Hope so but the connections of these G1 winning colts are often quick to retire them to stud (as 3yo's) ... there's just too much money on offer Hitotsu has now won the VRC Derby, Australian Derby & the Australian Guineas That's a great feat! Fingers crossed they run the horse in the Spring at least (Melb Cup included) ... you'd be tempted to take the horse to Europe (especially Royal Ascot) or Japan And Nature Strip wins its 3rd TJ Smith. A true champion in the sprint stakes
-
Hitotsu is one hell of a horse! And it can run in any sort of going ... too good! But will it race on? The Australian Derby win might be it's swansong. The money on offer at stud will be enormous
-
Still alive in our multi's!
-
So all 3 winning will produce a dividend of around about 115-1 (boosted) The good early odds on I Am Superman are no more ... into 6-1 now! The place multi which is showing about 7-1 might be worth a go ... or mix & match Good luck punters!

Damian Lane rides the winner of the UAE Derby (Crown Pride) ... another top Japanese stayer Previously Damian Lane has ridden some big winners in Japan so he's been sought out again The horse might be now running in the Kentucky Derby so Damian could be engaged to ride the horse in that time-honoured classic

7 races from the Rosehill card today to be run at Newcastle on Monday
-
Sweated up and then played up at the barriers ... vets decided to scratch the horse

La Mex late scratching!
-
Rosehill abandoned I wonder when they will race these Group races? Maybe at another track in the next few days?
-
Was on Daisies in the last ... overs? Handy collect and got a 3 leg place multi up as well ... in front going into tomorrow! Handy dividend with all 3 winning - 190-1! Don't rule out the place multi either ... about 9-1 But all 3 can win if they all bring their best. Fingers crossed! Good luck punters!

Hindsight tells us that The Astrologist should have been held over to tomorrow! Marabi end of prep? Certainly got run over by nearly every runner September Run back to her best though - ran really well in the Newmarket ... that was the pointer. I had SR included in a trifecta but didn't really get close. Big dividends in the exotics ... even the quinella paid 450!
-
At this stage The Astrologist is still in tonight's field (William Reid St.) so I'd say it's out of tomorrow's Hareeba St. But no rush on another pick Gorg as it hasn't been scratched yet Happy to wait until tomorrow for the final pick
-
The Astologist is also entered in the $1Million William Reid St on Friday night ... and has drawn nicely in the No.1 barrier (and is an on-pacer on a tight-turning track - ideal) Although, Marabi is a big big chance to win the Reid St so everything else is possibly running for 2nd!

It's been going on for decades but penalties used to be a lot more straightforward than they are now If one of our players is up on report then cross your fingers and hope for the best "Just tell 'em you were going for the mark" seems a good ploy
-
The AFL doesn't seem to care, so will anything change? As previously stated, the next time we see a very similar incident might bring a 4-6 week suspension, or the player gets off, or anything in between ... but who would know? The MRO (or the equivalent body) has been making these sorts of decisions for decades. It's not 'new' news ... just more of the same And I'm looking at the Rioli incident in isolation ... the Mitch Robinson incident can be looked at as similar but in reality, the 2 incidents are poles apart

Well that has left me gobsmacked Ash Barty retires ... reminds me of when Shane Gould retired (although, years later, I totally understand why Shane retired) Our own Robbie Flower retiring seemed premature as well although he did have a full career. Bjorn Borg retiring as a 26yo was another But I'm going to miss Ash playing. So fair and a quiet achiever. A great player. Reckon she could have won at least another 6 slams too -
If Rioli was attempting a mark where are his arms and why aren't they pointed towards the ball? Players are coached to have their arms outstreched (to mark) to stop the spoil from behind So I don't buy the chest mark attempt ... others can disagree of course. Seems a bit too convenient in my view So what happens next time if they use the Rioli incident as the precedent? 4-6 weeks? Off? Who would know?

They just interviewed the trainer of Shelby Sixtysix (Danny Williams) on 'After the Last' on the racing channel ... what a fantastic story! The show is repeated at 9pm tonight unless you've caught hold of it already The horse is now going to run in the TJ Smith! By the way, I recouped very well at Sha Tin yesterday (thanks to Moreira & Purton) ... I pulled the right reigns!

It might be assumed that Petty, Rivers, Hibberd, Salem & Lever won't be available this week. Selection could be tricky once they all become available! That could be a good problem to have but in the meantime, others get their chance If that's the case (5 first choice backmen out), no change other than Salem out (Brayshaw to play at half back) with another midfielder type to come into the team (or as the sub) ... possibly Dunstan with Bedford in the 22 If T-Mac goes back again to cover for Lever, we can go again with Brown & Fritsch as the tall targets (LJ & Gawn periodically as well) Against the GC on a night that may well bring slippery, dewy conditions, those aforementioned 3/4 tall targets should be enough As for Spargo, Kozzie & ANB, all 3 players do a fair bit of work off the ball as well as blocking, bumping at crucial moments along with displaying general forward defensive skills ... something that we never really saw leading up to last season
-
Port & Lions will be thereabouts in September. Conditions were poor last night and it was like watching a game in the rain (although the skills improved after half time) It's interesting that the AFL have put the worst 3 match-ups last this round. No free-to-air on Sunday arvo is highly questionable as well ... those without cable can watch the NRL or NBL on free-to-air today But next week sees the Tigers vs GWS in a return to the 3.20pm Sunday FTA slot I'm not at all surprised re the Cats ... too many skilled players to fall away but not sure they are a threat for the flag. Finals - yes
-
Yep, that dividend is a good one, all things considered. If 1 or 2 of the picks are of good each-way value, the place multi comes into play I must say, I've had better days at the races but there's always Sha Tin tomorrow! #AlwaysGambleResponsibly

I should have taken your lead from last week and taken all 3 in a place multi. The value was there with our 3 this week Well done, DZ!
