  1. Tyson invites pressure on the inside as he doesn't have the bullocking break away ability of a Viney. Viney is a few rungs above Tyson in this regard. I would even argue that Tracc & Harmes are starting to show better traits in this area also. I would rather stick with Clarry, Brayshaw, Tracc & Harmes and go with an outside winger / HF. Kent is the best option for this role when in form vs Hannan / Tyson. Is also more accurate at goal and on average kicks more goals per match than either of those two (when he gets on the park, which is rare). Having said that I dont think any of these 3 are long term keepers (Kent a slim possibility of eveything goes right from here).
  2. Would rather have a fit an in form Kent vs Hannan / Tyson. Problem is he is rarely either ?
  3. If that is a true account then something is definitely NQR within the AFL system. If the AFL is handing out "umpire advice & insights" then the same advice and messages /demonstrations should be granted to every club through the week in a systematic fashion or nothing given at all.
  4. Doesn't have the initial speed or play quite tall enough IMHO (depending on potential opponent/s). Disposal pretty ordinary atm also. Melk and/or Harmes for mine with Jones to Menzel. ANB/Fritschkrieg/JKH & Hannan rotate through wings & HF
  5. Would much rather him playing through the wing & HF. Easily the best kick in the team, on either side, outside of Nev (who would be getting more cheapies around the back). That last kick inside 50 (and accuracy at goal) is critical to our success. Giving the opp a significant win playing him down back for extended periods outside of 'ice time'. Melk can cover (or at least trial it). Tim Smith comes in to take Melks role and also resting ruck which frees up T-Mac to go full time with no draining ruck duties. Smith also the No.1 tackler inside 50 will bring extra pressure and possibly keep the ball in our forward 50 more often vs Melk.
  6. I would argue Clarry is our best mid and arguably our best player alongside Maxy RP. Viney definitely right behind alongside Gus. Without an in form Hunt i can't think of anyone that will handle the role Hibberd plays to a similar level. His reading of the play, work rate to get to the contest and run off and across HB (on the switch) will leave a gaping hole. Could we switch Melk back there till he returns (hopefully before finals)?? Hasn't really threatened up forward for 6 weeks now and we've won our last 2 without him playing anywhere near his best or hitting the scoreboard as often as his purple patch around the time we smashed the Crows.
  7. He does show glimpses for sure! Might turn out better than bro
  8. Havent heard much of Kenty apart from that last foray.
  9. Is this a home side time keeper maxing the wind advantage! A long one and no injury time etc. 36.5 min quarter wtf? Maybe he ate one too many dimmys and snuffed it! Someone knock him up!
  10. If that wont play on your phone try Tunein Radio
  11. One of my all time favs. When the siren went last night I saw a player very relieved to hear it, rather than any sort of jubilation. Maybe that's just Jonesy but have to say he doesn't look his normal self and was running at about half his usual capacity from what I could see. Maybe a week off managed or two to freshen him up for the last few games and hopefully finals. The boys and club will get around him anyway I'm sure. Like a few others on here I think it might not hirt to play him in more of a HF role from here. Tracc and Harmes the ones to come in and replace slowly in the mid field role.
  12. Meh you just tend to take an aspect of what's said and wring it out in a way the writer never intended taking out of context Nash. In this case for example, focusing on my handball wherever possible focus (as first option) and ignoring the kicking down the line bit to infer he shld never be allowed to kick again ...coaches orders!? Other than that i agree with all you said ? And dw, you arent the first nor will you be the last to do that on here i'm sure!
  13. Didn't say not kick at all Nash. Just handball off as first option wherever possible or up the line as next best option. Don't try and squeeze it to any targets as he just rarely hits. Pretty simple stuff....just play to your strengths and improve likely outcome in our favour more often. I agree on other closing speed, spoiling, height issues. I was pushing for Frosty as the next best 'Intercept' option once Lever went down, while many here preferred Joel, months ago on multiple posts. Amazing how ppl conveniently miss that part and target you on any constructive (warranted) criticism. Not surprising coming from you though Nasher. Very quick to jump.
  14. top 2 was the hardest i can recall..... 6. Clarry 5. Gawn 4. Gus 3. Salem 2. ANB 1. Lewis
  15. The effort was there as was the results in terms of spoiling and getting to the contests as already mentioned. No question on the effort or giving 100% at all deestar. But also no harm being critical where it's warranted, especially against a weaker opponent. The issue is with what he does with it when he gets the ball. Not his defensive side. So there is a positive aspect highlighted in my post which you may have missed. As mentioned his disposal needs working on and is as much a coach as a player issue. The challenge to improve this side of his game lays with both Coach/s, the player as well as others in the backline who might be required/asked to assist.
