Kornheiser show" podcast . His 2 hour radio show is based out of Washington . They're all over the Capitals at the moment . How was that bar bill the Bruins ran up last year during their celebrations ? 156,000 grand !! Talk about too much expendable income ! Gosh , I just got my 1000th post up , not sure what to make of that !

Yep , no cigar for Chicago this year . We're not getting that many games over in Oz . No game today which is a pity . Would have been great to watch a game in the lead up to the traditional Anzac Day clash . Florida at New Jersey is the only game scheduled today . Florida lead 3 - 2 . Next game we can watch is on Thursday , Bruins vs Capitals (3-3) . On Fox1 at 9.30am .

OK , the bump has been virtually outlawed and there's too many "Around the necks" paid . Sliding in feet first shouldn't be viewed as something of a "Last bastion" . I believe that some might be viewing it this way . It's like "They can't do anything anymore , they're turning it into netball" . Back in the day , if you went in feet first I reckon you would have been reported for unduly rough play . Though the truth is , that back in the day it rarely happened . It was frowned upon . Anyway Trident , I do see your point of view but it's best we agree to disagree on this occasion . I do wonder what the AFL will do though . My bet is we will see a rule change soon or perhaps after we see another similar incident . Edit : Just watched the incident from a different camera angle on "AFL 360" . Looks even worse . Again , it's the act not the intent that concerns me .
-
Only if it's a line ball . If you watch the incident again when Rohan is 5 metres from the ball , Thomas is 10 metres away but coming at a rate of knots . Thomas had the option of corralling him or tackling him . You and I are looking at the incident from different viewpoints . We're not going to agree . For what it's worth I reckon we're seeing more of this type of thing because the bump has been virtually outlawed and many tackles are judged to be around the neck (when they often shouldn't be) It's just another example of the flow-on effect . But , I guarantee many would view this differently if it were a bit closer to home . People are viewing this in too much of an unemotional way . He's a player from Sydney - who cares hey ! The bloke has a got a snapped leg . It will happen again unless they outlaw sliding in with the feet .
-
Or you concede that the other bloke beats you to the ball . You then tackle him .
-
My argument centre's on going in for the ball feet first / studs up . Interesting that not many have a problem with Goodes being outed for coming in with his knees .
-
If you look at the incident carefully , Thomas goes in feet first , studs up and snaps Gary Rohan's leg and at the same time takes possession of the ball . I can't see intent but it's reckless . But the consequences are huge for Gary Rohan . The reason Soccer is so hot on this type of act is because so many players suffer broken legs from these incidents . In our game many might see that as incidental contact . I don't and never will . Having said all that , the tribunal have let him off . It is a sobering reminder though on how your career can be cut short . The broken leg just above the ankle can end a sportspersons career . I agree with you about your take on players using their head to draw a free . Another accident waiting to happen .
-
'Spose we'll just have to wait on see on that one . They'll either bring in a rule change or ping the next bloke . Let's hope Watts or Trengove don't have their legs broken just above the ankle by a similar act . When I played footy nobody ever came into a contest "feet first" . It would have been viewed as a less than courageous act .
-
Well , he's lucky . My counter argument was the act not the intent . The next bloke who gets cited will get pinged . The AFL have just fired a shot over the starboard bow .