  16. Titan good summary. Vince is a worry but who replaces him who is significantly better? Not being smart i just can't see who offers something more at this point. Similar maybe but not significantly better to justify a replacement. Jones appeared to be moved to a wing for much of the 2nd half so his clearance numbers would naturally have been off somewhat but probably was moved due to not getting enough clearances! How's that for spin! But yes that was probably his worst game for the year. Worrying times. Carrying an injury maybe? Looked relieved when the siren blew. Just on some of the efficiency stats i agree we were more efficient but.... We had roughly the same number of scoring shots for each entry inside 50 as we did last week and so did the Doggies (when compared to the Dockers). A marginal difference but not significant. We may not have been any better defensively just much more accurate at splitting the middle this time around vs against the Dockers (a greasier Darwin explains it partially but not totally IMO). Out pressure might have resulted in less accuracy (compared to the Dockers) but the Doggies also missed a few simple shots i thought. The numbers i'm seeing, which is some cases differ significantly to yours (courtesy of Footywire) ... % inside 50s Score Demons 46.2 vs Dockers 32.1 Demons 48.1 vs Bulldogs 29.8 % inside 50s Goal Demons 16.7 vs Dockers 25.0 Demons 34.6 vs Bulldogs 17.5
  17. I wish i had your optimism CB. Just my view after having a good look at the ladder prediction thingy and the fact we have now lost 2 of our best in Lever and Jack.
  18. One of the worst games in terms of turnovers i've seen. I just can't understand how Goody allows Frosty to do anything when he gets the ball other than run and handball to the nearest player running from behind or alongside or alternatively just kick long to a contest. The other issue is his kicking, even when trying to kick to a man (or contest), he rarely manages to find one of our own or kick to our advantage. Great closing speed, great at spoiling and occasional chop outs but at the moment he is almost an asset to the opposition once he gets ball in hand. Coaches need to do some serious work in this area with team mates running around near him in support like Hibb and Nev if he remains in the squad. Vince was ok but still only running on 2 cylinders IMO. Similar to Hannan.
  19. I agree with much of that although, in the first quarter in particular, the Doggies won clearances at the center bounces and at stoppages. From about half way through the 2nd quarter we were able to curb their dominance and get on top in the center and ended up winning the clearances here. The main area where we got back into the match though IMO was upping the contested work. Doggies killed us in the first quarter and a half in this area (as well as the outside...but it started here) but we started turning it around much like the clearances (through middle) and eventually ended up matching them here. Meaning we were able to compete at the contest more effectively and prevent the Doggies from getting as much of it on the outside as they were getting early on. Also.... We controlled the tempo much more than we did of late instead of playing on almost every time we had it at break neck speed only to turn it over by kicking (under pressure) to an out numbered player and seeing a quick turnover and the ball come back over our heads for an easy score. This happened a few times in first half, better handled in the 2nd. We out marked them in all facets, uncontested, contested (Demons 16 v Doggies 11) and forward fifty (12 v 9). In total 102 v 70. 32 extra marks is a massive differential (that's 8 every quarter!). We were also able to hold our structure better than the doggies and better than we did in previous weeks (maybe similar against Freo) by ensuring we almost always had a key forward, a few genuine talls down back, and Maxy killing it through the middle and pretty much everywhere else. We also tended to play an attacking disposal game forward of play off HB and through the middle, much more so than the doggies, who went lateral and kicked backwards quite a bit more.... Meters gained > Demons 6,220 vs Doggies 5,581. That means the doggies were giving up (in comparison to us) 3.7 times the length of the G over the entire match or almost the length of the G every quarter. The doggies also turned the ball over 9 times more and we had 10 more intercepts. The other huge differential was score involvements. Demons 133 vs Doggies 73. 60 more! Would suggest we linked up much more effectively, more often for the eventual scoreboard result. Good signs against a pretty ordinary opp but we need to remain positive.
  20. Have to set ourselves for a win against the odds next week to make up for the Saints loss and put the Cats out of contention, effectively for our spot. Also means we could potentially lose against the Crows & Swans and still make the eight.
  21. The trubble is buzzy, Hannan adds nothing or hasnt so far and we are losing stoppage clearances badly. I can only assume they are getting half their goals from those and the other from our dumbass turnovers. T-Mac, Lewis and Frosty the obvious ones. They have 11 rookies to our 6. We should spiflicate them!
